I had what I called a "vanity project" done by Frank's Body Shop in Placerville on my car. They did a beautiful job. The bumper and spoiler were chipped from rocks on the road (I guess?) which from a distance wasn't really noticeable. However, I wanted them repainted. Not only did they repaint them to match my car beautifully (yes, repeating myself), but they repaired a small crack between the bumper and spoiler I hadn't even noticed until I took it back to have the work done. I took the car to several shops for quotes and Frank's was the only shop that didn't advise me to either dump the original bumper and/or the spoiler. They listened to what I wanted and I couldn't be happier. Plus, why get a new bumper, which means adding the old one to a landfill? Nope. I've seen franks body shop on cold springs rd, drive by there everyday. this shop was close to my house. I left the car there, with my insurance info. Rich, one of the owner asked if i needed a rental. i said no. I just need ride back to my place. he gave me a ride back to my place. i'm sure he would have drove me to the rental place if needed to be. Jim kept me informed on progress every 2-3 days. Honestly....in my entire life, I've dealt with like (2) out of maybe 20 body shops, that I would rate their service and job quality "5-Star"...pretty much all the rest would fall in between "1-2 Star". I REALLY, REALLY wish that one of those "5-star" bodyshops were up here in my area near Placerville...because so far, 2 out of the 3 major body shops here ROYALLY suck. I REALLY REALLY tried to like this body shop and gave them (3) different jobs over the course of 2 years.....2 small ones and one major collision one. The first job was a simple "get rid of the wind noise" from the Driver's door. That "fix" cost me $800....and a slightly reduced wind noise with a Window that no longer lined up correctly when shut. I traded that vehicle in...so continually asking them to fix it, was no longer an issue. Second job was getting rid of Rust on a Work Vehicle and installing a Hitch. They didn't even bother to remove the rust...just sprayed right over it and claimed that their Miracle Paint bonded with Rust and made it as strong as original....which just resulted in painted rust just falling off later than sooner. But, I liked the Hitch install, so that was sort of draw on that $2k bill. Third job, my car involved in an accident, about a $7k estimate WITH a VERY highly rated and good insurance agency that I had. They were over a week late from promised delivery date...TONS of defects that they just half-assed, like the Taillights weren't even straight... There was still tape residue all over the car and places all over where the Wax wasn't even buffed off!!! MOST annoying was that I swear that they must've left all the windows open the ENTIRE time that they worked on this car, because there was like a 1/8 inch layer of dust EVERYWHERE in this car! They had done a totally halfass wipe-down job, but there was so much dust on the carpets in some areas, that you couldn't even see the texture of the carpet!!! There was even a coat of dust on the Folded Down 3rd Row Seat that was never even lifted up from the floor!!! So, why not "1-Star"...because they had some relatively nice staff, though inept at their jobs....and they gave me a free T-shirt that has been GREAT for cleaning off my motorcycle! Don't bother with Steve Stymeist (sp?) Auto Body either...those guys managed to paint OVER some tape and Clear Coat it as well....and their way of fixing it? They scraped through the paint to get the tape off....then used Touch-up paint to fill in the 2.5 inch section of missing paint. The ONLY major body shop I have yet to try in Placerville, is G & O....which their Tow guys have been pretty helpful and friendly so far....will have to see how their Body Shop is....just hopefully not that soon... read more

Frank's did an excellent job repairing my Tacoma after I had been rear-ended. I was thoroughly impressed by the job they did and I like to say that it looks better than brand new! I dropped my truck off on Monday morning and they estimated that it would be finished on Thursday. On Tuesday I was evacuated from my home due to the Caldor fire. It was extremely challenging to evacuate and deal with my animals without my truck, I called them on Wednesday to get a status report and they were behind because some of their employees had to evacuate and some parts hadn't been delivered yet. I asked if I could just take my truck back for a while to do what I needed to do and they were very understanding and said it was fine, but it was unfinished. So I picked my truck up, it had no bumper, taillight or lettering, and kept it for a week to transport my animals out of town, etc. I brought it back when things had calmed down a bit and they finished it in less than a day! The company (California Dent Removal) came out to our home and fixed the dent, and another dent on my husband's truck. Very reasonable and convenient. I love this place. Our 2000 Mustang was damaged from hitting a deer. They fixed the front so nice, we decided to have them work on the back. Finished job was spectacular. Nice to have a beautiful car again! Our current issue was the old motorized canopy quit working on the Mustang, I thought the motor and hydraulics were shot. . They saved us a lot of money on this, as we were pretty clueless on how to fix the problem. It turned out to be a missing bracket that Frank's was able to fabricate. Some shops probably would have sold me everything including the kitchen sink. My advice is trust this company to do your work quickly. Quality,affordability,and trust! read more

John, the owner, (his sons own it now) gave me an estimate, I authorized the work, and the car was dropped off. I was told the car would be done on Thursday; so imagine my surprise when I received a call on Wednesday stating the car was done early, and that the problem was not as involved as initially thought so the cost would be less than the estimate.
