I don't usually patronize this Fred Meyer, but did as the location closest to me didn't have what I wanted. Most everything went smoothly, until I looked at my receipt. I'm a Boost member meaning I get free pickup and deliveries. I ordered 3 items and the most expensive item was out of stock. I ended up being charged a pickup fee. I wasn't happy about that because what's the point of membership if I still have to pay fees? I completed their customer service survey, requesting someone from management reach out. They did and offered me the refund of fees as a gift card. Ultimately, me being charged fees for pickup was their parent company's (Kroger) fault. Even so, the store's customer service was excellent and the person who brought the order to my vehicle was super helpful. One of the items I ordered was a fire pit and it was out of stock. The guy that brought me my order gave me suggestions on where I could find one the day before a major holiday. Now that Gateway is closed, this is the largest Fred Meyer near me and I'll for sure be back. read more

Of all the Fred Meyer locations, this is my favorite. Maybe it's because I used to live nearby so I frequent it often, but being objective, I think they have the best layout. The grocery section is in one end, home and drugstore items in the middle, and clothing, hardware and plants on the opposite end. If I am grocery shopping, I never have to walk beyond the midway point. Staff in the bakery, fish, meat and nursery areas have always been super helpful. I use the app to take advantage of the digital sales. Regular prices are typically reasonable compared with other grocery stores. No longer live in this part of town but since I workout at the gym nearby, this is where I do the bulk of my grocery shopping other than specialty items. read more

We had a good experience at this Fred Meyer, which the company refers to as the "Hollywood West" location, in the Sullivan's Gulch neighborhood of Northeast Portland. Our group of eight was able to find just about everything we wanted for our nearby Airbnb house for a long weekend in PDX. Where I'm from, Georgia and North Carolina, we have Kroger and Harris Teeter, respectively, instead of Fred Meyer. Fred Meyer and Harris Teeter belong to Kroger. All three banners are different. Fred Meyer differentiates itself by having the biggest stores. It's a hypermarket - supermarket and department store in one - instead of just a grocery store like Kroger and Harris Teeter. In this sense, it's more like Walmart. For example, during our visit to this Fred Meyer store, I saw an entire department dedicated to "Northwest Style" men's clothing, featuring brands from Carhartt to Levi's. Walking around that section, I felt like I was in Belk or Dillard's. You don't see that at Kroger or Harris Teeter. Also, this Fred Meyer has a garden center and jewelry store. We bought groceries -- wine, milk, beer, Gatorade, Oreo and Keebler cookies, Simply Orange orange juice, Tostitos and Calidad corn tortilla chips, salsa, guacamole, bananas, oranges, Doritos, Poppi (soft drinks), Starbucks coffee, Silk Almond Creamer, bacon, bread, syrup, frozen pizzas, eggs, avocado, potatoes, and more; you know, the provisions middle-aged men need for breakfast and snacking in a short-term homestay from an online marketplace. The shopping center has plenty of parking. There were a few homeless people outside of the attached Starbucks. Security was stationed inside the entrance/exit we used, near Starbucks. To use the restroom here, you need to punch in a door code. Ask an employee for the code. If you're visiting from out of town like we were and are a Kroger Plus or Harris Teeter VIC member, you can use your Kroger or Harris Teeter membership here for deals and discounts. Vice versa, Fred Meyer Rewards members can use their Fred Meyer memberships at any Kroger or Harris Teeter store. read more

