So....I went to Fred Meyer in Sandy, OR today and can't believe how ridiculous they are. You can basically walk around that store without a mask and potentially spread a deadly virus and no employee there is allowed to say anything to that mask less person. I went to the recycling area with a bag af cans and found they have a limit of 24 cans. You could buy 4 cases at a time but can only return 24 at a time. They post an employee at the recycling area to MAKE sure you do not put more then 24 cans in the machine. The employee literally stopped me from going over the limit. Took me 20 minutes to get there. I thought, this is nuts. I went in to do some shopping and noticed there was a change of guard, so I finished my recycling of my last 24 cans. I just can't believe the loss of human value that this Fred Meyer displays. There is a stronger desire to control can recycling than to protect their customers & employees from this deadly virus. Fred Meyer should lower their prices more because their values have gone low low low, much more than their prices. I think I have had enough of Fred Meyer and it's only concern being for the All Mighty dollar, and who cares about people there. Was very excited to see such a nice clean Fred Meyers. The organic section is amazing. But, this is the third time I have gotten home without things I bought. I bought several magazines, cat treats, and Vitamin water. None of these things were in a bag. 2 weeks ago I bought an extra large Xmas gift bag, but got home--no bag. I will start off by stating that this post is only in reference to the jewelry department at Fred Meyer in Sandy. As for the rest of the store, I have no problem with it and shop here often... In January, I spent about $1300 to replace my wife's engagement ring. They were having their annual sale and they had the right ring for my wife at a good price. This is the point where everything took a turn for the worse. We began by having to wait 3 weeks to have the ring sized. We were understanding as we wanted the ring and there is no jeweler on site. When we received the ring back, the sizing work was terrible, with the area that had work completed on it being misshaped and the shape of the ring now being oblong. We brought this up to the customer service rep there and decided that we will deal with it when we have her rings soldered together at some point in the future... Fast forward a month and a half later, a diamond had fallen out of the ring and there are three others loose in the setting. When we take it back again, we are told it will be a month wait to fix it. My wife and I are already pretty bummed out with the whole experience so far, but we let that month pass. During the wait, we check in twice to confirm the work will be completed in the time frame promised. Both times, we are informed it won't be delayed. Well, my wife goes to pick it up yesterday and nobody knows what's going on with the ring and it's not there. In fact, they never have jewelry come back on Mondays, so that should never been told to us. We put down a couple hundred dollars for family pictures this week and my wife is now concerned she will not have her ring in time. Well, that worry is put to rest because the ring will for sure be there today... Well, it's not and won't be there for another five days. We were repeatedly lied to, paid almost $200 extra dollars for a lifetime service plan, and Fred Meyers needs months, lies, and excuses to get through a work order. Even the lady we dealt with thought a month wait was absolutely ridiculous for a waiting time and has never dealt with an issue like this... Well, she's the one who wrote the initial work order, promising it by the initial stated date, lied to us about it being ready today, and then pawned off the issue to another rep. Oh, and we can get the ring in time for the family pictures... if we want to drive all the way to Washington to get it. Apparently they can't pick it up as a liability... but we can. read more

I would give Fred Meyer five stars but they are lacking ONE crucial thing, real time inventory. We were up in Sandy visiting and decided to go to Fred Meyer to get a Chromebook that said it was in stock at this location. When we arrived it was NOT in stock and the associate graciously called several stores to try and find the product we were looking for. He said he was sorry but they couldn't view their inventory in real time. Seriously? This resulted in us purchasing the Chromebook somewhere else. So please fix this, it's crucial to have inventory in real time........ Other than that I enjoyed the selection of various products, made shopping easy to have it all right there. read more

I hate the way they are changing the store at the customer level. they want you to go thru self checkout, they hardly have a check out registers open like they use to,forcing you to wait,wait in longer lines. its so inconvient I hate it, i'm 83 yrs old maybe set in my ways but this is not good for me, and thinking about all the employees loosing their jobs. shame on Fred Meyers. read more

Kudos to Fred Meyers Electronics for helping me get through the Thanksgiving Day Sale painlessly. I went 1/2 hr before opening to get the 55' inch Proscan. Since I generally DON'T DO holiday sales and there were only 10 available I was worried....But the ticket program (first 10 there get a ticket and I was #6) it was painless and quick. No shoving, no waiting all night, no stress. THANK YOU for not only a TV in my budget range - but an enjoyable shopping experience. read more

