My 3 old friends and I were roadtripping to Madison Wisconsin for the Badgers game tomorrow. When It was lunchtime we headed here. The parking lot was full and the smell as we stepped in was like Italian heaven. The order counter moved fast and we got our orders in quickly. There we 2 Italian beef sandos and 2 salads. I added onion rings cause I was driving. The table was clean the service was tremendous the prices were great. The food came quickly and the flavors were amazing I inhaled my sandwich and the onion rings were so crispy and delicious. You want to eat here if you are lucky enough to be here at lunchtime! YUMMY! read more

Fratellos - The real deal! - Hot Dogs Near Me - Volo, Illinois

You get what you came for. Chicago style perfection. Came for lunch, ordered through the drive thru. Took less than 10 minutes beginning to end even though the line was to the entrance of the drive thru. My hot dog was perfect, exactly as I hope. Chicago style comfort. The onion rings were crispy and fresh. No notes. read more

I have been coming to Fratellos in Volo it has to be for over 30 years. I worked right up the road from there on Volo Village Road at what is now Rainbow Auto Body. When I first started going there they were in a small trailer. Wow does time fly. They have a nice clean dining area decorated with a lot of pictures and posters of Chicago history. Very cool stuff. As for the food, they have the best hot dogs, beef and sausage combo sandwiches, and Maxwell Street Polish Sausage hands down. Portillos is good, but Fratellos is way better. Whoever the beef and sausage supplier is, it's just so much better than Portillos. Don't even get me started on Bueno Beef that opened across the street from them. I don't think they took any business from them at all. They are always busy. This should attest to how good they are. To be honest, I had no desire to try any of their other food because I love these three sandwiches. Great stuff at Fratellos. read more

visited this location for the first time today. They have a good menu and nice dining area. It's at a very busy traffic location so getting in and out could be a while but the food is good and hot. Son had cheese dog meal with fries. He thought it was tasty. I just had mozzarella sticks which were good and hot. We decided to share an ice cream twist cup with was rather expensive $4.50 and not really good. It gave me instant brain freeze as it seemed to be more the texture of slush than ice cream. The colors were odd too. Kinda yellow/beige and super dark brown Not a fan of son would not eat it either and he will eat anything. Overall it is a decent place. I'd recommend checking it out if you're in the area read more

For a decent hotdog, hamburger/sandwich. Basically your run-of-the-mill hot dog stand/fast food it'll work. It just depends on the time when you come. It seems the later that you are the food there is older. So I would recommend getting there for an early lunch to get the fresh items especially the fries. Even though it is "cooked", (later on) it just seems that the fry oil and everything else is overused by the end of the day so you may get that old oil aftertaste... Other than that, it's OK. It can be hit or miss depending on when you show up. Just my opinion... sometimes it's 4 stars, sometimes you are eating your food thinking, "Why?" Good Luck read more

An absolute MUST! The menu is massive, with a great variety. Delish sub sandwiches, Italian beef, hot dogs, burgers, paninis, shakes, salads, and much more. Came here with a group of 10 and every single one of us loved our lunch and wished there was one closer to Kenosha. The Fratellos Italian Submarine was one of the best sandwiches I have had in the Midwest. The fries are hot, crinkle cut, and amazing. Both the guys that got Italian Beef sandwiches gave them 10/10 reviews. They also have amazing home made chips that everyone went crazy over, and the root beer shake was next level. Big, clean dining room with plenty of seating. The order process was quick and easy and everyone was super friendly. Can't wait to come back read more

Their hotdogs are Chicago style and when you bite into it, you can feel the hotdog snap in your mouth. I like the brand of hots they use. Also Their burgers are so good! Big patties. Service is fast. read more

Lots on the menu. Heard the beef was good. Not bad. Too many gaudinera when I asked for hot peppers. Really dry. Needed au jus. The bun was good and the beef wasn't bad. Service was efficient and fine. Got fries too. They were very good. read more

Ahhh Fratellos, it has been too long. We dined in on our way through the area. Plenty of tasty options on the menu. I had the cheeseburger with bacon. Soooo tasty and huge! My wife had their Polish sausage on a fresh Turano roll. Again, tasty. Their fries and cheese sauce were great. I couldn't resist adding in a tamale for good measure. Large, hot and very good. Great service and a nice clean dining area. We will definitely make this one of our regular stops! Oh and I got a bowl of their Italian chili. It's made with crumbled Italian sausage instead of beef. read more

Food is mediocre at best. Italian beef is barely passable. Hot dogs and burgers ok but I've had better. Would give it 2 1/2 if possible

Lots to choose from. Staff is friendly and quick. Food is quality and always good. The dogs are so good, it's hard to order anything else, but you can't go wrong here. read more

Fratellos - Dog and a corn dog w/ fries - Hot Dogs Near Me - Volo, Illinois

It has been awhile since I last ate here. The difference in quality from then to now is crazy! I ordered an Italian beef meal with mozzarella cheese and sweet peppers, cheese fries, and a drink. My Italian beef was bone dry and looked burnt. The mozzarella cheese was a plastic looking blob, like it had been sitting under a heat lamp for a while. There were no sweet peppers at all. After picking off most of the cheese, I tried the beef and it tasted blah and definitely had been sitting out for a while. The cheese fries were good, but my soda was flat. For almost $19 I was highly disappointed, especially since Buona is across the street and slightly cheaper. I always prefer local places instead of chains, but I'll go to Buona next time I'm in the area. read more

