Sweet spot with a brilliant view perched just far enough from mad shoppers but still prime for people watching from the spacey windows. Great space for working in, with nice interior and lovely leather sofas, it's been pleasantly quiet on the 2 occasions I've been in so I didn't feel guilty about plugging my laptop in (yay, electricity plugs!) and setting up camp for the afternoon. Their latte didn't blow me away, buuuutttt I had already stopped by Fortitude that morning, setting a steep bar for the day. Great tea selection with breakfast and fruity options and (as you'd hope) enough to make 3 cups. Cake selection is pretty on point at a temptation avoiding glance, but didn't pay enough attention to notice if there were GF options.

Like others have said, without the trusty Yelp app I would have walked straight past this cute little coffee shop in the central location just behind Princes street. Once inside, on a Sunday afternoon I was quite surprised to find it packed of the jam variety! The server was very sweet and managed to find me a table in the corner, giving me a great view to people watch. I was feeling peckish so thought I'd make use of the breakfast served all day on a Sunday (which is such a good idea) and had a Scottish bacon and poached egg butty for a very reasonably priced £4.50 (one filling would have been £3.50) It was a good butty, the bacon and butter being the highlights, but my egg was slightly over cooked and I never received my explosion of yolk that is essential to an egg sarnie in my opinion. I also managed to grab a window seat after some other people left, and had a view of the castle whilst enjoying a latte. The menu offers single and double shots for all drinks, which again I think is a nice touch to accommodate a more differentiated experience. My coffee was very nice; this, the atmosphere, the value for money and the location means I will definitely be back.

It is the perfect spot for those on the go as seating is very limited. Inside, you'll find the place to be quite charming. Stone covered walls, warm lighting & the aroma of freshly made coffee makes this place feel like one out of a storybook. Both times I've gone, I was greeted by the friendly staff who did a wonderful job keeping everything in order as it was quite busy. I usually don't opt for hot coffee, but as it was a cold and rainy day, I opted for what I believe was a brown sugar honey latte. For munching, I had the strawberry croissant. The coffee itself was very small in size, but it had great flavor. It was subtle, with the perfect amount of sweetness. The croissant was flaky and the layers of the dough filled crust were incredibly delicious. is it the best coffee I've ever had? Certainly not, but the service and the charm of the cafe make it all well worth It. It truly is a must try spot when visiting Edinburgh. Stop in for a hot cup of coffee, take a stroll and get carried way in the streets of Edinburgh.

We clearly didn't plan things out well, as we had to scramble to hit stops 6 and 7 within an hour of closing, on our last full day in Edinburgh. But, in our defense, coffee shops close up super early in Edinburgh! We hustled our way from the Mile towards Cairngorm, side-stepping tourists and hurrying across intersections. On a normal day, it would've been a nice jaunt through town, but on this day, it was a hectic seemingly-longer-than-it-should-have-been-half-sprint to the front door. I did love the feel of this shop, from the steps leading down to the cozy interior and the bags of spent coffee bean lining the ceiling. The girl working that day was very nice and welcoming. We placed our order and settled into a small table near the back of the building. I kept an eye on the barista (hubby's back was to the counter) so that I could pop up to grab our drinks when they were ready, but she brought them to us, instead. She saw our Disloyal 7 cards out on the table, and said, "Be sure to bring that by before you leave so that I can stamp them!" The lattes were good, with a nice, rich and creamy flavor. I think I could've ended our night here, wrapped up in the warmth of a good latte and a comfortable chair, but my husband pointed out that we had time to get to the final stop on our list, if we hurried. So, we went up to the counter and had the barista stamp their slice, and then hurried once more into the cold Edinburgh dusk.

The plates are meant to be shared so it's more of a Tapa's style place with dishes packed with spices and flavors. The establishment has 3 floors, the bar at the bottom, the middle and then the top floor where we were seated but they have an elevator where we would take to get the bathroom on the bottom floor. The place was beautiful and packed with people even on a Monday night. The service was lovely and I even enjoyed how they have an allergy menu to pick dishes that wont have your allergy. :,) I even found myself googling the songs because the music was very lively and fit the atmosphere perfectly. I would go again next time I'm in town.

We stopped in for breakfast and from the moment I looked at the menu, I knew this wasn't your typical brunch spot. As someone who's been sober for over a decade, I genuinely appreciated seeing a thoughtful nonalcoholic drink menu instead of the usual afterthought. Creative, intentional, and every bit as interesting as the cocktail list. Then the food showed up. The breakfast naan sandwich absolutely lived up to the hype. One of those meals where you immediately start thinking about when you can come back and order it again. Everything was packed with flavor, beautifully balanced, and somehow comforting while still feeling completely different from anything I'd had before. Dishoom's breakfast menu has become famous for those naan rolls, and after trying one, I completely understand why. What impressed me most was that nothing felt gimmicky. The concept, the atmosphere, the drinks, and the food all supported one another. Honestly, I'm not aware of anything quite like this in the States. It feels less like going out for breakfast and more like stepping into another city's café culture for a couple of hours. Dishoom was one of the culinary highlights of my trip to Edinburgh, and it'll be one of the first places I return to the next time I'm back in the UK