Was surprised at all the changes here. I went into the electronics to get ink and the lady informed me that they were down in electronics on the wall, as she could tell I didn't know where I was going. Got down there and she didn't call anyone to come unlock the case even though there was not a single person in electronics. Had to search for at least 5 minutes to find an employee who was willing to help me and even then he was annoyed he had to come over. read more

I must say the customer service here exceeds my expectations every time, well the employees who are not millennials that is. I always get treated with so much respect by the cashiers, I am a stay at home mom and do my shopping weekly with baby in tote and they are always so patient with me if she gets fussy or anything while checking out and I've had lots of issues with like pricing or buying a bad batch of whatever it is and customer service takes care of it always no problem and no questions asked. I would give 5 stars if it wasn't for one bad experience I had with David I bought something expired by almost a month and called and said he would pull it from the shelf after I convinced him he needed to because it didn't seem like a priority to him as he kept rushing me off the phone and when I came into to exchange said item he had not pulled it from the shelves as he promised, the manager was very upset by this and took care if it right away they refunded me the product, gave me a new one no cost, and a gift card for the inconvenience which blew my mind they did all that for me and when I went back to grab a new one the manager himself was checking and pulling all the expired items I reported, to me seeing a manager actually work vs just dictating employees tells me he's doing something right. read more

Thoughts of her outside the store. Makes my time there a pleasant one. Almost makes grocery shopping fun. This is why I shop at this store. No people like her at the place before. Life's trivialities like manners and smiles. To her customers she beguiles. Genuine to a thousand customers a week. To each one she's unique. A genuine gift not many possess. Certainly a "one stop shop" as the commercial states. And I always do find what I'm looking for. The checkers are friendly and courteous. The food is always fresh and I have also noticed a big drop in their sticker prices. This company clearly has grown sympathetic to the suffering economy and is doing their part to help. There are many Saturdays when my husband is working that I just go to browse and often times will strike a conversation with other customers or even the Freddy's employees working the floor! I cant express how friendly this store truly is and I feel fortunate to call it my "home base" grocery store. 2 thumbs up for sure. read more

Ignore any reviews more than a year old. What has happened to this store over the past year is sad, and irritating. It used to be a great place to shop. A little more expensive but worth it. Now, I hate to go there. They are pushing everyone to use self checkout by reducing the number of cashiers so the lines get longer and longer. I don't work for the store so I don't see why I should be forced to scan and bag my own groceries, and with no kind of discount to make up for it. Plus the self checkout machines are always having errors that require me to stand and wait for an attendant to fix the problem. Yet the prices remain high. Unfortunately, the reviews for the Sandy Safeway store are also poor. If Costco can provide enough cashiers, Fred Meyer can certainly do so. I will probably drive the extra distance for lower costs and better customer service at Costco. It is just sad to lose the "Freddy's" that I and most of my friends loved not more than a year ago. read more

I shop here, but not for produce or perishables. I usually will drive 30 minutes to the closest New Seasons. The produce section is so poorely kept and the natural foods department is pathetic. I have place several special orders, never to hear back. Whenever the section is out of stock for something I need, I will ask the lady who always seems to be there when I might expect to see it on the shelf again, and I get the same answer every.single.time. "I don't know, just keep coming back and checking." Seriously, you run the section and know NOTHING about it?! Ugh. I hate when I run out of something and need to stop in here. I primarily buy from the produce and natural foods department and both are extremely lacking, so I save my real shopping for New Seasons. It's a pain in the you know what to drive 30 min out of your way for grocery shopping when you have a huge store 5 minutes from your house. I would like to give them more of my business just because they are so close to me, but I can't do it. There is always rotting food in the produce department and the organic produce doesn't even look edible half the time. I will give them an A+ for all their checkers, though. I would of given a higher score, yet I cannot overlook the incredibly arrogant attitude from members of the gasoline station attendants. They ignore you for up to ten minutes while chatting up a pretty girl in an expensive car. read more

One particular woman at the gas pump will not give all the discounts earned for a gas fill up. A customer doesn't know untill you get the reciept how much of a discount the gal has punched in. I have repeatedly ask for all discounts and almost yell at her. She usually works the pumps on the South side. read more

