Shopping here, I was excited to see this sale on 3 lbs of Hill's bacon. I used the Fred Meyer app to scan the digital coupon. It blinked when I scanned it, but no coupon appeared on screen to clip. So I took this picture to show as evidence of the $11.31 sale price. Sure enough, the sale price we got at the register was $14.31, not 11.31. I showed the photo to the young cashier, who tried to find the coupon on my phone and could not, and then directed us to Customer Service. After my handicapped wife and I stood in the Customer Service line for 30 minutes (only 2 customers were ahead of us, thank goodness), we were told by the middle-aged female manager that "corporate" does not allow digital coupons to be applied to meat at the Customer Service counter. I asked if other people had experienced this issue with the sale as well, and the manager said none had. My wife, quite exhausted by this time, opined that was probably because no one else wanted to wait in the Customer Service line for 30 minutes like we had. The manager refused to honor the digital coupon. My wife then asked for a complete refund, and we left the bacon there. It seems silly that Fred Meyer corporate would accept the meat back in a refund, and not honor a digital coupon for it for some reason. Mind you, the meat had not left the store at all. Anyway, I got the feeling that neither the employee nor the manager really cared about it either way. I assume they were just doing as they were told, and they probably privately thought it was just as idiotic a situation as we did. Now, about that wait time at the Customer Service counter. 30 minutes to get through 2 customers is ludicrously unprofessional. And there were several customers waiting behind us, too. It appears as if not enough help is being hired at this Fred Meyer. In the past, we had chosen Fred Meyer because Safeway ALWAYS has too little help working, and their lines are very long. They had One job. I ordered a cake 7 days in advance. I asked for it to be piped in Red & yellow. I asked for the KC Chiefs logo (the arrowhead) with KC. I get there it's a completely white cake with red icing. No KC anywhere. No logo. Large child like writing says Happy Birthday Bryan. I stared at the girl who reads my description and I nod my head yes, and look at a white cake. Blink. Blink. I said well, why is it like this-i didn't understand and when I looked it up online they are red and white. I asked her to put yellow ribbons of icici ng, just like the red. I run to find anything football related because the party's in an hour and I can't not take the FORTY dollar cake. When I tell you it looked like I iced the cake. Our family frequents this store over all others locally because it carries the majority of what we need for our household with many sales and quality discounts. We both agree that the Richland Fred Meyer employees smile much more than those at the Kennewick store. I might be 'giving away my favorite fishing spot," by sharing this but those scratch and dent/ clearance items in the bins have really opened our eyes to new products that we normally wouldn't have purchased at full price. I'm from the western side of the state and yes, we're pretty damn spoiled with all the organic and fresh produce delivered to us. Freddy's has always been a good place to get the staples as well as some organic specialty items - but not by much stretch. The biggest disappointment here is the produce is very poor. Very poor customer service and unresponsive management when it comes to wait times throughout the store. Today it took 22 minutes to check out at 9 in the morning. There was only one checker (Larry, who was working very hard). A blue-shirted manager stood by the check-out lanes the whole time watching. He was on his cell phone some of the time, but really he only watched the whole thing go down. You would think he would assist the sole checker by putting customer's items on the belt or (perhaps) bagging. He JUST STOOD AND WATCHED. The lady at self-check asked the folks behind me (senior citizens) if she could bring them over to the self-check and they each refused because she said she couldn't help them scan, only bring them over. When the blue-shirted manager asked her why they weren't coming over, she shrugged her shoulders and he gave her a "side eye" that would kill. I had too many items in my cart to comfortably use the self-check (the space for bagging the items is pretty small. After I had all my items rung up and bagged, I went to the blue-shirted manager to let him know it was 22 minutes from the time I got in line, until paying for my items. He didn't say, "sorry" or "I apologize." Instead he kept on saying the store had problems or the store had issues. He sneered at me the whole time he was "mansplaining." This isn't the first time they have been understaffed, and I have grown tired of long wait times at check out, the deli counter, the meat counter and customer service. The fantastic coupons I receive from them in the mail and the decent prices don't make up for the bad customer experience. I'm not going to return for some time. read more

