The plumber who came highly recommended to me doesn't do work in my downtown DC location, so I…read moreasked him to recommend someone who does. He pointed me to Capitol Mechanical, and I had nothing but a superb experience. Of the five or so quotes I sought on a Sunday morning to replace my old electric water tank that unexpectedly just stopped working, Capitol was by far the most responsive and gave me personalized responses (quickly!) as opposed to form responses provided by some others. The owner, Germaine, was the one I talked to, and I was so impressed and put at ease while going through an otherwise stressful situation. Capitol gave me options to fit within my budget (e.g., they offered to come out on a Sunday, the same day I contacted them, but told me I could elect to save a couple hundred bucks if I waited to get my service during normal business hours on Monday; they gave me advice about what type of heater and other parts to buy on my own if I wanted to save money by just paying for labor and not any parts). I also asked them if they could reserve a Monday morning appt. for me while I tried to replace the non-functional heating element on my own, as I figured the odds were high that my DIY would go awry and I would need a new tank installed, and they reserved the appt. for me while we waited to see if my repair worked out. In the end, my repair seems to be working, so I didn't actually have Capitol come out (yet, fingers crossed). But if I need a plumber, they will be the first ones I call. Germaine also shared that they are a master plumber, and that's the kind of quality I'm looking for. To top it all off, their labor quote to install the new unit and take my old one away was the lowest price of the quotes I did get. I'd pay extra for this kind of service but it seems like their rates are super competitive!

Unfortunately I cannot recommend this company. I was referred to them through my water heaters…read morewarranty company. The technician that came out (who I later found out was the owner) was very polite and explained that we needed a part that would arrive in a couple of days. A couple of days went by and I didn't hear anything so I reached out to the company. I spoke with the secretary who told me that the technician was not available, but she would have him to call back. Despite her promise of him calling back he never did and I proceeded to call back every day for two weeks without a response. At one point the secretary told me that the technician was in fact the owner and she had no clue why he wouldn't return my call. Normally I would have quickly called another company but I had to use this individual due to the water heater warranty company. After two weeks of calling without a response or the replacement part I ended up with a basement full of water caused by the leaking water heater that they were supposed to fix. I ended up calling another reputable plumbing company that was able to fix the issue the same day. I'm really unsure why the technician never called back, perhaps it was because he was being paid by the warranty company and felt that the job was too small. Either way I wouldn't recommend them due to the poor customer service.

What a rotten experience. Need a new HVAC system and have had a number of estimates and finally…read moreafter comparing them all selected RE Robertson, largely based on their price of $10,303. I called them back to make the purchase and there was one additional item that they said would probably add about $250 to the estimate. No real explanation was given other than that was their new price. Don't trust these folks - I never will again.

First plus, Mr Jarvis answered the phone! No answering machine or automated voice! We made an appointment for 4:00 that afternoon. Over the course of the day I talked to several plumbers in this area, taken 2 other estimates and had gained a little knowledge about the world of hot water heaters. I am a senior female, most of the plumbers appeared not to care for my questions about the service I was going to pay them to do. Mr Jarvis was friendly, patiently and thoroughly answered each question, provided information about the water heated he recommended and the warranty, and gave me a couple of options. His estimate was excellent. He was at my home 8:30 am the next morning. My new water heater was installed by noon and the old broken one was taken away. He left the premises cleaner than he found them! My water has been HOT ever since! Very happy with DSJ Plumbers! Highly recommend!
