The store merchandise is thrown in the aisle, basically instead of visiting start cleaning up the aisles and help customers.

They immediately went into action. I was a mess. I thought it had been stolen. My husband was waiting in the car. I went out to tell him what was going on. He came back in the store. A young associate asked if we had Life 360. I handed her my husbands phone and she immediately knew my phone was somewhere in the store. I told her what aisles I had been shopping on. She asked my husband to call my phone. She found it. This took approximately 60 seconds from the time she looked at our Life 360. She was one of 3 ladies who helped me. There was also a man checking receipts at the door who was so kind. I cannot say enough about these 4 individuals. Thank you so much. Your kindness and professionalism means the world to me.

It allows businesses like Bette's to be both visible from the street and to draw people into the "mall" to see more. Also in this "mall", aside from Bette's, are Yesi's, B Gorge-us Boutique, and Gandara alterations. That's pretty much it. Worth poking your head in if you're wandering around Hood River killing time. Not great for much more than that.

Clothing is brand new, never worn, and ranges from t-shirts to jackets to sweatpants to sweaters and accessories. You never know what you will find as product is always moving. Same with food items. Pasta, cookies, cereal, canned veggies and fruit, candy, bread, coffee, seasonings, soda, bottle water, lots of snacks and more. They are close to expiration but most have a shelf life far past that date. Items are arranged neatly and easy to see and find. Lots of cleaning products, too. Many are the Awesome brand found at the Dollar stores but they also have the main brands like Clorox, Windex, Snuggle, etc. What brought me in was the rakes, shovels and yard tools. They had a large assortment and at much better prices than big box or local chains. Even some planters in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors for far less money than elsewhere. Like $5-10. You need to wander around as the store has aisles going both vertical and horizontal and pathways that lead to areas which I guess could be considered a "department" like the garden supplies. Those working here are always unpacking items, arranging product and keeping the store organized and clean. They are super friendly and helpful, too.

Like all if these stores, the fun is walking down every aisle to see what is there, never knowing what to expect. While many items are close to expiration, there were lots of fresh items as well. The produce looked fantastic, always a good sign! If in The Dalles, definitely worth a visit. Plenty of parking right out front and located in a strip mall with Rite Aid, a Dollar Tree, JoAnn Fabrics and The Goodwill. Even a drive through Starbucks in the lot.

That being said,…read more I've noticed that the local Chef's Store is woefully under-stocked, lacks satisfactory customer service (except for a couple employees like Mali, Albert and Josh) and doesn't seem to care about the safety of their customers. I've noticed that, unless there's a corporate visit expected, the place is an absolute mess. On more than one occasion, I have experienced or seen other customers, almost slip and fall in the freezer (see attached photos). It is too difficult to carry the boxes out of the freezer, let alone navigate an obstacle course of debris, icy floors and pallets that are just put willy-nilly. Every occasion that I absolutely have to shop there due to limited choices in this town, I have observed a few select employees that do little to no work, especially freight and helping customers, on a regular basis. The attached pictures are a one day example of the state their freezer is usually in. I refuse to get hurt, which has almost happened on almost every visit I've been there, because of employee laziness. I'm hoping this review gets the notice of the store and these issues can be rectified.