Let me start by saying that I love Fred Meyer (hence two stars instead of one). It's my go-to store in the city where I live, and I love the "everything in one place" concept. I visited the fuel center this morning at the Wellsian Way Fred Meyer in Richland. I pulled into one of the slots and when I got out of my car, I noticed that the fuel kiosk where I was parked was beeping loudly and the green lights above each fuel octane selection were flashing. Nevertheless, the screen stated, "Scan or slide your rewards card", so I did. I got as far as inserting my debit card, and having the screen ask for my PIN, but when I tried to enter my PIN, the screen flashed, "See Cashier". I was in a hurry, since I had a 3+ hour drive ahead of me, so I moved my car to another kiosk (figuring there was something wrong with the flashy/beeping one), and went up to visit the cashier. When I told her what had happened and asked if there was something wrong with the kiosk, she told me it was a problem with my card and that I needed to call the "service desk". She didn't say which card (i.e., Fred Meyer discount card or my debit card), and I didn't want to cause any problems - just wanted my gas and to get out of there, so I thanked her and went back to my car. The thing is, my bank texts me whenever there's a problem with my card, and I had no texts on my phone, so I was pretty sure it was the kiosk and not my card. I went through the motions on the new kiosk I'd pulled into and voila....no problems. Fuel flowing, I returned to the cashier to let her know it was the kiosk that was the problem and not my card. It took a while to get her attention. I had to stand there while she was reading her book/phone/whatever, and finally I had to say, "Hello?" even though she was facing me. When she looked up, I told her there were no problems with my card, so it must be the fuel kiosk itself. She says, "Oh, it's the handle, it's not on correctly." I told her, "I just wanted to let you know it's not my card, so...." She didn't respond, so I walked away. Now, my husband works at my local Fred Meyer, in the home department (which includes fuel), so I know what Fred Meyer expects of its employees as far as customer service, and this experience fell FAR short of the mark. I will return to this location for fuel, especially since it's so conveniently located (another reason for the second star), but Home Department PICs and managers need to step up the training for employees here. read more

When I do grocery shopping, I normally visit Winco Food since their prices tend to lean towards the cheaper end, however after stopping by Fred Meyer recently I was pretty much am amazed by their variety and layout at their store. First off it's your one stop shop, they have anything and everything you need for you fridge and for your home which is highly convenient. They also have a kids corner where they have a babysitter to watch your children while you shop which is pretty helpful if you have an army of tots with you at all times. They have many registers that are extremely efficient and quick to check out for basket or cart of groceries. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Definitely one of the busiest places to buy your groceries irregardless of what time you show up, namely because of it's convenience right off the highway near the heart of Richland. Many people also prefer Freddy's to Wal Mart because it is cleaner, the employees are much friendlier and it isn't that much more spendy to shop there if you're just getting a handful of things. But if you're getting your whole weeks shopping out of the way, you'll notice you have just spent about $50 more than what you would have at Wal Mart or Winco for the same amount of food because Fred Meyer marks up their shelf foods like cereal and baking mixes a lot. So sometimes if I want to get the best value, I will break up my shopping and get all of my fresh food from Fred Meyer because I know they will be high quality then drive to Winco for cereal, canned goods, etc. Oh also, their new sushi bar -- delicious! I got a tuna roll there yesterday and it was soooo good, even with brown rice. They have such professional looking sushi chefs behind the counter and their work looks and tastes as good as any restaurants. read more

