This Fred's gets four stars because of its gas station, which always has the best gas prices for me because of the loyalty card gas rewards. When I do my grocery shopping here, the staff has always been friendly, even around the busy holiday season. They recently did some remodeling/rearranging, so the last time I went there I had a hard time finding things. But the organic/natural food section looked bigger, at least. The gas station is often pretty busy, although apparently I've been getting there at just the right time recently because I haven't had to wait the last three or so times I've filled up. The only complaint I have is that it is so darn far away -- Fred's would really benefit from having a gas station closer to the city. As it is, I plan my Fred's trips to coincide with when I need gas, then I go here and stock up on groceries, gas, and any clothes or home goods that this Fred's has but that the smaller ones closer to home lack. read more

Trying to inquire about a lost item, the customer service staff were put off when I asked them to check. Had to call twice due to the fact of the first lady hanging up on me. I had to call a second time just to finish my request to hold my name and number just in case it was found. I would not care as much, but this is my mothers purchase and she is on a fixed income. I know the holidays are stressful but I believe there should still be good customer service. An hour after we discover the item was missing we drove back to the store which took 15 min additional, because the customer service people refused to check the parking lot. We came back to a find the item in the overflowing cart coral. The people at customer service said these are cleaned out continualy... nope. I think I am more dissapointed at the lack or empathy. Had $100 from my birthday, so I went to this Fred Meyer to buy 2 pairs of jeans. Went to the Levi's section, but all the jeans are locked up now. Tried to find someone to help....I even tried to call customer service to the Levi's area. After 10 minutes I gave up. There are no employees available to assist. I'll buy my jeans at the outlet store or on Amazon instead. It's cheaper elsewhere anyways. read more

I think Fred Meyer is really swell. I know there are some haters out there, but I find that the prices are reasonable, store is clean, employees are (usually) friendly, and atmosphere is welcoming. I use the rationale that "I'm buying local" when visiting a Fred Meyer, being that the chain began in Portland. But I know that when it comes down to it, I'm usually not buying local at all. (Still in search of a local craftsman who makes those convenient plastic Rubbermaid totes.) The Fred Meyer on SE 82nd just outside SE Johnson Creek Blvd (and thus JUST within Portland) is one of their best locations in the PDX area. It's an enormous store. They have a gas station attached, where you can redeem your Fred Meyer Rewards card for 10 cents off each gallon of gas. And I haven't always had a bad experience with the length of the lines. I usually get filled up and on the go within 10 minutes of arriving. The store carries a wide variety of must-have Ethnic foods and rows upon rows of hardware, clothing, and home decor items. The home decor is usually tasteful and on the lower end of the "pricey" spectrum. Their pet selection sucks (as do ANY large chain retailers...who the hell feeds their guinea pigs "Yogurt Bites"??!!! Weird and stupid.) But aside from the common follies of the supermarket/department hybrid model, this one ain't so bad. And for the FM fans and newbies, it totally rocks. read more

This seemed like some sort of Fred Meyer's mecca. Granted, it was my first trip to this chain, which is a melange of almost every store you can think of, plus a gas station, so I was a little overwhelmed. Let's see if I can summarize: There were groceries, jewelry, clothing, garden supplies, bed and bath supplies, furniture, I might be missing something, but you get the picture. I had held off (for three days) going into a Fred Meyer's because I thought, who feels like another store with a bunch of cheap crap in it- but oh how wrong I was. Now, note to you gentle reader, you have to be ready to devote some time, and know that you will be hauling around a ton of stuff in your cart through aisles that seem to never ever ever end. That said, Fred Meyer's is heaven on wheels for a recent resident/student mixing the fact that I need everything and have no $$$. I loved that there even existed a natural foods section, and that there were decent prices for things I had formerly gone to Whole Foods to try to find. While the store is large, it feels almost like you're in a mall, and don't have to haul your bags around with you, rather you just roll your cart. I liked this local version of TARGET/WALMART, which in some way seemed more neighborhood-y. This location seemed to be a big one, especially because they had a gas station in the parking lot. It was very easy to park, and the check out lady, Angela, filled me in on getting the rewards card, to save $ on gas and other perks. Usually I'm not a fan of these cards, but with a car load of almost 100% organic groceries, some throw pillows, a flat of plants and a big smile on my face, I knew that swiping my new Fred Meyer's card may come a little bit too easily in the next few days. read more