Fast food at a convenient address. The buffalo chicken wrap was good and spicy but it was a little strange with the cold cheese and hot chicken. The italian beef needed more seasoning and fries should have been crisper. The restaurant was clean and the service was fast. read more

Ordered a double cheeseburger, ketchup and pickle only Burger was undercooked ,very pink in the middle, could tell the meat was raw. 2 visits and 2 strikes, not interested in a 3rd strike !!!! It can't be that hard if you give a shit about the food you prepare! Overpriced Food, Attitude from Employees, Undercooked Food. Why would I return ??? I Won't , and you should think about keeping your money and eating somewhere else !!!! Nothing special about the inside, had a smell when I walked in the door, not sure what it was. M read more

Every time I order my food is screwed up. I ordered a Caesar salad with ranch dressing and you gave me caesar dressing. Can't eat that dressing! Toppings on my burgers and hotdogs have been wrong as well. It's not that hard to read a ticket and get an order correct. I work in the restaurant industry and understand mistakes happen.....but every single time I order? Nothing gets fixed and I'm done spending my hard earned money to eat whatever you all decide to toss in my bag. I'll take my business elsewhere. read more

Great spot for food, had the hot dog, was great, crinkle fries and onion rings. Good service and delicious food.

I have to be honest. Fratellos was always my go to carry out restaurant for Italian Beef, Hot Dogs, etc. but within the last year I have noticed a change in the quality of their Beef sandwiches. The beef is dry, the sweet peppers are shriveled and shrunk, and it is not as tasty as it used to be. I am sorely disappointed and hope that they bring it back up to what it used to be. read more

This is essentially the mom-and-pop version of Portillo's and I like it! The burger was great and the milkshake was EXACTLY what it should have been, super rich and smooth. Staff are friendly and make you always feel welcome. If you are nearby and want to try something different but familiar give them a try. read more

My wife and I went to the drive through for lunch on the way to the Volo Antique Park (another great place to visit). The food here was surprisingly good, and fast! I had the grilled chicken wrap, which was as big as a large burrito. It was good, nothing overly special, but tasted fresh and clean. My wife had the chicken pesto panini, which she also liked. She thought it was really good for being so fast. The french fries were crispy and hot. They were a bit under-seasoned, but honestly they really didn't require it, as they were pretty tasty, as-is. The REAL winner here are the chips (which are included with sandwich orders. They're kettle chips made on-site and they are awesome! It was worth the stop just to have those chips. Overall, they have a nicely diverse menu for a "fast-food" type eatery. There's plenty for everyone on their menu, and much of it is great for eating while driving. read more

An honestly crappy version of portillos. I haven't had anything good here compared to their competitor. Gyro gross. Hotdogs are mediocre. Italian beef was surprisingly dry. I'd rather go to Buneo beef around the corner. And that place isn't the best for chicago beefs either. read more

First time here. I heard it was a local staple in the town. Service was amazing and they were so kind! Fries were amazing and hot. I got a cheddar and beef. I questioned whether there was actually cheddar on there because it seemed to have melted with the heat of the meat. Otherwise can't complain! read more

Fratellos is a local treasure. Fantastic food, really love the Polish and Fratellos sub. Great shakes and burgers - the large strawberry shake must have a pint of fresh strawberries in it. Beef is really good too - and the parm chips. Not the best hot dogs in town but still very good - I just like sammies more for hot dogs. Love this place! read more

Seems hit or miss. We ate here twice this week, first time turkey sub and meatball sub with raspberry shakes. My wife had meatball sub and I had turkey, I liked my sub, my wife did not like hers, but I tasted her meatball sub and I thought it was good. My raspberry shake had no flavor, tasted my wife's raspberry shake and it had more flavor. The next time we were there I had gyros and wife had chicken sandwich. The shakes were better this time, they gyro was good but my wife's chicken sandwich was not good at all. read more

I Love this place! I live in LA but when I'm back home in Grayslake this is my number one spot almost every day! I get usually two hotdogs, ketchup, onions, hot peppers, no bun cause I'm allergic with a large cheese fry! Or beef and cheddar hot peppers, in a bowl with a large cheese fry. The service is great. It's fast. If you go inside, the ambience of the place is wonderful. I highly recommend this place! read more

Yeah, I like this place has a lot to choose from food is very good and the prices are pretty reasonable considering plenty of places that are that are more money. I find myself coming here instead of Buona beef that's across the street because Buona beef is more money and this food is great here for the cost For the price is right thank you read more

Gyro sandwich was very salty and disappointing! Too bad, having moved out of state 3 years ago I was really looking forward to a good gyro.

If you need something that tastes like Portillos but isn't Portillos, this is your place to get it. The food at Fratellos tastes exactly as you'd expect for Chicago style food. The hot dogs are plump and placed inside a steamed bun with the mix of pickle, onions, relish, mustard, and tomato wedges. The italian beef is nicely seasoned and filled with meat on a french roll, though a bit dryer than other preparations that I've had. Onion rings and fries were both nice and crispy, and matched well with the sandwiches. read more