I've been getting my rings cleaned here, but that's not why I stopped here. Was to get new batteries for a couple watches. We called first, since Gateway was closed, this store was the next closest to our home. They do have watch batteries. The clerk Ngan looked at it for quite sometimes, then quoted me a price (if I just buy the batteries), and another quote if she install them herself. I wanted her to install them. She gave me 20 mins. to shop. Then, I went 25 mins. later. She waited for me, before she goes to lunch. One cheap watch worked, but my new more expensive Skagen doesn't work. She keeps telling me, it does, see it moves, but it's not running. She wanted to give me half off the price for the installation/battery $5.99. I said: It's not working! I'm not paying for a battery, when the watch is NOT working. It took awhile for her to explain to her boss (or supervisor), that I shouldn't be charge for the 2nd battery. I was so upset, a Skagen watch, now it's not working? That's the same thing happened to my Fossil, when I took it to Lloyd Center 3 decades ago. I don't really want to sue anyone . . . She asked for my phone number. I said: "no phone #. I'm not giving you my phone number. I've been coming here for 5 decades." Ngan handed me a watch repair shop on Broadway, just blocks from the store, for him to take a look at what's wrong with my watch. They only open on Tuesday, this is a Monday. Update: The watch repair told me, Ngan put on the wrong size battery. "They break watches. Then they send them over to me. Most of the time, they put on the wrong size battery. Don't touch the inside of your watch, only someone who is CERTIFIED WATCH REPAIRER, or they will break your watch!" Update #2: I called FM Jewelers today, to let the same clerk know, what she did, to avoid the same mistake to another customer. Another clerk answered the phone, and told me: "we don't have that person working here." I described to her what she looked like. "You mean . . . stated a different name." "No, it's NGAN". She repeated, they don't have a person with that name working there. Then she said: "she's not here at the moment." Then I said: "You just told me, you don't have that person working there." A great supermarket with ongoing sales. Nice and large at this location. Convenient and security posted. There are some homeless individuals in the area so just be aware. So pretty much all of the doors are locked when the store is still open and you have to circle this massive building until you finally find a door that's unlocked which is kind of annoying. Then you have to search the massive store, which is mostly full of low quality, junk food and then when you finally get to check out, of course the self checkout doesn't work and glitches a bunch. Never had a bad experience with the staff here. Great selection (this is one of the everything stores with clothing, furniture, hardware, etc) and reasonable pricing compared to nearby stores (but let's be real, it's 2025 and everything seems expensive everywhere). Just stopped by the Jewlery department today to see if they had apple watch bands. I'd purchased a cheap one and got what I paid for, so I was hoping maybe I could find something fancier. They didn't have it (not really something I was sure I'd find in the first place tbh), but the woman working the counter there was super helpful and I truly appreciate it. Lastly, I know the Tutta Bella grab-and-go salads are expensive and I do sometimes feel like an idiot for buying them when they also sell cheaper ones in store, but they're worth the price. The Salerno is great for those of us who don't keep fresh fennel at home and aren't sure if we know how to make a fine Italian (it says basil but it tastes like tarragon?) dressing. read more

Pretty clean location and the employees are all super nice but I hate that I not only have to show a receipt before exiting but have to pay for certain items within their department. For example: Clothes have to be paid for in the clothing section before you exit, same for Health & Beauty products. One time, I needed to buy one food item and multiple H&B items so I grabbed the food item and took it to H&B to hopefully consolidate the amount of transactions I had to complete, I figured I could pay for all my items at once that way. When I went to pay, I was told that I couldn't add that one item to the order and that I still had to get in another line and make a second transaction. I shop at the Fred Meyer in the Hollywood District often, and I've had several disappointing experiences specifically with the apparel manager. On multiple occasions when I've needed assistance with the discounts, she has not been helpful and has spoken in a very rude and dismissive way. I usually have great interactions with other departments at this store, but the customer service in apparel has been consistently frustrating. read more

Yesterday they had loud hard rock playing with Fred Meyer commercials in between blaring through out the store. Plus it was cold in that giant store. I have had it, I am not coming back. Do not shop here. After waiting in the self checkout lane for about 10 min, a cashier comes up and simply says they're closing all 6 registers. There was no one behind me, and I had 4 items in my cart. I asked why the line cut off in front of me and why they couldn't just take me, and she told me I didn't have to have an attitude with her. Asking me to start my wait all over again and find another lane was unacceptable, and I will certainly not be back to do any of my future shopping here. I left my cart and headed out the door. Decent selection of staples. Because they are a Kroger brand, they carry Kroger products, some of which miss the mark. One is the garlic-infused olive oil - overpriced for the quality of oil that you get, and you only get a few bits of garlic at the bottom of the glass container. Also the store-brand yogurt is a bit lacking in consistency and texture; the flavor is a bit off as well. Produce is fresh, so that is a plus. read more

