I asked the butcher if they had a certain cut of meat, he asked,"how much do you want?" I told him it only comes in one piece @ 3-4 lbs. He trims it up, I purchase it and when I get home I find he sold me something else. Extremely deceitful. After a brief call with the manager, I'm told, "well, we have it now if you want to buy it." Prior to 2020 I was a frequent shopper at Charley's. I just didn't get back into the swing of things for a while. I saw that the business was under new management. I follow them on Facebook and cheered their commitment to community! They promote supporting small business. When Rehoboth Baking Co found themselves having to close the doors on their space Charley's stepped right in and offered them to set up shop in their store! Once I saw that I knew i'd be going back! How could I not! Today was the day! I was greeted by a friendly gentleman behind the counter who I believe was the owner. I bought some of their famous square burgers, if you haven't tried them you need to, and a perfect ribeye steak. I cooked it last night and it was absolutely delicious! Charley's has a wide variety of meats. They also offer bundles. That will be my next purchase. They have quality meat, signature seasonings, friendly people, and reasonable prices. If you like to cook at home - this should be your go to butcher shop! I was recently introduced to Chartley's by a family member and found it as a great way to get a high quality, locally sourced array of meats at very reasonable pricing. I purchased a large pork section (whole bone in pork loin) - the butchers did there thing while I looked at the rest of the store and I left with enough pork varieties to make 11 dinners for 2 people at under $38 bucks!! The pork chops we're all packaged 2 to the pack and the ribs and roasts each had there own packages - making it very easy to put everything but that nights dinner away quickly! I at first was taken aback at the prices on the beef sections but after seeing how it works with the pork - I now realize the huge value in purchasing meats this way. If you are looking for freshly butchered meats - this is the place to go. While you are there you can also grab a selection of produce, canned and dry goods and even old fashion candies! read more

I'm through with this place. Just spent $90 on 4 'rib eye' steaks with virtually no marbling and no taste. I could have saved $35 - $40 at BJ's Wholesale with a better product. This place continues to disappoint. I desperately want to support local businesses, but the price and lack of quality is downright insane. They better stick to their gimmicky 'square' hamburgers (which aren't very good for the price, either) and stop pretending they are a bona fide butcher shop. read more

Amazing, I can't say enough about this place. Drove here after a customer shared their fried chicken from Chartleys. It was delicious. I drove here from North Attleboro to see what I could get for a few meals. Pasta salad, ribs wings. Dealing with this shutdown of the world it's nice to have some food options. Place has gone down hill, there prices do not match the quality of there meat. There selling choice or below quality cuts for prime prices. Stopped by here in our search for a good meat market. They had a great selection and the staff was very helpful and we picked up a few small pieces of meat to try this week. I like that you can buy a huge cut of meat from the case. They had great prices on cooking herbs too, so we picked up a couple of those. Overall, it was a great little place and I'm glad we found it. Ok well I have had my deer cut and ground into hamburger for over 15 years well I am telling anyone thinking of doing so to think twice now I got mine back , with blood meat, (from trama). The perfect place to go if you want a variety of meat. Meat is their specialty and they offer a variety of cuts. You can pre-order a variety of meats for special occasions like holidays. Some of their best meats include their hamburger, blade meat, and their corn beef which is outstanding. The only issue I had was one time, I pre-ordered a prime rib and when I got it, it had so much fat on it that I could barely eat it. Because customer satisfaction is the most important aspect in this business, they refunded my money for the entire order because it's rare to get a prime rib that way. Other people that I have known have raved about their prime rib. Needless to say, all the other meats I have gotten from them moving forward has been very good. read more

I just dropped in after reading the great reviews. I wanted to see if it was as good as people said, since it was closer to my home. What a disappointment! I was interested in buying boneless chicken. Well, their boneless chicken was 60 cents more per pound than I got at Bob's in N. Attleboro, and, unlike the nice, clean chicken breast I purchased at Bob's, Chartley's chicken was NOT clean! It had fat, membrane and cartilage still attached! It looked no different from the boneless chicken I can get for LOTS cheaper at the supermarket! They even left the two breast attached to one another! The hot food looked awful in its chest, so I didn't even WANT to try it! Nothing appealing at all. I WON'T be back. read more