Just stopped by to look for some Trailblazer gear. The store was very clean, well stocked, and nice and bright. The workers were friendly and happy to help. Service for the fitting rooms was quick and the rooms were clean and well sized. The lines up front we're short and we were able to pay quickly. This store has a big problem with updating their hours through the beginning, middle, and end of COVID. I am sure to check before going by going to their own website, Yelp, and Google before heading out late at night only to be met repeatedly by rude door greeters joyfully turning people away an hour before their listed closing time. Tonight I walked in and hour and 5 minutes before closing and the store was closing down. This didn't bother me as I knew what I was after. At 9 PM, an hour before their website CURRENTLY still says they close as I am writing this, the security guard went on the intercom and began publicly chastising everyone in the building for preventing staff from going home. He appeared to be reading his announcement off of a phone, which made the unprofessional nature of his announcement all the more embarrassing for Fred Meyer. I am all for staff slamming the door closed at closing and even turning people away 5-10 minutes before that, but the fact NO ONE in Happy Valley knows when this store closes makes this aggravating. I am writing this review right now on Yelp after getting home from this at 10:25 on Friday and the top of this very page and their own webpage still says I have 35 minutes to go before they close. read more

I'll let you know that even in the evening there's a wait...maybe not as extreme but still for evening...Oh well. I guess I just want to save 10 cents a gallon. I have never had such terrible customer service at a Fred Meyer. I wanted to make a simple exchange at customer service. The line was 6 people long with only two cashier's to assist us. Once the female cashier was done with her customer she walked away to go on break. A manager was called up at some point whose name was Jordan and at this point the line was 11 people long. Once he finished with the problem or issue at the register he walked away as well. All this while that we were waiting 45 minutes to be helped the other manager Alan kept walking around the area with a clipboard like he was doing something important! I've been a retail manager for 16 years. A good manager would have jumped on the register and helped at least a few people to get the line down and at least look like you care. This is the most inept pharmacy I have ever been to in my life. The that they haven't given out incorrect medications or doses and been responsible for a death yet actually surprises me. The communication between this pharmacy and any doctors office seems to be nearly impossible. The same can be said for trying to reach a pharmacist over the phone to sort these types of issues out. I came here for last minute Christmas shopping. There were nice sales going on and the place was very organized. The man near the bedding area (older man, didn't get his name) was extremely helpful. I looked for tape all over the store with no results. I found a gentleman who worked there that said he was all out of tape (for gift wrapping). This is strange since this is the time of year that everyone needs tape for gift wrapping. Stock up, Fred Meyer buyers. That is a no brainer. Our check out clerk, Casey, with reddish hair was LITERALLY the slowest checker I have ever met. He was yawning and moving slower than my dead grandma. Everyone in line was in shock about how sluggish he was. I counted 5 yawns before he even got to me. Then he yawned about two more times. That's not a big deal, but the yawning combined with his slow motion movements made me cringe. read more

The store is nothing to write home about (as compared to the Hawthorne location!) but Freddy's has just about everything one could need, even at odd hours. The staff is very helpful and the place is clean. This location has everything I need except shopping carts. When I'm on a small trip there are no small carts, and every other trip, there aren't any at all. I'm sure the kids who run carts call out all the time, but there needs to be someone running carts every 5-10min during peak hours. Doesn't matter if they're a salesperson, you need carts to sell your product. read more

My last visit to this Fred Meyer was on Monday morning a couple weeks back. I had one thing to buy and some time to browse and possibly do some grocery shopping for the week. Granted, it's not my go to store for other reasons but the reason after this visit, seals the deal and I won't be back. The volume of the music was outrageous! I walked into "Party Started." I felt like I was at a rock concert. If I was at a rock or rap concert, then fine. But I am shopping and choosing products for my family. I was hoping to even be able to think to make a good decision on my purchase. But I could not even think of anything but the loud music. The music continued with hard rock choices blaring and the Fred Meyer adds in between songs were even louder! I made my purchase and got out of there as quick as I could. I bought my groceries across the street where the background music was pleasant and in the background! Shocking for a Fred Meyer experience. Not something I ever thought could be an issue. I went in to return a keurig that I had got at another fred meyers that same day because i got the wrong one and wanted to get the right one and immediately the guy at the customer service desk was rude. I guess he was mad uninterrupted him scroll time on his cell phone. Anyways so I return it and realize he shorted men 40 dollars and I had to ask for my receipt back because he just threw it away and showed him and all he says is the computer figures it out and walked away. So after walking around trying to find someone to help me after I basically just got robbed another associate said I was right and was trying to make it right mean while miserable mcgee is over his shoulder saying no that's not right and treating me like a fuckin criminal then another cart pusher comes up and says "just give them store credit" so again making me feel like a criminal. After a half hour trying to get my money back and being treated like shit I decided to go else where to buy the correct item I went there for cuz i sure as hell will never give them another dime of my money. I spend a lot of money at fred meyers and to treat me like that and also always constantly getting followed because apparently browsing is a crime now I decided I'm done shopping there I I wish I had the name of the asshole but I don't. read more