Four stars for the Fred Meyer pharmacy on NE Weidler and the larger store. I needed a covid shot and was able not only to easily book one through their pharmacy but also received a pair of reminder emails in advance of my appointment along with clear instructions as to what to bring with me. Once I got there and showed the staff my insurance card, I had only a short wait before getting my shot. The pharmacist was polite and helpful. Everything went as smoothly as it could. Because the pharmacist said I could walk around the store while waiting my fifteen minutes afterwards in case if I had a reaction (I didn't), I did a little shopping. Unlike the Freddy's I usually shop at (NE Glisan), this Freddy's had several employees working on the floor, a couple of which helped me find what I was looking for. Big store. Excellent pharmacy. Went to get my mom some earrings for her 80th. Found the perfect pair half off with another 10% discount-all great! But what made my experience exceptional was the service I received from Ashley ! She was extremely pleasant polite and helpful! She made a point of putting the earrings in an attractive box and into a gift bag with tissue paper. This Freddie's has gone downhill for a while but I'm done. I get that shoplifting is a problem, but treating your paying customers -- you know, the people responsible for your record profits -- like thieves is not the answer. I know I'm not the only one who quit going here when they installed an armed guard to detain customers who just dropped an ungodly amount on their overpriced stuff. How exactly this is preventing shoplifting is beyond me when the guards do not actually stop anyone. Maybe they could try out a proven anti-shrink technique, like staffing the store appropriately. However, that cuts into profits and is therefore crazy talk, so hassling someone who just gave you $200 is the only way to go. The cosplaying cops are just the cherry on top. Prices keep being hiked with no end in sight. Freddie's seems confused. New Seasons can try to charge me $8 for an Amy's frozen meal and it almost makes sense. I ain't paying it, but it makes sense in the context of the store and the customer experience. You can't provide a bottom-dollar experience AND demand premium prices. Pick one. They lock the door onto 28th at a ridiculous hour. May God have mercy on your soul if you entered that way and need to cross their dark parking lot. Please understand that what's really important here is investor profits. It simply wouldn't do to keep that door open and hire a couple attendants to monitor it. How could you be so selfish, only thinking of your personal safety? The prices are constantly off. It got to the point where there was an issue during every trip and I had to start taking a photo of every shelf tag, because cashiers would argue that I "saw it wrong" or "the price can't be wrong when it rings up." This has to be a known problem and the company is just begging for a lawsuit. No other grocery store in the area inconveniences and hassles its own customers like this. I will start out with where this store fails. Simply put, the parking lot. There are not nearly enough spaces and it is pretty decrepit. With that said, this store is absolutely amazing! Easily the best Fred Meyers that I've been in. I was blown away by the dessert counter... It was simply beautiful. How to choose one thing?!? Everything looked amazing and I was really impressed that they carry so many different cakes and such from other bakeries around town. The store itself is arranged very nicely. I needed to run in and grab a few things really quick while I was in the neighborhood and it was so easy to find everything. Heck, I was able to find everything. One Stop shopping indeed! read more

