Do not get anything engraved at the jeweler. They scratched my item all up and left a big dent in it. Was terrible work.

I was so happy when this store came to our town. It is one stop shopping with great prices. The health food section is the best around.

The store only had the small oz, and Mel offered to see if they had the 110oz in the back. Unfortunately, there weren't any left, so she sold me the remaining products on the shelf for a fraction of the prize. Thank you, Mel! Your act of kindness brightened up my day.

I have to warn people, be careful when purchasing items, especially produce at this Safeway, as they keep overcharging me or they try. In the past, I had to return items with my receipt for the manager to review, as they charged me double the price in the past, what I didn't realize, until I got home. Today it happened again, when I stopped around 4 pm to get some grapes and peaches. Both were on sale $2.99 lb(still too high), but I got about 1lb each. The gum chewing woman cashier tried to overcharge me. When I pointed out the member price for her, she tried to explain her "mistake" with a stupid excuse, how she "accidently" pushed the coupon price, not the member price. I am so fed up with their cheating, need to warn people to watch them like a hawk, or they will be overcharged. At today's prices we pay enough, but this store is so greedy, they keep overcharging customers. I don't know, if being a cashier at this store is a requirement for cheating, because I see a very large turnover. Probably the more honest ones are leaving.

Flooding this week caused a synchronistic epic failure on the trestle. My plans to resupply at the…read moreEverett Chef's store has now been twice thwarted: last night and now today around 12:00 noon. Undaunted, I decided to pay a visit to the Lake Stevens Tom Thumb on the way back after escaping the pending mind numbing experience of gridlock. A few weeks ago I read a glib mention of good Chinese food being offered there for lunch. A good time to check it out. (Really? "Good" Chinese food? At TT ?) Frankly, I wasn't too eager to check it out. But the short mention I had read had the ring of a true believer. Someone who approached food with some reverence. Best not to ignore fate. Saturday noon time at the Thumb wasn't busy. I chalked that up to the flooding or just plain luck. The hot food section had a few odds and ends but nothing Asian. I asked about the Chinese food to a female customer nearby. In a hushed voice laced with fanaticism she handed me a menu pamphlet and said the bacon fried rice was her favorite. Then gave me a knowing look as if to say I was in the good hands of Providence. The manager was quick to show up. He greeted me warmly, made sure I had a menu, took my order, and offered me a place to sit and wait. A quick scan showed all the usual favorites of beef/shrimp, Chow Mein/Rice, chicken, appetizers, and vegetarian dishes. Dishes were easily recognizable by name. One or two rice dishes that I've never seen before. And several lunch special dishes. Three sauces are explained to aid in your decision making. I chose a dinner portion of sesame chicken. My experience with this dish in many places is the same: pre frozen breast meat that's been dipped in a batter. Then flash frozen and packaged. Or it is dredged in flour or dipped in a batter, then fried to a semi hard tensile strength in dark clumps. The line cook fries a portion in hot oil, then it is drained and sauced with honey or maybe maple syrup and soy sauce and brown sugar. Sometimes it's darker in color due to overcooking in oil or adding too much soy sauce. Since it is a chicken dish, it requires one to wade through a fried dough experience first, with the sauce adding to the experience. The sauce is typically overly sweet. Too much honey, sugar, or syrup. After the third bite it's just too sweet. One could compare it to a chicken filled super glazed donut. So it was either the sesame chicken or the other dish I frequently find disappointing: Orange chicken. I chose the sesame. Let's see what these folks can do. In less than ten minutes it was ready. I was thanked for coming by and was on my way home. I could tell from the weight I had about two pounds of sesame chicken. I was right: 1.92 pounds when I weighed it at home. The portion was huge. And some skill in presentation was added. Just enough to frame the dish: broccoli florets. That little addition did not go unnoticed. It made the dish pop when I opened the container. The chicken was obviously fresh. Not frozen. It had been coated with flour and corn starch. Fried but not to the point of it being crusty. Chewy. Not dry or tough. Moist. Chewy. Not doughy. The sauce was not overly sweet. The chef exercised restraint and allowed the sweetness to come through, but not dominate. I could taste sesame. After appreciating the dish, I tried adding some of the soy sauce from a packet they supplied. A slightly different complex of flavors but the chicken and sesame dominated. It provided a balanced harmony. Not better. Slightly different. So for $17.45 (including tax), a very well executed sesame chicken with the portion easily feeding two adults. Take out only. Fast and friendly service until 9 PM. My thanks to anyone who posts even a snippet of something about a place to give us a heads up. Had I not read that short comment about this place, I would have missed out. To that perThank you!

