Key Features: Nice clothes, suits of armour on the wall O.K. So that's the good thing - the clothing is great. It is. There is nothing wrong with it. When you walk in, you'll probably feel comfortable. There are suits of armour on the wall. It's fantastic. I'm not one for hip, and with it, clothing stores - but, I tell you, I kind of wanted to after walking into this location. Although, I'm not sure I'll ever understand the allure of a $60.00 trucker hat. Now, that's where the good ends. My story may not be typical. It hinges on two factors - I'm a big guy, and I don't like being lied to. If you're there to just pick something up off the shelves, then - by all means - get your gear, buy it, and love it. My tale begins as my friend's wedding approached. I was to be one of his Groom's men. I needed a vest. A lovely vest that can only be purchased at GotStyle. I didn't even mind the $150.00 price tag, because it was a beautiful vest. There was nothing not to love about it. My friend had left our sizes with the good people of GotStyle, and I called ahead, and said I'd be coming to check it out. The wedding was 4 weeks away. I took the bus down to the store, and when I got in, I told the girl I'd e-mailed that I was here for the vest. She smiled, nodded, and then kept me waiting 10 minutes while she chatted it up with some guy at the front who, apparently, shops there often. They talked about their clothing addictions. I appreciate that. You need to strive off of return customers when you sell $120.00 t-shirts. But, as a new - potential - customer, this was not ideal. As for the ten minutes - that's accurate. I time stamped the event. It was probably more like 11:37 but who's counting? The vest comes. Unfortunately it doesn't fit me. It's too small, by an inch. This is not ideal. A vest needs to be done up - especially for $150.00. I cried inside a little, but she said - "Don't worry! We can get a bigger one!" I was elated! I went home, and thought nothing of it. One week passes. I e-mail, wondering about the vest. Nothing. Two weeks pass. (The wedding is now 2 weeks away.) I am told that there is nothing they can do. They can not get a vest that will fit me. Now let me tell you something about tailors - tailors can make vests. Tailors can get them done, in a similar style. In fact I was quoted that I could get the same vest, cheaper, if I needed it by... TWO DAYS AFTER THE WEDDING. This was not ideal. The next week and a half of my life was spent in a frantic hell trying to find a matching vest, that I could wear, to not stand out. I tried 8 places, 2 countries, and discovered all number of places in Toronto. Had GotStyle been up front on the day I went in, none of this would have been an issue. I would have got a vest made from a different place, but they strung me along for 2 weeks saying it would be no problem, until the finally left me in a terrible place. And they knew when the wedding would be. Long story shorter, I ended up getting a similar (too small) vest at another store. The rain was pouring that day. I remember it well, as it was near the end of the vest-adventure. Three days to the wedding. The groom found some fabric that matched the vest. Two days to the wedding. The night before - THE NIGHT BEFORE the wedding, my girlfriend's mom was able to tear the vest apart, that was too small, sew in the fabric, and create a passable copy. It was a good adventure, when it finally ended in success - but it was terrible, stressful, and awful up until that moment. And all of it could have been avoided if I wasn't lied to by the staff at GotStyle. So - you make your own decisions. Maybe you fit, "off the rack," clothes, and have the money. If so - head there. If customer service is an issue for you? Maybe this isn't the place. This is just my story. It seems other people love it. And - remember - I, too, really wanted to love this place, as well. read more