Yes, yes, I know what I said. "I'm never coming back here!" Well, since they settled the contract dispute in less than a day, I'm inclined to reward good behavior by spending my money here. And to be honest there are some reasons to show up. The produce department is always full of fresh items you can't find anywhere else. The cheese counter is A-MAZE-ZING! and the baked goods rock. When it's time for me to spend donated money on items for the food bank, that money goes a long way with all the specials. And they carry just about everything I need for any given recipe (I like to cook odd dishes). So .... a grudging 3 a-ok stars. It's still a freaking tardis sized scavenger hunt a lot of the time. For some masochistic reason I continue to use this place as my pharmacy. It is absolutely the worst pharmacy I have ever used. On any given day, you can expect to find an hour long wait to pick up your scripts. And, it doesn't matter if there are 3 people ahead of you in line or 13. Once you get to the actual register and speak to a pharmacist they stare at the register and say things like: "Huh! Why is it doing that?" "That's not supposed to happen." " I don't know what's wrong but I can't ring you up." "Somebody needs to help me fix this." Etc etc. so painful and yet I keep doing this to myself over and over again. Don't be like me. My review is simply for the Deli department - the Asian man has the be the sweetest man but the other older white gentleman has to be the biggest piece of human disposal I've ever had the misfortune of having to interact with. Not only is he rude but he's dim - I ordered cold cuts and told him I'd be back for them .... He left them completely open exposed to the elements until I came back - I was SHOCKED. I shopped at my local Fred Meyer this morning. I used the self check out. There was 3 employees working the area. one of the employees was right behind me when I scanned my items. I only had 4 items. When I finished, I selected to pay by card. The screen said wait help is coming. The employee standing behind me pushed some buttons and she watched video of me scanning each item. She then looked at the items i scanned and then my cart, i guess to make sure there wasnt anything left in there. She made an update to the screen and then i could pay for my groceries. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me. This was my fourth visit to the store in the last 2 months. So 3 out of 4 visits I have had to go through this process, which makes me feel like they think i am a thief. If the executives believe they have a theft issue at the self check out lines, then maybe they should get rid of them and hire more cashiers. i will not be going back to a Fred Meyer. read more

I am disabled and homebound, so I rely on a grocery delivery service which only shops at this location every Thursday morning. This Fred Meyer is always sold out of items every Thursday morning which go on sale on Weds. They usually have similar items, but they are more expensive, at times 100% more than the listed price of the sale item. I give my grocery list in each Tues. afternoon, but when the shopping is being done on Thursday mornings, I receive a call telling me which items are now unavailable. So every single week I have to account for how much extra I'm going to have to spend because of items not being in stock or available. Some items which are always listed as in stock, are seemingly never available. I have ordered certain items week after week for months, but they are just never there at the store on Thursday mornings, and seeing those items listed as in stock is frustrating. Fred Meyer does have the ability to mark items as low stock, out of stock and unavailable, so I don't know why this is a continuous issue. I wish that this location would be able to prepare more to have sale items available the day after the weekly sales start. I wish that this location would stop showing items as available which aren't. This should not be a constant issue. There shouldn't be any reason that anyone would make their shopping list based on what the store's website says is in stock, only to find that the item or items are not available when they arrive at the store over and over again. Bait advertising is illegal. The FTC specifically says "The failure to have available at all outlets listed in the advertisement a sufficient quantity of the advertised product to meet reasonably anticipated demands, unless the advertisement clearly and adequately discloses that supply is limited and/or the merchandise is available only at designated outlets." So Fred Meyer is able work around not having things available when certain items are marked as "while supplies last", but that is definitely not the case with everything. In regards to the weekly printed ads, this location not having a sufficient quantity of enough product to provide the sales to customers a day after the sales start, should not be an issue every single week. Is not having items available a day after the sales start "a sufficient quantity of the advertised product to meet reasonably anticipated demand"? Furthermore, why does this store always list items as in stock which are seemingly never available? I do wish that I would be able to shop at different grocery stores, but it isn't much of a possibility for me currently. So for now, I'll just have to make sure to keep budgeting in a few to several more dollars each week for when my shopping is done at this location. read more