This review is specific to the pharmacy -- I haven't had any issues with the other departments. I am so frustrated by this pharmacy that I am going to pull all of my prescriptions and transfer them to a non-Fred Meyer pharmacy. Where to begin? The pharmacy has pharmacy techs who are not familiar with drugs and must ask other techs questions. Interns are brought in to customer-facing positions and guess what? Also needing to ask others answers to questions. This wouldn't necessarily be inherently bad or deserving of one star, but when you couple this with the normally long wait times to pick up a prescription, it doesn't create an overall positive experience. I've stood in line for five minutes or longer, all the while other staff members are manning stations with no customers (RX drop off, etc) and making an effort to ignore the long line. On multiple occasions I've finally reached someone to help me, only to find that -- my prescription was misplaced. Or the prescription faxed in by the doctor was lost. It goes on and on. I've heard from folks that Walgreens offers up a better customer service experience, so they will be getting my business. read more

Regarding floral dept: Pre-ordered 8 dozen roses for our wedding and was half the price of a high end florist! Roses were exceptional quality and there was a large selection to choose from. Got reward points for order. Service was scarce and staff hard to reach but order was correctly fulfilled. Would recommend for large custom wedding orders. read more

IDK what it is about Fred Meyer's that suck (Actually, I totally do, that's why I'm writing this review), but this store is by far the worst I've been to. I get that 82nd is a very disgusting area, and therefore, there are going to be more undesirables there, but seriously, LEARN HOW TO STOCK YOUR SHELVES!! Pros: -There's food, sometimes. Cons: -The layout makes ZERO sense -Shelves, almond butter, and produce are WAY too frequently improperly stocked. All FM's suffer from this, but this one is exceptionally bad. -Some of the employees are subpar at best. The produce guys are not overly friendly either. -Coming from the Beaverton store, where people actually interact with you, having people not say anything to you is a bit of a "shock", per se. -Their produce sucks, big time -The pharmacy people seem to be kinda rude Pretty much, its a crappy store when compared to Tualatin (The nicest store out of nay FM's that I've been to) and Beaverton. The unfortunate part is, I refuse to buy 99% of my produce at Winco, because, well, its Winco. And New Seasons is too far to drive for a few things of produce. I don't buy meat, so that's a non-issue. For us commoners, there aren't too many places to go. Maybe I'll start rocking the fruit stand south of the FM. Probably superior prices and quality anyway. It's our grocery store of choice mostly because of location partly because of price. However this store NEVER has carts. It's kind of a pain in the butt, so you walk to their second main location and...no carts. Now I will admit we shop mostly on Sundays but the parking lot is far from full and even on the occasional weekday trip the carts are scarce. Where are your carts Freddie's? It's kind of ridiculous. Lately we grab a cart from the parking lot and bring it in ourselves because it is the only way to be sure to find a cart. read more

I don't shop here for much: just eggs, a piece of fruit, and milk or orange juice. There isn't much here compared to the other Fred Meyers, but it is easy to get in and out of quickly. Tips: go slow through the parking lot, avoid the homeless can-redeemers, don't checkout at the South entrance, and greet the greeter on your way out. read more

Rude! Horrible customer service all the time! Today was the very worst yet! I went to the bakery to get a birthday cake for my son. I asked the lady if she could write on it for me. I met her gaze of inconvenience and irritation as I bent down to pick up the cake. She proceeded to raise her voice and said "Well, I'm not gonna pick out the cake for ya!" I looked at her shocked, said Nevermind and walked away. I tried to call to complain but was disconnected both times! If this was an isolated incedent I wouldn't be so mad but if you work in a customer service industry, you should provide Great customer service! Shame on them! read more