I love this Fred Meyers. I've shopped at quite a few over my lifetime and this is one of the best ones. Most of the employees have been here for many years and most are very friendly and earthy folks, which is nice. I did encounter a problem however. I spent between $5 to $7k per year at this store so i'm quite a fan as you can see and most employees that have been there for years, recognize me as a loyal customer and treat me with respect and are kind. Hence i say most... on one occasion, I was loading up my goods on the belt and the cashier lady kept looking at me kind of oddly. I've never seen her before and she was probably in my age range -mid 40's. I smiled and kept loading my stuff at the far end of the belt. Once i reached the cashier & credit card machine area, i said "hi" and smiled while i was fumbling about looking for my coupons etc. As she was scanning my goods, i noticed that all employees were wearing bright Green shirts and this cashier happen to be wearing hers and she was very tall and had a pretty strawberry blonde hair color. Being the kind hearted person i was brought up to be, i simply said, "that shirt looks good with your hair color". And from there... the nightmare set in. I ended up in tears and had to go speak to a manager after dealing with her reaction to my kind gesture. She said to be "stop it". I thought she was just teasing me and i looked at her and i said "What do you mean?". She said "i told you to just stop.". I said, "stop what? all i said is your shirt and hair color look nice together". ONce again, she loudly said, "STOP IT you are offending me". !!!! At that point, i really realized she was very serious and that somehow i had upset her? Weird. At first i thought maybe she was Gay and had taken offense etc. but later i found out what it was.... So still at this point, i'm cross between yelling at her to ask her what the heck is wrong with you, anger and tears as i was now heart broken. I'm the kind of person that believes to treat folks with kindness and respect as someone always has something going on in their lives that maybe horrific and maybe just maybe, that smile and kind words i say, might brighten their day. So at this point, she was almost done scanning my goods, when she picked up the phone and called someone and said, "i have a customer here who is offending me. No. I think she's leaving. Ok thanks." and she hung up. WHAT on earth did i do to deserve this i wondered? I had not said another word to her and wouldn't even look at her as she was ringing up my groceries. It felt like forever and i was then very upset. I wasn't acting irritate or swearing or said anything. So when i finally paid for my items, i saw the manager and i went up to him, explained exactly what had just happened (as i had tears rolling down my face) and he told me that they have had problems with this same lady before! Only by other employees who have complimented her on her hair!!!! OMG are you serious? She gets compliments on her hair and she ruins people's days by being cold hearted and rude! The manager went on to say she is a beautician and some reason gets upset when anyone says anything about her hair? He told me he couldn't just walk up to her that moment to say anything to her but that he'd "find a way to deal with her". I left the store, sat in my car and still cried. I was upset that she took offense, i was upset that i'd upset someone when i certainly only meant words of kindness. I rushed home, told my husband, called my daughter and told them. NObody can believe what had just happened at this local Fred Meyers. A few weeks gone by since this incident and i had NOT seen her in there... until the other day! I had thought maybe they finally fired her or maybe she quit but nope, she's still there. So now i have to go to another cashier as i will NEVER ever go to her and i feel sorry for any other customer who says a nice word to her! I don't understand why Fred Meyers can't fire her or something. Demote her to stocking or freight. If she can't be customer service friendly, then she should NOT BE AT THE HEAD OF THE STORE where she interacts with folks on a constant basis. By the way.. her name is Heather. I've shopped at Fred Meyer for 60 years, not exclusively but often enough. I'm usually pretty satisfied. Last week when I shopped at the Sandy store I had complaints. I've thought the Sandy store has had very nice staff since it began so I hve no complaints with them. Shopping in the clothing department has become a problem because of lack of space and crowding too much in the space available. You can't get the cart down the aisles because racks or shelving is too close. There are no mirors that are available to view how a piece of clothing fits, there might be one but a rack of clothes is sitting in front of it. Mirors are lacking in the shoe dept. too as well as a place to sit down. I needed slippers last week but the ones that would fit me were DIRTY and MADE IN CHINA. I went to another store and although I couldn't find what I wanted that was not MADE IN CHINA I did find some that weren't DIRTY. Anyway you need to update, clean up and get some more space in the clothing dept. Please consider buying more American product. read more
