Then, I noticed what looked like peeling on the hood and front of the car. The Toyota-applied clear coat was coming off , My car was starting to look so bad. A few people gave me names of local auto body shops No one wanted to touch my car because I had not been in an auto accident!! They explained their reasons to me, which of course, were all about money and insurance claims. I was, of course, going to pay for any work but, shame on me, I did not have an accident. Just wanted to fix to the clear coat and have effected areas of my car re-painted. Finally, I was given the name Brothers auto body in Cromwell. Problem solved! My car was beautifully repainted and new clear coat applied. It looks spectacular! No hesitation to give me a reasonable quote, no rejection because I did not have an accident. After having the truck for 2.5 weeks we picked it up after being told "the truck is safe, I would let my kids drive it". No sooner did we drive TWO MINUTES down the road the truck broke down. This was right after my son paid $1700 to have fixed. Called the shop and Ruben didn't care anymore he got his money. The other owner came and pulled the truck back to the shop. Long story short after two more times we took the truck . Halfway home the engine light was back on and the truck was leaking oil and tranny fluid. Brought it to the shop and they couldn't believe the work. Wrong radiator was used so they put connectors. They were leaking. The brake line was wrong and the list goes on. THE BIGGES THING.... THE WELDING WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. IF MY SON HIT 3 LARGE BUMPS THE TRUCK WOULD HAVE FALLEN APART! we kept them posted and they asked for a receipt. No problem. It was provided and that was it....they have ignored us. We posted a Google review and they deleted it. They are awful! We are now going to take them to smalls claims court and are reporting them to DMV AND the department of consu.er protection. DONT DO BUSINESS. HERE.

Something didn't feel right, so I contacted Ken at Safe Auto Service and made an appointment. I brought the car to Safe Auto. They did a test drive and pulled the wheels apart for inspection. Ken informed me my brake pads were good and did NOT need service. He could have just as easily confirmed I needed work and charged me. An HONEST man! I now have a new repair shop going forward.

Since I'm not great with cars I took it over to Rich's to get it fixed. They were able to book me for an appointment the next day after I called, find the issue/fix it the same day, and charge a very fair price. We managed to limp the car home. Having been to Skytop a number of years back and happy with the service and pricing I decided to go back there even having been told by others not to and that they're very shady over there. I should have listened. We get home and I schedule an appointment for their earliest time slot which was about 5 days away. I explain what the issue was to the girl on the phone and she said basically no problem and would I need a tow? I thought I would so I said yes. Asked about the price and she gave me a tow price of $150 for only a couple miles town in town. We decided against it the day of the schedule. We get the car there. Drop it off and talk to another girl. Maybe the same one? She takes some more info and I talk about the tranny again. She takes down some notes. I then ask if they can take a look at the tire. One tire has a slow leak. She said well we can look at it but they don't do tire repair and to take it to another shop. Um... what? So whatever. We leave and she advised if they don't get to it today it will be the first one tomorrow morning. Ok fine. The next morning I receive a text message with a laughable inspection report. Regarding the transmission... "Possible transmission work needed - Take to a transmission shop." So naturally I call and question this. The girl on the phone said she can't help and quickly transferred me to the service department where another girl answered. I asked her to explain and she advised that their transmission guy left about a year ago and they no longer work on transmissions. UM SO WHY DID YOU TAKE THE CAR AND WASTE MY TIME?! Obviously at this point I'm prepping to go get the car and take it somewhere else. In the process of making those plans I get a text message from someone blaming me and telling me I was told on the initial call that they couldn't promise they could work on it but that they may have someone that could do the job.... yeah no thank you. Something's not quite right and since I was told they don't do transmission work I can't trust this. Who's this person that they may or may not know that may or may not be available for service? How is that anyway to treat a customer???? Naturally at this point I'm frustrated. So I declined and went and picked up the car. Never again with Skytop! I wouldn't have my lawnmower serviced there.

It was clear from the beginning that he has been doing this for awhile (39 years) and knew what he was talking about.
