The Tillamook Freddy's is big (B-I-G so wear your comfortable shoes) -- with good selection; and meat, dairy, and produce I can live with.

As a self proclaimed clam chowder connoisseur I take the hunt for delicious clam chowder throughout…read morethe PNW coastal area very seriously. Each beach town my husband I travel to, I spend far too much time reading reviews about clam chowder. If only I spent as much energy in other areas of my life as I do "internet-researching" clam chowder, who knows what I could accomplish. I must say that the clam chowder at Werner Beef & Brew is exactly what I have been hunting for. It is the perfect texture and consistency. It has a spectacular balance of clam to potato ratio, and the potatoes are cooked to perfection. They don't have too much bite, nor do they disintegrate into mush the moment they enter your mouth. The chowder itself was worth traveling from Rockaway to Tillamook for. It was even worth a more industrial view vs. an establishment with a more coastal and picturesque backdrop. The salad bar was on point. The variety of salad add-ins, dressings, and topping crunchy-bits were epic. It was a nice balance to the very rich perfect chowder I am already missing. I miss it. I miss the chowder. My husband also got the fish tacos, based on others' reviews and enjoyed every bite. I enjoyed their Dragon Fruit Cider, and he ordered one of their Meaty Bloody Mary's. If you are on the fence if you should order one, you should. You should get that bloody mary. The bloody mary then led us to purchase some of their salami and bologna. It was an elevated version of the sandwich meat my grandpa used with white bread, yellow mustard (off-brand), ice burg lettuce, and a slice of cheddar cheese. Mid-life has me craving nostalgia. It might be the hormone imbalance, but salami white bread sandwiches, here I come.

This is a great stop in Tillamook. It's not far from the Tillamook cheese factory, but I prefer…read moreblue heron over that. They have animal feed. You can purchase in the gift shop and feed the animals outside. There's a donkey, goats, geese, and a few other others. I enjoy feeding them. The only problem this trip was I had my dog with me and he got a little crazy at the fence line. Part of the fence has chicken wire across the bottom but part of it doesn't and of course that's the part. My dog found it jumped inside. It was funny, not funny. Gift shop is great. I really miss going up and down the aisles and finding the pretzel sticks and samples of what's on the shelf. It was a good thing to look forward to and I enjoyed it. If you're in Tillamook, I would stop in. It's a great place for kids and picnic outside. There's also a separate candy shop on the premises. Great candy and some old school stuff that I had not seen in quite some time.

The property has a lot to offer, including a small petting farm, a gift shop, and an eatery all in one place. The paninis were especially delicious and definitely worth trying. As for the wine tasting, the selection was great and I still enjoyed the experience overall. However, the bartender wasn't very friendly or knowledgeable, which took away slightly from the experience. Even so, it was a fun stop with plenty to see and experience. I do recommend over other popular cheese factories in the area.

The younger girls are nice enough and knowledgeable about the area. Their selection of stuff is good but check expiration dates. Had to return two things and the onion I got was rotten on the inside. On top of accusing my son after his short visit, went in to buy two bags if ice for 4.50, gave the employee a 20. Bill , she didn't look at the bill nor finish the transaction before putting in her till. She took it as a 5. bill. After 3 or 4 times politely correcting her , she refused to realize she was wrong. Customer service and counting change is a basic common sense practice and a courtesy to the patrons. They wanted to wait until midnight to do their books and mail him his change. I'm sorry I wouldn't have agreed to that especially if I knew for certain what bill I handed over. Yes, my son was upset and demanded the correction. It was all on camera, it took two police officers, which my son was happy to stay while they called. After reviewing it did show he gave the 20, not a 5. Before all of that the employee accused him "you must do this a lot". Wow... The customer is always right..... I hope she's being re-trained or better yet let go. She obviously dosent like her job. It's the " owners" responsibility to have friendly customer service. It would not have cost the store anything if the employee did her job, we'll never set foot there, now that cost them..... There are a lot if nice little stores in the area and friendly when you walk in.
