Then, I noticed what looked like peeling on the hood and front of the car. The Toyota-applied clear coat was coming off , My car was starting to look so bad. A few people gave me names of local auto body shops No one wanted to touch my car because I had not been in an auto accident!! They explained their reasons to me, which of course, were all about money and insurance claims. I was, of course, going to pay for any work but, shame on me, I did not have an accident. Just wanted to fix to the clear coat and have effected areas of my car re-painted. Finally, I was given the name Brothers auto body in Cromwell. Problem solved! My car was beautifully repainted and new clear coat applied. It looks spectacular! No hesitation to give me a reasonable quote, no rejection because I did not have an accident. Just kind, professional treatment from all at Brothers. Special thanks to Sarah, Jacob and Brian for making this whole process run so smoothly. My Corolla carries with it some very special memories from the past. I will always do what I can to keep it running and looking as good as I can.

After having the truck for 2.5 weeks we picked it up after being told "the truck is safe, I would let my kids drive it". No sooner did we drive TWO MINUTES down the road the truck broke down. This was right after my son paid $1700 to have fixed. Called the shop and Ruben didn't care anymore he got his money. The other owner came and pulled the truck back to the shop. Long story short after two more times we took the truck . Halfway home the engine light was back on and the truck was leaking oil and tranny fluid. Brought it to the shop and they couldn't believe the work. Wrong radiator was used so they put connectors. They were leaking. The brake line was wrong and the list goes on. THE BIGGES THING.... THE WELDING WAS COMPLETELY UNSAFE. IF MY SON HIT 3 LARGE BUMPS THE TRUCK WOULD HAVE FALLEN APART! we kept them posted and they asked for a receipt. No problem. It was provided and that was it....they have ignored us. We posted a Google review and they deleted it. They are awful! He seemed annoyed when I asked him if the parts were OEM, there was no detail on the estimate, In this regard. I have driven BMWs for 20 years. So I just got a phone call from a very highly regarded Bmw mechanic in West Hartford, who is known for as honesty. He told me my brakes were 75% fine a little wire on the rotors on the front and a little less in the back, but nothing I had to address right away. Whereas Portland automotive told me I needed a complete thermostat sensor yada yada when they check the codes, this Mechanic and West Hartford said he would do less and then see what happens (instead of trying to gauge me.) what convinced me to get another opinion was reading the reviews on Portland automotive, which seems sketchy, especially by men who probably it appears to me no more about cars versus the women to think they're very nice. Well, I'm a woman, but I go with my gut instinct, and in this case, it told me to go elsewhere.

They told us our alternator was dead, so they replaced it. Charged us a good amount of money which we thought was a little bit on the expensive side but they gave us a warranty so we had that to fall back on. At least that's what we thought... Not even six months later, and our alternator failed again which led us to think that maybe they had a defective alternator so we called back to see if we can get into the warranty that they promised us, and basically had to beg them to honor their warranty, which seemed very sketchy and just unprofessional for me. They charged us the parts plus the labor cost when a lot of shops waive the labor because of the warranty and only have the customer pay the parts. Unfortunately, this was not one of the shops. Not even three months later, and the car failed again so I decided to take matters into my own hands and change the alternator and the battery so that way they wouldn't be any failure of the charging system with both parts being brand new. That only lasted for about 2 to 3 weeks, so after being fed up with this issue, I decided to take it to the Toyota dealership which told me that the alternator connector was severed, the pins were damaged and misaligned which caused the alternator to fail. Two years, Four alternators, three batteries and $10,000 later I am now hoping that my car will be fixed tomorrow so I can finally drive it. It is a shame that AAA allows for these kind of shops to continue providing service without any sort of checks or balances, because something as simple as a connector could've been inspected and repaired. Then again, Toyota mentioned that they have only seen BAD MECHANICS sever connectors and wires. There's a reason this place less than 50 reviews.