APR-18-2023: Sit back and relax. I have a story of life for you. I won't mention suicide, drugs,…read moreor abortion; there is a brief mention of shopping cart abuse, however. This little bit of writing is supposed to be fun or funny or something like that. If you can't see that, then I have some advice for you at the end. Or stop reading now. Your choice! I've lived in Silver Firs since 1996. This store was built around the turn of the millennium. It's hard to believe, but this store has been a consistently a remarkable store for all that time. Packaged stuff is fine, and the prices seem OK to me, but I'm not too picky on price. I value quality above all else. And I can find packaged stuff anywhere. Here are the delighters for me: I like to shop for the triple B's: Booze, Bakery, and the Bunches of produce, especially the Bunches of produce. There is so much goodness here that I can't take it all in. The apples are amazing! I can't wait for the peaches this year. Last year's crop was so good! If I don't know what to do with a plantain yet, then that's MY problem. I like the deli too (but... it doesn't start with a B, so...) When I want a Rueben sandwich, this is where I get my meat and cheese. Be sure to get the Jewish Rye bread and the Dijon mustard. OMG! Delicious! Oh! And I always get my Parmesan cheese here at that little walk-around case, too. Today I also bought some cool BBQ gear. (Hey, another B!) I think this staff is knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful, etc. I personally know that dealing with "the public" is challenging sometimes. I used to do volunteer work and I took so much abuse from "entitled" people who just want it fixed... NOW! When I asked for "a little help, buddy, because you know, it is a volunteer thing..." Nope! That's everyone's cue to disappear. It's just human nature to be inhumane. When someone is humane, the world lights up beautifully. So, I've been there myself. These folks are really nice. They are "soldiers of niceness". They could work at Disneyland. I admit that there are some things I always buy at a specialty store, like seafood and beef. I'm too picky in these departments. You know, sustainable, organic, humane, and harvested only on the Sunday after the first full moon after a volcanic eruption, etc. Just ask any critter or fish. I'm big on that. I can't bear the idea of boiling a live crab. I just can't do it. For everything else, I am happy to buy at this Safeway. I like to think of this store as "my store". So, I take care of it like I would my own house. I'd like to teach the public on how to return carts to the cart return. It really is possible and obscenely easy to stack them nicely with the big carts on one side and the little carts on the other side. But does the public do this. No. The public practices cart abuse every day! I'm sorry some folks feel differently about the store folks. It goes both ways. Some customer folks are not very good with store folks too. The world is not perfect. Some humans are good with other people, some humans are just not very good people and so on and so forth. Some people are tired, or they have worries, or they are just bored out of their minds and look forward to a change. Some people don't floss their teeth. I've smelled that. Haven't you, dog breath? Early on in my development as a human being, I bought a cucumber at this store. I went thru self-checkout. Something went wrong. A staff member fixed it and I left. When I got home, I had an email from my bank that said I'd spent more than $100 at Safeway just now. I looked at my receipt. The staff person had entered a quantity of 92 cucumbers into the register. I went back and got it fixed. Then I got heated and called the manager. The manager asked if the staff member corrected it, and I said yes. At that moment I realized what a prick I was. Now I laugh at little things like this. This is not a problem. This is just life! Once I bought groceries here, went home and couldn't find them! I went back to the store and asked if I had left my groceries at the store. No, they said, but If would like to, just go get what you bought, and you can have it for free! I practically fell on my ass! So generous! No, I had to find the groceries. I went home and found them. I can't remember where I put them, under a pile of dirty laundry or something. Jeez! What a night! I like to compare what I have to what I don't. I compare this Safeway being there to not being there and I say, "I'll keep this one, thank you! My life is better with this store right where it is." Thank you, Safeway folks! PS: This is the cleanest, brightest, and nicest smelling store too. This store has energy! It's better than Disneyland! Put that in your bong and smoke it! If you don't like this store at least most (4 stars) or even some of the time (3 stars), you picked the wrong week to give up smoking dope!

Worst experience ever…read more The night manager refused to help me in the most dismissive way possible, refused to give me contact information for store management or the district manager (it's against policy she said). When I called the store to find out when to call back to speak to the actual store director she shortly said "call back in the morning" then when I asked for what times she said "fine just call 7 to 11am". When I asked what days (it's Saturday) she didn't answer then I said "could I call tomorrow" and she acted like I was an idiot and said she told me to call in the morning so obviously not Sunday. I pointed out I was asking what days and she said "you know what dude this isn't cool" and hung up on me.
