We had purchased a new hot tub from Frank's some time ago and we ordered a replacement insulated cover through Frank's. They sent a young customer service rep named Ronin to deliver the new and take away the old one. When Ronin arrived it was a little complicated because the mechanical "lid flipper" needed serious adjusting to work right. He did a great job, spending at least an extra hour beyond what we all thought would be required. Would definitely recommend Frank's and Ronin. read more

Two months ago Franks replaced our hvac that was 21 years old. We had two separate hvac systems and they said we could replace both of them with one larger unit. Cost $19,000.00. WOW! This new system is still not working right. Our house is cold and the emergency heat does not come unless I force it. Have sent them email after email and they don't respond. So I bought a hot tub from Frank's , Worked with less than a year at which point I called them to check out what was wrong with it! They made it to my place and discovered that the heater was broken and needed to be replaced, but before even looking at the tub they asked for a 150$ up front. As it turns out this was covered under factory warranty, that is to say the work and parts were, but not the initial " hey would you take a look at this, it ain't working" They kept my 150, hope it was worth it to them cause I am not going back for anything. And here I thought we'd be getting along I'll give him my business (Heating&air) But no I go somewhere else for that. Potentially a costly screw up on their part, oh well people run their business however they see fit. (Makes zero sense to me however) read more

The service person diagnosed our spa problem as a controller issue (diagnosis visit, $177), which was to include the bid for the part(s) and repair. The office didn't respond for some time, and when they did, the bid was extremely high. When we asked for part numbers, we were stonewalled. I don't like giving bad reviews, but they were disingenuous -- it was unpleasant, frustrating, and time consuming. read more

Our double sided refrigerator went bad, they came out the first time and said it needed a new motor $100 so I said fix it, could not be to much right. Came back again a different person $1200, later and the refrigerator is not fix and they want to order two more parts and additional $800. I would never recommend them again to anyone. We were in the market for a new residential heat pump, we called Frank's and made a home visit ttappt with Blane. He came out and after some calculations recommended a few different options. We made our choice and did the paperwork. They expedited the work order and Fernando and his team did the work, which entailed swapping out the heat pump, air handler, adding an air scrubber, surge protector and cleaning the ducts and registers. These folks just installed a new Trane heat pump system in our home a couple of weeks ago. The process started with Steve, who gave us some options and costs. Once we settled on a system it was only about a week before the installer, Leo, and a helper (Sorry that I forgot his name) were here to remove our old unit and install the new one. That only took about a day and a half. When they left, we had heat, but needed an electrician to come run a new wire so that everything would work. The guys from Crescent Electric came out and got that all taken care of. Once that was done, Fernando came out to get the system dialed in and up and running. Everyone that we dealt with through this process was as friendly and professional as they could be. The install looks really neat and clean. They answered all of our questions and gave thorough explanations on how to work the system and thermostat. We couldn't be happier with the service and the product that we got from Frank's. On a side note..........it sure was nice to have that air conditioner when we had that Crescent City heat wave a few days ago! read more

