The pharmacy has really gone downhill. The staff is incompetent, which is dangerous.There have been multiple mistake made this past year. Each one because the staff did not take the time to read their own files. While I was very sick from chemo, my family picked up my regular refills of medications. Fred Meyers staff mistakenly included a medication that I am deathly allergic to and has been reported this store (was in their file). By trusting the pharmacy and following their directions, my mother almost killed me. The last straw was when their tech hung up on me while I was trying to explain they had made a mistake with the insurance. There was no swearing or yelling on my end, he simply didn't want to follow up. I got the information that he claimed they didn't have with a five minute call to the same number they had and relayed it back. Finally the INSURANCE company called them asking why they hadn't made a request. This delayed my son's pain medication (after a crushing injury) by three days. Our family has been going there since 2000, I referred my family members (9 in all) when they moved here...we have decided it will be worth the trouble to switch. read more

Fred Meyer is a newly updated general store. It has changed over the years. The supermarket and video game sections are fancier, and there is now an upstairs Starbucks. It's cleaned up over the years. It's a good place to find everyday clothes, and there's a pharmacy. It's a one stop shop. read more

I cannot in good conscience go above 3-stars because of the insane mark-up on prices at Fred Meyers. That being said, this store has a little bit of everything and is good in a pinch. Their coupons can also be a good deal if you time it right and need something included in that weeks offer. Their baked goods are some of the best in grocery store settings. The store is always clean and well-organized. Floor staff are an endangered species; be prepared to hunt for them, don't expect them to approach you. Return policies are on par with other similar department stores. read more

I shopped there for years and never had a bad experience there. They always had what I was looking for. The rate of employee turnover at the Corvallis location was always very low; the same people worked there for like all the years I ever shopped there. Amazing. On a more personal note, my dad was in construction for 35 years and worked on this store for about a month around 1985 when it was undergoing remodel. We lived in Portland at the time, so he was driving down there every day and back. I shopped at Fred Meyer - and my family did - for all the years I lived in Oregon. Always an amazing store. I still vividly remember when the Christmas decorations (and sales) did not go up until after the Thanksgiving ones were taken down, and there were no Halloween decorations on display until early in October (nowadays it's like September 15th!) read more

Incredibly rude checker by the name of Jorge. A woman in front of us had a fit of histrionics because she thought we were standing too close to her. Both people behind us were totally unmasked, another employee (masked) was crowded up behind everybody in line as she was restocking the gums, mints, etc. Do you think the maladjusted woman in front of us said one word to any of them? Nope! This mentally disturbed "entitled" old witch went viral on us. Our turn finally comes to step up to the belt, and hystrionic Jorge states, "I don't feel comfortable waiting on you! I'm getting another checker!!" So I said to Jorge "Why?? But you had no problem with this rude woman turning around and having a melt down on us in public?! She didn't scream at anybody without masks or the shelf restocked who WAS CLOSER to everybody than we were to her??" We called over a manager, we explained we thought there was something "off" with Jorge and that we stated he was an even bigger idiot than the old woman in front of us. The store manager was extremely polite and apologetic and said he shouldn't have reacted that way. Sorry Fred Meyer, some of your staff are flat out jerks and should be fired for their lousy attitude and horrible customer service; seriously, low hanging fruit. We went home, thought about the bad service, brought everything back and returned every single item of our $90 dollar purchase. We explained to the Customer Service clerk why we were returning everything, and that guy never even acknowledged that he was sorry for the bad experience either and he never even said, "Would you like to speak with a Manager?" This company doesn't give two shtz about their lousy customer service, only about taking your money. We won't be back, products are cheaper on Amazon and are delivered right to the door, and as veterans we're treated better. read more

Look, there is no other store even close to Fred Meyer. This store is your one stop shopping, it's all you need. I was awestruck by the produce section!!!! I wanted to lay on the floor and roll around!! I wanted to live there!!! The employees were great!!! I'm standing there looking up trying to read the isle boards and this employee says "can I help you find something," and I asked him my question and he gave me an answer!!!! I love Fred Meyers and the employee's at the Corvallis location are great but I have definitely had my share of complaints over the years. One problem is the lack of selection, they do not even sell newborn diapers for Christ sake! I have also had two different instances where I found mold in my food. The first time was inside packaged ravioli and most recently was finding small green worms in my organic ears of corn. Both times, the employees did not seem concerned with removing the items off the self. read more