From there I began to bring my car for oil changes and general maintenance and repairs. I own a 2004 Toyota Camry with 240,000 miles. Joe's Auto Electric has now been servicing this car for the past 7 years. Whether it is a basic oil change, replacing brakes and rotors, tune-ups, power steering issues, etc., they can do it all. You really get personalized attention from the owner, John, to the Service Manager Steve Baltas, to the Admin Assistant/front desk - Melissa, they are all very friendly, very courteous and very respectful. I can always count on their HONESTY!! I now bring 4 vehicles to Joe's Auto Electric to be serviced. When it comes to a CLEAN OIL CHANGE, no one is better than Joe's Auto Electric. When you get your car back after they have changed the oil, there is NO DRIPPING of OLD OIL that was drained which most places this is a problem. These folks wipe down EVERYTHING after they change the oil so there are no oil drips onto your driveway or garage floor. The mechanics/service technicians are very experienced and knowledgeable. They know their cars and they know how to repair them very well. I have been doing business with this company for a few years…read morenow with my Jeep Grand Cherokee. A few weeks ago, my Jeep engine light started to flash on my way back from my son's basketball game. It got the point where my gas pedal was on the floor and I couldn't accelerate at all. I called Computer Tune and Lube and Dan, the owner, told me to drive it straight to their shop. So I did, and he said he'll have his team take a look and give me a call. Gave me a loaner (2010 Toyota corolla, that sounded worse than my Jeep). Told me not to drive it on Monday (day of the blizzard). With a quarter tank of gas and the way it sounded I just drove it home. Within a few hours I got a call from Dan. He explained that "fuel started to leak on my exhaust tank, which caused my catallactic converter, radiator, temp gauge, etc to not work properly and he'll have his guy start tonight if I give the okay. He told me it would be around $3,800 plus tax for everything. I felt EXTREMELY pressured. I told him to let me talk to my husband and I'll give you a call back. He said, "I'm leaving for the day, and so will my guy unless you give me the okay to go ahead. Otherwise, I can't get to working on your car for another week or so." So I did give the go ahead since I needed my Jeep fixed soon with 6 kids and activities and sports going on next week. Fast forward to last week, I picked up my car on Wednesday and paid in full the $4,267.28. The invoice was 2 pages long! Dan even said " you got a lot of life left in that Jeep. My brother pays over $1,300 for his new jeep, so no need to get a new car anytime soon" Well, yeah especially since I just put $4,000 into it. On Saturday, I drove my jeep on the highway it started to flash with the engine light again. Then my temperature gauge went all the way up to "H." And then it went right back down to "C." Thought it was a fluke so drove it home. On my street, I could barely accelerate and it started to smoke. After getting a second opinion, from another mechanic, they told me this is the shops fault. He said "you just paid to have your radiator replaced which is what cools your engine and prevents it from overheating. See if they can take a look at it free of charge since they caused it." On Monday, I went in person to talk to Dan and see if he could resolve this. He told me that it's my "fault I drove it. I would have to bring it back in the shop and he'd look at it and if it's on them, they would fix it otherwise I would pay for the tow and all other costs associated with it." I told him my jeep never overheated in the past and I just got my radiator fixed from your team and now my engine overheats. He says "it's an old car and has a lot of issues." I felt scammed and didn't trust him after that. I contacted the BBB and decided to write this review to warn others, especially women. His shop caused my jeep to overheat and now after $4,000+ of repairs I can't even drive it. It's NEVER overheated before and I just paid for all those parts to be replaced and then my car overheats and he won't even look at it free of charge? Women, moms, beware, this guy takes FULL ADVANTAGE.

They gave me a next-day appointment, went through the car thoroughly, including putting it up on a lift, pointed out various things of interest, and gave me an honest assessment of the vehicle. You can tell he has a clean, organized repair shop, is knowledgeable, and is someone you can be confident in for any repair you may need. Cannot recommend Rich's Citgo enough!