I just had the weirdest interaction with a pharmacy tech over an anti-nausea prescription. This is the second time something like this has happened with this same tech (older woman, long gray hair) at this location. First off, they would not let me order a prescription refill until I only had about a days supply left, something I've never encountered at another pharmacy before. I was told it would be ready today by noon. I got there at 2:30 and the tech tells me it's not ready because they don't have any in. But they might be getting a shipment tomorrow. I ask if they have ANY? Even one or a sample that I could use to hold me over until tomorrow. She says "sorry, no." Then she types a bit more says "let me see if there's anything lying around" goes in the back for a minute comes back and is like: "Yeah, I think you're just gonna need to wait until tomorrow." Then she comments on the quantity I need and how it's such a big order (It's not even a 30 day supply for me) and she doesn't know if they'll even get enough in tomorrow to cover it. Then she says, "well, we can fill it today but it will take 40 minutes and it means there won't be any for anyone else." I said I was happy to wait if it meant I could get it today. 5 minutes later she calls my name and hands me my prescription. Again mentioning that there won't be any for anyone else. WTF was that about? Did this woman just not want to give me my prescription?? And why try to make me feel guilty for picking up a prescription that my dr ordered for me??? Today as I was shopping here in the morning at 7 Am I had the worst experience that I ever had from any grocery store. I couldn't find an item that I was looking for so I asked an employee named Brandy (white woman with black hair & nose or lips piercings) for help. Brandy proceeded to ignore me two times after saying hello and on the third time she responded with "what!?!?" I was so shocked that I asked her "why are you being so rude?" She responded with "because you're a big scary black man". I have never heard nothing like this in my life coming from a Fred Meyer employee. This was sexist. This was racist and a woman like this should not be representing Fred Meyer. This literally caused a big scene in the store. When all I wanted was some assistance. This is completely unacceptable and Brandy needs to be fired. She does not need to work here anymore. No one should be traumatized because she's having a bad day or doesn't like her job and then when I told Brandy that I would contact corporate about her behavior, she responded "go ahead and get me fired" as if she wanted to be fired. I spoke with the managers and the Security and they were very nice and also admitted that Brandy's behavior was unacceptable. I truly hope that the right action of termination is taken because this incident was so intense and traumatizing that it literally affected my health. I do not recommend anyone on this planet earth to go to this store as long as Brandy is working there. read more

Recently moved to PDX from California and immediately fell in love with Fred Meyer, they have EVERYTHING! I recommend shopping via their app/online and picking up your order. They bring your order out to your car and even load it in. And, if you use coupons, don't fret, their online purchase allows for you to give your physical coupons to the attendant who loads your groceries and they'll apply your coupons immediately to your order for additional savings. I love this store, and love all their locations and how easy it is to shop online! read more

I've had issues at this store for a while . The money order guy tried to con me saying my money wasn't proper for the order I was requesting said I was short $40 (I wasn't ) very suspicious. When I told him he counted wrong he said "well too bad you have to go back in the line " had to wait 26 min because of the big man with black hair in a ponytail and glasses who doesn't know how to count...... it's incredible how people don't think of the butterfly effect they cause for being bad at their job . YOUR JOB IS TO COUNT MONEY ! Do it properly and stop stealing money from people . I was late for my doctors appointment , had to wait 3 months to see my doctor because I had to reschedule that . Thanks for making me late ! I Instacart but I REFUSE to take orders from this place and I definitely DO NOT SHOP there personally . I greatly dislike that most orders I have to go through their checkout . One of their baggers didn't double bag it , I broke the bags when I was carrying to the customer , we had to refund stuff because I dropped the bags that were extra heavy and damaged items . They literally locked the exit doors at 8pm as I was walking through them and instead of letting me through some lady just said they're locked and walked away. Very rude. I've also been there many times when they just randomly locked down parts of the store early without advertising it anywhere so shoppers can see parts are not open. Not sure why they lock down parts of the store so early everyday, but it's definitely frustrating after you make a trip specifically there and then leave feeling stupid for having gone. Prepare for a headache when dealing with them! They mixed up one of my medications. I have called three times today, trying to clear it up. Someone picks up and without saying anything puts me on hold where I have to listen to the most awful music. I have no idead what the wait is or even if someone is planning to eventually answer the call. When I called yesterday, the person said, "Can you please hold?" and left me there interminably. After holding for 7.5 minutes, the phone started ringing on their end but no one picked up for 2 minutes, so I will go in in person and stand in that long line. I unfortunately live by this location and all 3 times i was there all the items I purchase are not the price advertised on the shelf. Go see for yourself if you don't believe me. Also NEVER buy anything advertised as a sale it's guaranteed 100% false. Because this location has no competition people are forced to shop here so the place is always packed at the lines because they are extremely understaffed. I usually love going to Freddie's but today's experience was an absolute nightmare. forewarning: DO NOT USE KROGER PAY. IT WILL BE A TOTAL WASTE OF TIME. I had $85 worth of groceries I was buying during my lunch hour and I had well over that in my checking account to cover my trip. I didn't have my debit card on me today so I mistakenly used kroger pay to pay for my groceries connected to the same debit card I left at home. The kroger pay kept being denied and denied over and over at different registers and the managers accused me of my card not working and not thinking at all that their system was the problem and told me to contact my issuer. Then they refused to even print out an inventory of what I was attempting to buy so I could come back later to buy it with my physical card. In frustration as I'm leaving I call my bank and they said not even an attempt from their system made their way to them for the transaction and I used my card online to buy the same groceries from safeway to pickup later perfectly fine. Then I call the fred meyer back to tell them that their system is probably not working and I was trying to tell them that it was not my fault as my issuer went through any possible pending or fraudulent holds on my account, there wasn't any. Then the female manager, Shayla decided to be an absolute b***h and hang up as I'm explaining it to her and asked the manager and employee who accused me of my card not working to apologize. At this point I'm beyond furious and call her again and get her manager and tell him the situation and they still refuse any responsibility in regards to their equipment not working and not even a decent apology for all the time I wasted for absolutely nothing waiting on these dingleberries to do anything helpful in store and taking no responsibility for their failures. Moral of the story: Don't use kroger pay unless you want to have a meaningless argument with lackeys for over an hour. read more