I can't say enough good things about the service I received at GotStyle (Bathurst) from Konstantine. He made the process of getting a bespoke tuxedo for my wedding easy and fun. He helped me take the vague idea of what I wanted for my tux and turn it into something spectacular! Desperately needed to find an outfit for an event on a Saturday night, and this was the last bastion of hope on the West side (having already tried Queen West). If Gotstyle failed, then it would have to be the Eaton Centre. Fortunately, Gotstyle came through in a major way. I was able to pick two shirts, a pair of jeans, a belt, and a pair of shoes -- all for the price of ipad, give or take. Not exactly cheap, but quality stuff that I was proud to wear. I've been shopping here since they were in their old location. The new location has definitely ushered in a new atmosphere. I never used to feel rushed or ignored, but these are my two most common experiences now. That being said, if you happen to be shopping and Melissa is around, she'll always take her time to help you out and is quite a huge help. I don't bother sticking around for very long unless she's around. I usually dress casually in a t-shirt and jeans when I'm out shopping to make it easy to try stuff on, and while Melissa is always cool, I get the feeling that other employees assume I'm lost. As far as the fashion itself goes, they still carry some really nice stuff, but they run out of sizes quickly. I also feel like they're moving away from classic staples and more towards flash. Sorry, but no matter how sweet a plaid shirt is, I'm not wearing it if it has a gold dragon on the shoulder. On the other hand their suits are always excellent and actually a really good value considering the quality. tldr: +3 for their suits and key pieces like ties and socks. -2 for the decreased quality of service lately, especially compared to other shops in Toronto like Sydney's (my current favourite). read more

Large selection of really nice men's stuff. Not as stiff or traditional as Harry Rosen, but you'll spend about the same on a dress shirt ($120-$200). Their private label is nice, but they also carry brands like Ted Baker, SAND, John Varvatos, and Moosknuckle coats. They have casual clothing right up to smart suiting. Service is great, and the staff is very knowledgeable. You can also get a shave and a haircut for two bits (haha, kidding). But really, they have a couple vintage barber chairs for spa services, and it looks completely inviting. read more

I purchased a pair of extremely comfortable J Brand jeans from Eli. He was extremely knowledgeable, patient, gave me some great info and alterations were included. I haven't bought a suit in years. So it was with a bit of trepidation that, after some research, I decided to go to Gotstyle for my suit. I found the store pleasant and easily approachable. I think I was lucky as I was served by Nicole who was very patient and very nice. She helped me get over my fear of a stylish suit (tighter than I wanted but was altered perfectly to my taste). She was great. And then their fitter chalked and marked the suit for alterations. He too was very nice and understanding of a neophyte to the world of fashion. Unfortunately, I hear that he has just left Gotstyle. That's a shame. By the way, alterations are included in the price. As well, I bought mine when they had a 'no sales tax event' and so saved $100. When I went to pick up my suit it was perfect! My son also needed a suit and so several weeks later I took him there. I admit I went on Boxing Day so I know that's not the best day to shop. However it wasn't nearly as busy as I thought it would be. We were served by someone different who, I think, fitted my son in a suit one size too large. She did this because he has a 'hockey butt' and one cannot mix and match pant sizes. It was an $800 Strellson suit so I don't understand why you can't get a size 40 with the pant size that fits (in his case a 34). He had to buy a 42 suit in order to get size 34 pants. Even one of the other salespeople looked at my son in his suit and said the jacket was too large. However our saleswoman insisted that was the size he needed and that it could be altered. So we went for the size 42 and were told that because it was Boxing Day there would be no alterations that day and we would need to return for them another day. No problem. A week later we return. Another salesman, Max, pinned the suit for my son. Max, by the way, was also great and I would highly recommend him or Nicole. After the pinning he takes us to the cash and tells us that it is $100 for the alterations. Now, we saved $200 on the suit but I was a bit perturbed that we lost half our savings. Why, I asked, do I have to pay for alterations when they are included in all suit sales at Gotstyle? He said not on sale items. I protested but he said there was nothing he could do. I tried to email the owner, Melissa Austria, but the website has no functioning email address. So I wrote her a letter explaining the situation. There was no fine print in their ad about no free alterations on 'for sale items', we weren't warned when we paid for the suit, and my suit was on sale and I got free alterations. She said simply that it was standard practice in the retail business to suspend free alterations during sales and that was it. She was unwilling to compromise and was not terribly sympathetic to my complaint that there was no prior warning either in the ad or by the salesperson. So I'm not sure if I would ever shop there again. I liked Nicole and Max as salespeople but I find the owner's attitude and the person who fitted my son unacceptable. And after shopping on Boxing Day to save money I ended up with a limited selection and savings equal to anything I could get at their frequent 'no sales taxes' sales. read more