The only time I found a shortage of anything was right after the Easter Egg RUSH. The layout of this store is different than the Kennewick store. I moved to the Tri-Cities from Spokane a year ago and was a loyal Fred Meyer shopper there. From the store manager, to the helper clerks, they were all professional. Even through a major remodel they brought in extra help to assist customers in finding items, and set standards that had to be followed. The Richland Fred Meyer is the only one in TC that is convenient for me to go to. From the very start, I have been disappointed. First, their customer service is definitely not up to par. Just a couple of examples: The store merchandising doesn't make much sense in this store. I was searching for ricotta cheese. Started down the dairy section. It wasn't by the milk and cottage cheese so I scan the section all the way down by the yogurt and the rest of the cheeses. Still nothing. All that can be seen past that case is the eggs and lunch meat, that I can see. I ask the man filling the dairy case, where can I find the ricotta. He looks up at me like I'm bothering him and says shortly, past the eggs, shakes his head a bit and comments with attitude that I'm the 3rd person that's asked him that today. Hmmm, maybe that should tell you that your merchandising should change! And the attitude... I worked for a major grocery chain in management for many years, and the expectation for everyone was to smile, greet, and take people to their item, following up with, "Is there anything else I can help you find?" I went into the jewelers to get a watch battery put in. There were two people working, and no other customers present. You would have thought that I was asking for the moon! The out of stocks are ridiculous as well. They need secret shoppers or a system closely related, to get this under control. Unfortunately, I now do the bulk of my shopping elsewhere. read more

We typically shop the Richland Freddy's or winco. I love the convenience of the one stop shopping offered at Fred Meyers...although they are a little high on their every day grocery prices, their weekly ad items offer great prices and their flower and plant nursery is really impressive and competitively priced. The Richland store is going through a major remodeling and maintain a high level of customer service, employees are visible to help navigate the ever changing aisles and answer any questions. We are really looking forward to the new fresh meat and seafood counter that is coming as well as the expansion of the produce department. Overall a good shopping experience, even with the disruption of the remodeling. read more

Fred Meyer would be my third favorite store in the Tricities (Right after Yoke's Fresh Market in West and Home Depot in Richland). This is a really great store for lots of reasons, in no particular order: 1. Store is Huge - I mean, it has pert-near everything... all the expected departments. 2. Food selection is good - plus they have a kosher section which is nice for this area. 3. I do like their lawn and garden section - swell selection of outdoor solar lighting. 4. Friendly staff - everyone from the floor workers to the check out folks. Nice! 5. Deli area with those nice cooked chickens that you can get for reasonable price. 6. Auto parts area that has proven to have the stuff that I need when I need it. 7. Remodel over the past few years - looks quite spiffy. 8. Exceptional selection of baked goods including some really awesome cakes. 9. Complete electronics store. 10. Did I mention all the departments? Including furnishings, dishes, etc... Good stuff! So Fred's is right up there in the context of favorite business establishments in the TriCities. Cheers! read more

This review is to complain about the pharmacy. This location automatically puts all your prescriptions on auto refill. I have asked them several times to stop refilling my prescriptions but they do it anyway. They have even gotten to the point of calling my doctors office and requesting refills on drugs that I don't need or use. I have even received a letter from my doctors office asking me to stop asking for refills on drugs I'm not even asking for. So my husband bought me a necklace for my birthday and got the chain warranty. Well I broke the chain and had to take it in for repairs. They told me I had to upgrade the chain because they don't sell good chains with there necklaces. The jewelry manager made me feel very uncomfortable using my warranty I paid for. I will never shop here again and have told my husband to shop elsewhere when purchasing jewelry for me. I have been shopping at this Freddies since it opened. But lately I have been having second thoughts. They have few Disabled parking spaces, and they are always full. And frankly so is the Grocery parking area. But today was the clincher. The store was full, the parking full, but in the grocery there was only one cashier (no doubt part of the push to make us use it and save themselves money on cashiers). So I had a full cart and was standing behind a lot of other folks with full carts. I said in a loud voice "please get more checkers". So she did and 3 showed up. You had to be watching because they didn't turn their lights on. Since I had fewer items I went to the one that said Fewer than X items. When the cashier saw me putting items on the belt, and the two folks behind me doing the same, she announced they were only opening for one person each. So I left my groceries and went home.
