Office of Dr. Daniel Lin and associates…read more Some doctors get in the practice to help people. Others choose the disgraceful path of merely wanting to squeeze every cent possible out of their patients. You can tell a medical provider is predatory when you are greeted with the following kinds of signs right on the reception desk: 1) Ads/brochures for supplements. Total conflict of interest ... even before you consider that most of these products are just "snake oil"! 2) Obscene prices to get copies of your patient records. They charge like $50 per request + $10 per page. Do you think this is for some equitable reason, like, the "bonus" fees are going to the administrative staff? No. And do you think it's just "covering their costs", like this is anywhere near what it actually costs the provider for their administrative staff to fulfill these requests?? Again, no. Let's generously assume staffers get paid $30/hr. If they're doing such a poor job of admin in the first place, that it's taking them *2 hours* to copy some documents for a patient, put them on a thumb drive, fax/email them, etc., they're not actually worth that pay rate, are they?! So, tell me again why so many hardworking people can't afford proper healthcare in USA... 3) Ads/brochures for CareCredit, etc. If u don't know how these programs work: it means the provider doesn't trust the patient. The bank pays the provider immediately, and then, if there are any "issues", those are left to be resolved between the patient and the bank; the provider is out of the picture. They got their money and they don't care. Trust is fundamental to good care, and it's *supposed to* go both ways. 4) Of course they don't accept insurance from the "affordable"/public health plans. These plans pay less than private insurance. So, another helpful indicator if you're dealing with a provider whose top priority is to help their patients, vs. one whose top priority is to maximize their profits.