I went in initially to pick up a suit. I found the first person I interacted with to be a bit snobby (I was dressed casually that day in jeans and a t-shirt). However, Max took care of me later and he was absolutely amazing. He was extremely patient and took the time to understand exactly what I was looking for. Since then, I've ended up buying 3 more suits, 2 dress pants, and 5 of the private Gotstyle label dress shirts from him. Ask for him and you will have a great experience! I found that the store had a very impressive, handpicked selection of off-the-rack suits (have yet to buy a bespoke suit from here). There's also a very impressive, exclusive collection of dress and casual shirts, shoes, accessories, shorts, jeans, etc. The store is pretty small but you can tell they've put thought into everything they've sourced. Overall, Gotstyle is a great store and one of my go to places now. For work clothes I prefer it over hugo boss, banana republic etc where I used to shop. Price wise, they work with you and suits can range from $900 to double or more. Dress shirts are about $120-150. Quality is very impressive. I would highly recommend this store! read more

I went here to shop for a suit. I later went all over Yorkville to suit shop and didn't find a suit I really love and fits me well, except for a $2,300 Prada suit a salesperson at Holt Renfrew Men picked out for me -- it was beautiful but I can't justify spending that much on something I will occasionally wear. So I went back to Gotstyle to get a very nice Pal Zileri suit I tried on earlier to get it fitted. They had some great sales so I picked up a second suit for half price which was too good to pass. They carry a nice range of quality made and designed clothing, from casual to formal to fun and funky. All their staff their are very experienced and knowledgeable in fashion and styling and have a great eye -- they will know how to dress you for anything. The staff there are always very friendly, helpful and down to earth. There is no absolutely no attitude or pretentiousness at all, no matter you are buying just a pair of socks or getting a custom tailored suit made (which they also do there, which is done by their very dapper in-house tailor extraordinaire). The time went by so fast there while I was trying about five different suits multiple times and getting the two I wanted fitted, I didn't know the store had already closed. The staff kept the store open for me and another customer which was really nice of them and I wasn't hurried at all. I got the suit back from being altered in a very reasonable amount of time, and they look just perfect and can't wait to wear it. I don't particularly like shopping for clothes, but this is my can't go wrong go-to place for clothes. read more

I went there to get a suit, i felt the people that work there are so friendly and not pushy at all. THE KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING, they are young and know the latest trends unlike other places (TOM's Place). the prices are fair and they suits look awesome once you wear them. Went in last weekend for a suit and recieved great advice and service from Max. Some alterations were suggested to me to that improved the appearance and naturally the tailoring was gratis. When asked when I needed it, I said I needed to get it in 10 days; their standard turnaround is 14. But the rush request was offered at no charge. Six days later I received a call, the suit was ready, early. Impressed. Went in and it looked great to me. But they again offered that they thought the pants were slightly to short. I then realised it too. They offered to have the suit adjusted the next day and shipped to my home at Yonge&Finch the same day - for free. Definitely consider a stop here. read more

Had two suits tailored here. The first time everything was great and the second time really sucked. I went to put my suit on for my event and realized they had screwed up essentially everything. The jacket was too long in the arms, the pants were too short, they put the wrong shoes in the box and of the two ties I bought one tie was missing and the other one wasn't what I had selected. I trusted that since they were so great the first time I could send someone to grab the stuff for me and it would all be correct. I was wrong. When I called to let them know how bad it was they told me that $1700 wasn't very much to spend in their store and that they thought my tone was "rude."  I ended up at my event in floods and borrowed shoes. Very inconsistent, will not return. read more