my wife and i are not doing well. were basically roomates who cant afford to move on and out at this point. not really crucial but she went to spend her days off at her grandmothers in eastern oregon today so i figured i would go grab a bottle of merlot and listen to music the evening once i got all my errands done. the cashier asked for my id and i gave it to him. he studied it for about two minutes before handing it back and proceeding to misgender me repeatedly. kinda used to it, every employee in this store except for the token trans one in the electronics section has pulled this stuff before, its just usually they arent checking my ID cause i dont really drink often so i normally cant say much if they say "im sorry i didnt mean to offend you" which lets be honest is a far from valid apology and mostly indicates they meant it but know they can get in some trouble if someone complains. but ted the terfy cashier (oh my goodness was he just the dictionary picture of white male cishet smugness) practically studied my ID like he was a grad student plumbing its deepest meaning. ID says female. I have long pink hair and was wearing a trans pride mask and womens clothes. anyone thinking i wanted to be called a man must have the IQ of a kiwi fruit anyway BUT HE READ EVERY WORD ON THAT ID! so anyway i went to the "manager" billy, and boy what a billy he was! as in hill. but anyway he was a dismissive little jerk about the whole thing so when i got home i tried to call the store and find out who might be above billy in the hollywood fred meyer pecking order only for billy to answer the phone, mumble something about having to go back to the store to "deal with your problem" and yeah. eff this store and its staff. i have zero expectation any cis people will care but if anyone cis or trans does care, i dont know if formal complaints matter to them but there are other stores out there that have the same stuff sp maybe go to one of them. cant speak to it myself pigmentally speaking but one of my neighbors who can told me he hasnt gone to the hollywood fred meyer in years because of how racist the staff is. in any case i wont be back except maybe for the five finger discount if im in the neighborhood. not that i would ever promote people walking off with stuff as a method of making a point to a cryptofascist corperate shop also, wish this site allowed for zero star reviews cause hollywood fred meyer having even a single star is just gross. read more

Waiting waiting waiting on the checkout line. Understaffed employees are not at fault. I only come here when I absolutely have to. Why can't the management of the store appropriately staff it so people don't have to wait in line so long? I will not use the automatic check out kiosks under any circumstances. I am pro union and don't want to see the elimination of jobs. But it seems like that is what it is the goal of management here. I wish they kept the natural food section intact read more

I have never had an unpleasant interaction with any of the staff, and I believe I have been served by nearly every single one of them. Each staff member has treated me with courtesy.