My heat had been out for two weeks while I waited for another company to send a tech. The other company's tech failed to show up, and when I called, was told they had no record of my call, and I'd have to wait another 8 days for the next available appointment. Nuts to that! That's when I called Frank's Heating & Refrigeration. What a contrast! What a great company! It started and ended with Jose. He was friendly and professional. I was especially impressed when he offered us the use of an electric heater if he couldn't schedule the service for today. As it turns out, he did schedule a call for today. The technician, Kevin, arrived only a couple of hours after my call. He was quite personable and professional, and very informative. He explained very clearly what the problems were and their causes. When a required part wasn't on the truck, he had another employee expedite one to our house, which I'm sure saved a good bit of time. Kevin was fantastic! He'll be my first choice next time we need of a tech. Afterward, Jose called again to make sure all was in order. This is the best customer service I've received in ages. Last year the heat pump in our new house died shortly after we moved in. After a bad experience with another local company who had previously done an inspection on the unit and told us that it was working correctly (which we knew it was not) we were fortunate to have contacted Frank's. Their well-trained and professional staff correctly diagnosed the problem and recommended and installed a new, energy efficient Trane unit. My husband and I could not be more pleased with the product or the service that their reps provide. Technicians Joe and Derek just came out for our complimentary one year check up and I was reminded again of just how pleased I am to work with such a wonderful company with such friendly, helpful and knowledgeable employees. I own a bar in Brookings Oregon as well as other businesses which use refrigeration. My normal refrigeration technician was ill and I decided to call Franks Refrigeration in Crescent City California. What a mistake that was!!!! I am not one to write a negative review but in this case it is well deserved. I called Franks Office on 07/12/2017 because one of our ice machines was slowing down and the harvest times were off. I was informed that if I could be available between 10AM and 12PM that they had another appointment and would be already in Brookings and that the technician could swing by and have a look. The Technician showed up and immediately identified the problem as being a small internal screen filter approximately 6"x6" needed to be brushed off. A quick and easy fix constituting 4 screws one plug and the use of my shop vac and brush to clean off the screen allowing the proper air flow to the condenser coil. When I recieved the bill $309.30 including a $66.30 dollar "Trip Charge" I was less than happy. I called Franks several times and was unable to speak with anyone who could make any adjustments to the absorbent charges. I waited 8 days for the owner "Frank" to call me back with no such luck. Today I called again and spoke with a man who told me he would personally deliver my message to Frank. I received a call back from the owner "Frank" and I explained my position as to being told a technician would already be in my area and why I had a "Trip Charge" added to my bill? I also explained the nature of the problem and the quick fix that was required. I should add that we service our machines and filters on a regular basis and that this internal filter screen was apparently a common problem with the Manitowoc under counter ice machines. Frank told me he thought I was looking to get out of paying my bill and that the charges were justified. I got upset and said "its not ##cking right to tell someone one thing and than charge them another. Frank used this as his opportunity to end the call by hanging up on me, citing the fact that I used profanity. Guess what Frank I've now had my local refrigeration company here in Brookings inform me of your practices and your reputation. I must admit I had heard from other bar and restaurant owners that you had a bad reputation in Brookings and had my normal technician not been out sick I would never call a shiester like you. You ripped me off Frank and you are not even an honest enough guy to see the real issue here. I have rarely ever complained or made a fuss over poor service until today. 309 bucks for a fix that would have taken my regular technician an hour and cost me $75 buck !!!! Never again I suggest anyone who ever reads this to call a different company and get an estimate. read more

Steve helped us evaluate the right heat pump system for this house, and got it -- and some strange extras we wanted -- at the right price. Fernando especially needs to be recognized as the most skilled and hard working installation guy around. All our questions and concerns were answered, the system was installed on time, under budget, with all rebates, and it's running great. We are totally satisfied customers. Recently, our home's centralized heating/air conditioning unit went out. I did some online research, so I'd have at least some basic knowledge of heating units and cost. After which, I contacted several heating unit dealers. I try to deal with local business establishments whenever possible, and was pleased to find a local dealer, Frank's Heating and Refrigeration that met my needs. A helpful and knowledgably maintenance technician checked the heating unit to determine if the system needed to be replaced or just repaired. Although the heater could be repaired, I decided to have it replaced, due to the repair cost and the age of the heating unit. Frank's Heating and Refrigeration has a knowledgeable, helpful sales representative, Steve Borges. After checking our house and meeting with my wife and I to determine our wants and needs, we were given a free estimate. We were given a multiple selection of heating units that varied in features and cost to choose from. We selected an affordable heating/air conditioning unit with the optional air and surface purification unit. Steve stayed in touch with us during the entire process, and even did a follow up with us a month or so after the heating unit was installed. My wife and I are glad we went with a local dealer. We had Frank's Heating & Refrigeration replace our 30+ year-old heating system with a new Trane system. From the time of our first contact with the office staff through the installation and follow-up, we found Frank's personnel and service to be outstanding. The installation crew was professional and informative. They went above and beyond our expectations. A few days after the installation (on a Sunday!), there was a power outage at our home. The system, (as it was suppose to) shut down. One phone call to Frank's and no problem! The technician talked my husband through resetting the unit. Remember, this was on a Sunday. Granted, the tech did not have to come out, but he did follow through with a phone call later in the day to make sure the system was functioning properly. That is service! We would not hesitate to recommend Frank's Heating & Refrigeration! read more

Purchased a Train Furnace from Frank's in 2013 and was told the first year check-up was free except for the replacement filters. I was charged $266 for the check-up and Frank's would not respond to phone and written requests as to why they would not honor the oral agreement. They are not an honorable company. read more
