Frank and his team are fantastic. A+ service and skills. As a student tight on money, I am always a bit stressed when dealing with car issues. However I've come to Frank for all of my needs for the last couple years: fender bender, stall-out diagnostics, you name it. First of all, Frank is able to assess things free of cost. This assessment was rare to get for free -- most other shops that I talked to in East Bay wouldn't even look at my car for free. In the case of my fender bender, in just 10min, he immediately explained the issues and an estimate of the costs. He was honest and gave me plenty of time to think on it. After coming back a couple weeks later, he honored that quote and took my car in. Once I got a call a few days later, I was happy to see my car fixed up (bumper, fender, headlight) and in an even better shape than I left it -- the exterior was washed/polished and even small things on the interior were fixed up after some wear and tear over the years. I was very impressed. Best of all, no hidden fees or tricks. What I was told for the estimate was what I paid. The service is top-notch and I'll be returning for all my auto repair, general servicing, and body work in the future. Frank is extremely personable, funny, honest, and transparent. I went in for some suspension work after hitting some really nasty pot holes. They fixed the rim of the front passenger tire without even looking at the rear tire, which was also bent, so had to go in a 2nd time for that. Went in a 3rd time because it still wasn't feeling right, they did something else and sent me home. Had to go in a 4th time and was totally gaslit, told flat out there's nothing wrong with the car even though I can't get on the highway because of the scary shake and hum that is still happening. They said they took the car on the highway to test it but there is no way. They didn't charge me for the additional times I took the car back in for further investigation, so I'm giving them 2 starts for that. But will never bring my vehicle there again. Now I have to find a another mechanic to fix what they couldn't find. read more

I have been going to Frank's for almost 15 years. I have had two Subaru Outbacks; an old 97' and a 2012'. When I got my 2012' the dealership offered me a discount to do my service, there so I switched for a few years. That was a terrible choice. The Subaru dealership gave me the runaround on a strange issue and overcharged me for everything (as you would expect.) I went back to Frank's. I was treated kindly and got impeccable service with fast turnaround. Frank is helping solve the strange issue and hasn't charged me for the diagnosis. Ask for Dave, great mechanic and highly dependable. He fixed my vehicle's motor blower, which was caused by the resistor making it work double-hard. My AC, heater, and defrost works perfectly now, and just in time for the hot months ahead. I love my AC ~ I have it on all the time! Dave also replaced the brake pads and noticed the power steering hose needed a new one due to leakage. He diagnosed what caused the check engine light to go on, and it was the airflow sensor, which he immediately fixed. At Frank's Engineering Clinic, they fix all kinds of cars (domestic & foreign). They have a solution for everything. I'm safe on the roads again, driving to the city and shuttling the kids around like a mini-Uber & Lyft, mommy-style. My car was unfortunately stolen. Had to pick it up from a tow yard and when I called Frank's he was very helpful Even sent a tow truck out my way to pick my car up. Once at the repair shop the whole process was super easy it did take a while for my car to get fixed but that was due to a part taking a while to ship. And that's not there fault. After recovering my car it was cleaned out and fully repaired. Great experience with a very stressful situation I was going through. Frank was super nice and understanding. read more

Frank is wonderful. I've been going to him for years for my old VW Passat with no issues. When I got a Mercedes, I made the mistake of going to the Mercedes dealership who sold me the car and who charged me $500+ to just diagnose a problem, and then quoted me $5000+ to fix some of the issues they identified (but not all). Frank was able to fix all of the problems for $3500+ less, and explained all the work for me to make sure I understood everything being done and why.
