But the best part was this: I bought a sweater (among other things) and was about to pay for it when I noticed a thread coming loose. I purchased a pair of shoes from Uncle Otis Clothing online store last week. I paid $200.00, for the shoes and Otis billed me an additional $45.00, to ship to Denver, Colorado. Earlier this week, I received the shipping confirmation, but I also received a separate email from the shipper, DHL, to let me know that I owed them an additional $72.81, and that if I did not pay in four days, the shipment would be sent back to Uncle Otis. I called Otis and was advised that because I live in the States, I would need to pay the duties on the order, and that if I didn't want to pay the duties, the shipment would be sent back to Uncle Otis Clothing and I would receive a refund, MINUS the $45.00, that I paid for shipping, so basically, I was on the hook for the $72.81, or I could send the shoes back and lose the $45.00, that I'd already paid. I was miffed to say the least and Otis was unhelpful when I emailed to ask why I paid over $115.00, just to ship. In fact, Uncle Otis Clothing didn't even have the ship to address correct, so that after I paid the extortion, so that I didn't end up paying $45.00, to get NOTHING, I had to call Uncle Otis Clothing back to sit on hold for a half hour white they called DHL to correct their mistake. To say this was mishandled is the understatement of 2025. The customer service was crap, as was the explanation of the return policy and why I was billed $117.81 for shoes that cost half of that cost. Uncle Otis Clothing is a complete scam and I will not stand silently by while companies like this one take advantage of people. The experience left a taste in my mouth that I would like to never taste again and I will continue spreading the word.

My favourite brand that they carry is 7 Downie Street, who make very nice, colourful shirts and jackets. You can find some more traditional items here too: blazers, suits, ties, sweaters, pants, etc. However, you won't find any shoes or traditional English overcoats like you might at Rego, Harry Rosen, Indochino or Proper Cloth. Also, just be VERY sure about what you buy. This is the only reason I won't give a five star rating. For understandable reasons for a small business, they're reluctant to give refunds if you purchase something and change your mind later. They're happy to give you store credit for most returns, but they probably won't refund you if you change your mind. Ignore the return policy at the end of your receipt, treat anything you buy here as a final sale, and you won't be disappointed. Everything they carry is high quality and they only sell new, never-before-worn clothes.

When you walk in, you'll probably feel comfortable. There are suits of armour on the wall. It's fantastic. I'm not one for hip, and with it, clothing stores - but, I tell you, I kind of wanted to after walking into this location. Although, I'm not sure I'll ever understand the allure of a $60.00 trucker hat. Now, that's where the good ends. My story may not be typical. It hinges on two factors - I'm a big guy, and I don't like being lied to. If you're there to just pick something up off the shelves, then - by all means - get your gear, buy it, and love it. My tale begins as my friend's wedding approached. I was to be one of his Groom's men. I needed a vest. A lovely vest that can only be purchased at GotStyle. I didn't even mind the $150.00 price tag, because it was a beautiful vest. There was nothing not to love about it. My friend had left our sizes with the good people of GotStyle, and I called ahead, and said I'd be coming to check it out. The wedding was 4 weeks away. I took the bus down to the store, and when I got in, I told the girl I'd e-mailed that I was here for the vest. She smiled, nodded, and then kept me waiting 10 minutes while she chatted it up with some guy at the front who, apparently, shops there often. They talked about their clothing addictions. I appreciate that. You need to strive off of return customers when you sell $120.00 t-shirts. But, as a new - potential - customer, this was not ideal. As for the ten minutes - that's accurate. I time stamped the event. It was probably more like 11:37 but who's counting? The vest comes. Unfortunately it doesn't fit me. It's too small, by an inch. This is not ideal. A vest needs to be done up - especially for $150.00. I cried inside a little, but she said - "Don't worry! We can get a bigger one!" I was elated! I went home, and thought nothing of it. One week passes. I e-mail, wondering about the vest. Nothing. Two weeks pass. (The wedding is now 2 weeks away.) I am told that there is nothing they can do. They can not get a vest that will fit me. Now let me tell you something about tailors - tailors can make vests. Tailors can get them done, in a similar style. In fact I was quoted that I could get the same vest, cheaper, if I needed it by... TWO DAYS AFTER THE WEDDING. This was not ideal. The next week and a half of my life was spent in a frantic hell trying to find a matching vest, that I could wear, to not stand out. I tried 8 places, 2 countries, and discovered all number of places in Toronto. Had GotStyle been up front on the day I went in, none of this would have been an issue. I would have got a vest made from a different place, but they strung me along for 2 weeks saying it would be no problem, until the finally left me in a terrible place. And they knew when the wedding would be. Long story shorter, I ended up getting a similar (too small) vest at another store. The rain was pouring that day. I remember it well, as it was near the end of the vest-adventure. Three days to the wedding. The groom found some fabric that matched the vest. Two days to the wedding. The night before - THE NIGHT BEFORE the wedding, my girlfriend's mom was able to tear the vest apart, that was too small, sew in the fabric, and create a passable copy. It was a good adventure, when it finally ended in success - but it was terrible, stressful, and awful up until that moment. And all of it could have been avoided if I wasn't lied to by the staff at GotStyle. So - you make your own decisions. Maybe you fit, "off the rack," clothes, and have the money. If so - head there. If customer service is an issue for you? Maybe this isn't the place. This is just my story. It seems other people love it. And - remember - I, too, really wanted to love this place, as well.