I am only giving this place one star because unfortunately I cannot give it any less, the parking spots are a mess, I walk in and the place doesn't seem so bad, it's small, and gives me an old timey feeling, I go around looking for some snacks to cash out, then the cashier, which btw was very very sweet, told me that there was a 4 dollar minimum on credit/debit cards, which is ridiculous. On a separate visit, after I went to pick up some cooked food, I overheard one of the workers, which I presume is a manager (Grant) being really rude to multiple of his co-workers. Needless to say although the place is family run, it sure seems to be run like a dictatorship. Treat your employees with respect and maybe they'll stick around read more

I went for a country drive and stumbled upon this place and decided to stop in. I saw a sign for roast beef on sale $5.99 lb. and thought I'd get some. The man asked me for clarification "do you mean deli roast beef"? I replied, yes. So I bought some. As soon as I saw the package I thought to myself that it looked beyond rare, as in raw sliced beef. I figured, oh well, worst comes to worst I'll just heat it up a little. lol and behold when I took it home for closer inspection and opened the package my initial observation was correct. This beef was practically COMPLETELY raw. It had a "paper slim" rim of dark around it as though they may have stuck it in the oven ever so briefly or even more likely they coated it with a coloring to give the outside a darkness. Given the condition of the beef, I cannot imagine they kept it in oven long enough to obtain that dark outer color. So I warmed it up hoping to cook it and make it palatable and safe. I added a little salt and pepper but the outcome was that it was not needed because the beef tasted "injected" already with some kind of something. Not only that, it did not really taste like fresh beef. There was not much flavor and it did not even really smell like fresh beef nor did it really taste fresh. I'm sure if I cooked it it would be safe to eat, but even cooked this meat is disgusting. I will not even give it away and it's not worth the trip back to return it. This will go in the garbage. This is among the very worst store bought roast beef I have ever bought. RAW to the core and not even fresh tasting. read more

Great little store! Good service, great meat and a some basic stuff for convenience. I live near by and often run in to get everything I need to put dinner on the table. A couple of additional benefits include a decent little liquor store next door and a couple of miles down Rte 118 is the Corn Crib. It's only open when local produce is ripe because they only sell what they grow. A few ears of corn, grown right across the street, to go with the fine meat I got a Chartley's and I'm ready for a great summer meal cooked on the grill. read more

I am 16 years old and me and my friend have been walking to this store since we were 10. I cant even guess the amount of thousands of dollars we have spent at this store. We cause no trouble, we respect the store because it is the only one in the area, but yet they still give us the shittiest service. I have never seen such shitty service in any business. Chartleys might have good food, but they dont care about their customers here. Yesterday i was there with my friend buying a few things and the owner or someone working there followed us all throughout the store. I cant believe how disrespectful they are to their loyal customers. Especially with the amount of service i have given them. No "PINK SLIME" here! I recently moved about 1 mile away from the Rehboth, MA Chartley Country Store (there's one in Norton, MA as well). Although I was never a patron to them prior when I had lived only 13 miles further away, I sure am glad I have them down the road now! Being so close, I can hop over and get anything I might have forgotten in my weekly shopping trip to the larger supermarket 7 mi. away. But, I do try to buy ALL my meats here. When they have a sale on something that I eat, I stock up the freezer as it's awhile before they'll have that same cut on-sale again. They try to put everything on-sale for a week at least 1-2x per year I was told. Between the many varying cuts of beef, pork and chicken, that doesn't leave much time I suppose. They usually have some type of ground beef on-sale each week though I've noticed, and they grind it right there. I've even had Joe the butcher I've come to know, show me the actual side of beef and then the huge chunk of chuck he was going to go grind for me! They do NOT use pink slime, only pure cuts of beef. And, they only cut enough fresh ground beef to last about 1-2hrs., then they'll cut more. That way, it's never sitting around to long. I've bought the nicest, farm fresh free range chicken breast there as well. They were HUGE and golden yellow, not those puney, sickly, grey slimey "chicken" (??) breast you find in the supermarkets! The last time I was there purchasing their 95% fat-free ground beef on-sale, there was a small line of about 7-8 people within minutes of the doors opening on the 1st day of the sale. That day, I met a woman who drives 1-1/4 hr. from CT to S.E. MA just to get her meat for the week! Yes, it's THAT GOOD! Go, I promise you won't be disappointed! read more