He went over and beyond to make sure that I had what I needed and even walked me through the process with great patience. I worked for another location of Fred Meyer, and was treated badly by managers. My boyfriend worked for the Corvallis location, and was also treated badly by managers (not quite as frequently, but still). I have worked with him in the past, and I know that customers request him by name and are quite fond of him. He gives great service, and is loyal to the company even though they treat him badly. Very sad. (One example of this was a time when my boyfriend stayed an hour later than scheduled to cashier. After that hour, he said he had to leave to pick someone up, the old Store Director, Courtney, made a scene and said he was not allowed to leave because there was simply no one else to take his place. Gee, he stayed an hour extra as a favor and now he is not allowed to leave?) Did you know the higher up managers get bonuses for cutting hours? Did you know students get higher hours than those with full availability and a long seniority? Did you know managers here do not always follow OSHA codes? (Not providing gloves at bottle return, allowing the racking system in the back to be unbolted for MONTHS, refusing employees their breaks, etc.) Did you know you can become a PIC or manager with no education, and little to no common sense? This is a shout-out to corporate: treat employees fairly, and they will treat customers fairly. The reason you're losing money and trying to make up for it by implementing silly policies like Q-Vision, is because you treat your employees like crap. Treat them well and they will treat customers well. I refuse to support Fred Meyer. I gladly take my business to places like Market of Choice, New Seasons, and Trader Joe's, where the employees seem genuinely happy and I don't see managers acting like pompous jerks. read more

I went to their annual fuchsia sale, which has clearly printed rules about the pots we could bring for our fuchsias. But the manager rudely rejected some pots that clearly qualified. She also complained that the limit was 8, but I was holding a place in line for a friend who was taking our finished pots to my van. That's why we had 16 pots together. Another customer heard her complaint and called me greedy and started arguing with me. The plants cost more than double what they were charging just a few years ago. This place is horrible. Very little parking and they don't carry any youth clothing! After driving 3hrs to Corvallis and needing some warm gear for a soccer game I was highly disappointed in this place. Worst Fred Meyers ever! read more

Wanted to get kids shoes, but they have taken those out. The selection is geared towards college students which seems to leave out the families in town. Definitely not the selection for younger residents that it used to have. Sale and clearance prices are good, regular prices can be a bit on the high side. read more

I come from Salem, and this is my first month in town. Man was I disappointed about this Fred Meyer's. First of all, customer service is pretty poor from where I came from, then again I think most workers are OSU students just trying to make an income to pay tuition and so they don't really care since they're going to leave the job anyway. They do answer your questions, but they're the kind of people that's sort of unapproachable - at least the ones I have contact with. I love your eco-friendly attitude towards shopping bags. They don't provide plastic bags, but paper bags when I came here. Unfortunately, most people who shop here are also OSU students that don't have money to afford a car. That means you have to carry around your shopping bags even if you lose close-by. So I suggest you ALWAYS bring a tote bag. I was kind of surprised by this because plastic bags were always used in the ones in Salem. Unfortunately, they don't bag things for you unless you ask them to do it. Again, only due to my experience. This is very rude because it seems you just walk into the store, buy their stuff, PAY with your money, and all they do is gladly take your cash and let you do the rest of the work. They seriously lack service - even down to the most basics! I've never been to a chain store or any other store for that matter where you have to pack your own stuff! I can do it, I don't mind, but it makes the cashier look incompetent in his/her work. Lastly, prices are still ridiculously high even if they're on sale. My guess for most of these problems is because of their good location. They're in a city, and right by a large university. Not to mention, we get a ton of international students here that prefer foods from their native country most of the time of which can be found in Freddies (cheaper than going out to eat all the time). So their lack of service isn't really a problem for them because you get a ton of students coming in to buy groceries of which they don't mind losing favor to a few students here and there since they'll always get customers from undergraduates. I only buy from here once a month since I am willing to drive back to Salem to get my groceries rather than go through their store. These people seem not to care for their customers since their location is pretty good for continuous sales. Never have in my life wrote a review for ANYTHING unless it's an assignment or related to my work. Obviously this really upsets me to the point of writing one. read more

Fred Meyer Pharmacy has been my pharmacy for years. But after speaking to an incredibly rude and disrespectful pharmacist on the phone I am changing my pharmacy. I asked for them to fax a list of medications I have taken, to my doctor. After an incredibly long five second pause, I said "Hello?" Because I thought they'd hung up. They told me (in an annoyed tone) that there was no way they could do that, when my doctors office had told me they had done it many times before for other patients. And when I asked them why they couldn't do that, they treated me like a crazy person for asking. It's not my fault that they hate their job. Unless you like being treated rudely, I would suggest that anyone using their pharmacy switch to a different one with more respectful employees. If I was their manager I would fire the disrespectful rude employee who lost them my business. read more

As a customer and former employee of this Fred Meyer, I have always preferred shopping at Freddie's over any place else. Got off work too late to cash my check at my bank and my gas light is on so this was my only option. Apparently the company I work for is to small and obscure. I was told that my payroll check from The Hilton Garden was from an account that had bounced a check and they refuse to cash it. This is ridiculous! Aside from the fact that this girl screwed something up and her shift was over she didn't even try to figure out what was happening, didn't care that it was now the weekend and I was basically stranded in the parking lot. To top it off she had already run my check through her Til so it's been stamped like a paid check! I asked if anyplace would even take it and she didn't answer she just said "yeah didn't mean to do that." I would never yell at an employee for something bcuz that's trashy and mean but yasmeena and Justin, you both suck at your jobs and don't even pretend to give a shit.