The merchandising in the store is perfect - well laid out, not overwhelming with excessive bells and whistles with an old antique feel. The staff were not only exceptionally knowledgable about their products, but they were all friendly and happy to help without at all feeling pushy which is a rare combination. Unfortunately, the suit the groom purchased for him did not fit and my husband was in a bind to find one worthy to wear as best man with only five days notice. I was really uneasy about going to a big box store thinking about all the mistakes that could happen with alterations or lost suits + impersonal service. I came across this yelp page and saw that the owner had helped another Californian out in a jam with overnight service so we called him straight away on Monday morning. He said it wouldn't be a problem and to come on in to get measured. We were very nervous about the timing, but sure enough, Ashraf got it done for us with plenty of time to spare. He carefully selected a suitable black suit and started meticulously measuring away. Afterwards, he called the warehouse and was able to pick up the materials the same day. Ultimately after spending 25 minutes in the store, Ashraf said we would be able to pick it up within 2 days and not to worry. True to his word and much to our relief, we picked up my husband's perfectly tailored black suit on Wednesday afternoon. Ashraf was so helpful, reliable, and friendly. Wardrobe for men is truly a full wardrobe solution store. I also thought they were very reasonably priced for such full service and great selection of attire. I called a work colleague and asked that he research the best stores to purchase a suit for my next day business meeting that began at 9 am. The problem that I faced was my flight was going to arrive in Toronto airport just after 7 pm and all the stores would be pretty much closed by the time I got to Downtown area. As soon as my plane landed in Toronto I turned my phone on and saw that my colleague recommended Wardrobe for Men via text. He said that he had spoken to Ashraf the owner and instructed me to call Ashraf when I arrived at the store which I did. Ashraf came and opened the store around 830 pm. The store had a wide range of great quality suits to select from and I purchased an excellent quality navy colored suit made in Canada. Ashraf fitted me to the suit beautifully but the issue was that it needed to be altered for arm and leg length and it was already 830 pm. Ashraf was able to reach his alterations person after many calls and begged him to do an alteration for me at the late hour. The guy agreed and Ashraf called his son to come and pick up my suit and deliver to the alterations person. After the son came after 30 minutes Ashraf's wife kindly pressed and ironed my suit and shirt. He then asked his son to take me to my hotel which was 10 minutes away which by the time I arrived was after 10 pm. I got some dinner and went to bed and my meeting the next day was a success. I have never experienced such par excellence service literally in my life. I will always be grateful and remember Ashraf each time I wear the suit. I don't like to write review generally but I want to share this amazing experience.
