Dear Frank, thank you for making such delicious barbecued meats. Your sides are also outstanding even the coleslaw is good after the last time my dad ordered catering from you guys. My son announced that he wants to go to your restaurant for his birthday instead of Indian food like he's been planning on having for almost a year. read more

Awesome. The best brisket in town. Real Texas barbecue, we are lucky they are here in Denver!

I've driven past this place dozens of times on my way from Denver to Lakewood and I've always been curious about it. This time I was driving home at 3:30 p.m. and I pulled over to check it out--just in time as they close at 4 p.m. I had no idea that this was one of the oldest food businesses in Denver. The grandfather of the current owners started the business in Bay City, Texas back in the late 1960s, moving to Denver in 1980. The walls of the dining room are full of memorabilia that provides an interesting history of the city. Frank's main business is catering and they can handle extremely large events. They include set-up, take-down, food tables, and servers. They can also provide tents, tables, and chairs. Food options include whole, smoked pigs, smoked turkeys, brisket, sausage, pork ribs, chicken, and pulled pork plus sides and desserts. Although the business is mostly catering, there is a small dining room at their headquarters and you can stop in for a plate or a sandwich or items by the pound to eat-in or take out. The hours vary and are limited, but they're generally open weekdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. I tried a three meat plate with brisket, pulled pork, and pork ribs with sides of cole slaw and pinto beans. The brisket was awful. It was sliced paper thin which was a first for my lifetime of barbecue experiences. It was also totally lean, tough, and flavorless. The pulled pork was tender and pretty good. The ribs were OK, flavorful, but hardly fall-off-the-bone tender. The beans were cooked nicely, but I would have preferred a little more barbecue flavor. The cole slaw was great, very creamy and fresh. I don't expect the cole slaw to be my favorite item on a barbecue dinner, though. I don't think these guys do a lot of volume over the counter. They are probably a better choice for catering. read more

Made a U turn to try this place after driving by for a decade. I'll admit the interior was nicer than I imagined for a bbq joint on Colfax. I had pulled pork. It was a little dry but I slap coleslaw on pulled pork anyway. And my god.... The coleslaw is the kind of coleslaw you dream about. The building of fairly unassuming but you walk inside and it smells delicious. read more

Food was sooo gooood! We had a party of about 25 people, mostly Texans, and they LOVED the food. I had the brisket and it just melted in my mouth. They made the pick up incredibly easy. I do wish they offered Mac and cheese - we ended up getting that somewhere else. And the pricing on their website isn't true to actual pricing. We added 5 more to our party and they didn't tell us the increase in pricing before charging us. But overall, a great experience and amazing food read more

Raw chicken from catering at this restaurant. Glad I didn't eat any. The other meat that I tried was cooked fine, but the chicken was raw. read more

Franks catered our grad party and it was amazing! We did the pig roast for 100 people, it was an open house so hard to estimate exact number of people probably closer to 175 or so, there was plenty of food and it was delicious. They were so easy ( and enjoyable) to work with, highly recommend! read more

Frank's catered our large company party on a Friday afternoon (70+ people). We had a pretty good spread of chicken, brisket, pulled pork, shredded beef, beans, slaw, chips, brownies, cookies, tea, and lemonade. Food was set up and delivered right on time by a very courteous and professional young man whose name escapes me. It was a long trip, so he had to work pretty hard to get everything to the pavilion. The quality of the meats was good- tender and somewhat juicy with some smoke flavor. The brisket burnt bits were the most flavorful, and as far as catering BBQ goes, better than most. The pork was not over done and still had a good chew to it without being tough. The weak point was the sides. The beans and slaw we're very institutional with little depth of flavor, and the cookies were good but nothing remarkable. The lemonade tasted like a cheap country time mix. The sauce was decent, but lacked depth of flavor. Given the quality of the meat and the exceptional service, I would not hesitate to hire Frank's for a large group. read more

Best BBQ in Denver ! best Ribs, Best Brisket , Best Pulled Pork! Always juicy!!! Willie Nelson Approved!!

I've stopped in by chance,I was on lunch Across the street is catering only, ended up here, fast fresh friendly service,

This place is literally a block from my place and sometimes there open , but often they are closed because of catering gigs which is understandable, so finally the stars aligned and i got to try day old bbq and day old coleslaw and day old egg potato salad which were ok, but i bet they be better freshly made. Better than most places in town. read more

I've been checking reviews for a number of years here on Yelp, but have never taken the plunge myself. After lunch at Frank's today, I decided it was time to start. I'm a complete self-confessed BBQ snob. I have a hard time finding decent 'que here in Denver. Been all over and always leave disappointed. Until today. Had the brisket and sausage combo with beans and slaw. The portion for the price was great. I've had BBQ all over Texas and Frank's brisket is up there with the famous guys. Not only was the food good, Frank took time out of his busy day to chat with me about hickory vs mesquite, Denver BBQ and such. I immediately liked him and wanted to support the business in the future as much as my waistline can handle. That was before he brought out a piece of chicken for me to take home and try. Which was just as good as the brisket, if not better. Color me impressed. Brother's is across the street. Not even a contest. Grab a box to go and support a great local small business. read more

Frank's is an Old Skool Texas BBQ joint that is family run and produces the BEST Texas BBQ here in Colorado. Frank's is great and he has a resume to back it up, catering plenty of Good Ol' Boys and girls' trips here to Denver. Being from NC, I am a BBQ snob, but am open to trying everyone's multiple times to be fair. When I go to Memphis I have tried Neely's but found others to be better! Some places do well from hype! I've been to LC's in Kansas City and others, just not into their sweet sauce. I've done the SC mustard sauce a few times (like in my other review, tomatoes weren't popular in colonial times, thus the lack of tomato base), and like most Texas stuff, but will never touch Alabama's sauce! So, I've been there, tried that (except Alabama's) and keep going back to the ones worth going to. read more

My building had a fall bbq for lunch today in which they catered with Frank's. I am always skeptical of bbq catering, so I admit I went in with a total b*****y attitude. Slap my ass and call me a believer! Frank's is surprisingly good. I sampled a bit of everything. My favorites were the pulled pork and the ribs. The brisket and chicken were good, too, but not as good as the other two. I also sampled their potato salad which was really good and was more of a mustard base than a mayo base which is not my usual cup of tea, but was quite tasty. They also have REALLY good lemonade. Not sure if I worked up a thirst due to the bbq, but it sure went down easy. I am really glad that someone in my building knows what they are doing when it comes to bbq catering. read more

Southern native with an appetite for everything! Been searching for great Texas BBQ and found it at Frank's! Don't look any further!

Best bbq in town in my humble opinion went there today for first time got brisket of course when trying new bbq place. Top notch

We ordered for a small graduation dinner and everything was perfect! Customer service is great and they were able to suggest the perfect amount of food to order based on the number of guests. Pick up was easy and the food was delicious. Probably the best BBQ pulled pork I've had in Denver. Thanks again and will definitely use Franks in the future for other events. read more

This is the third time we have used Frank's Bar-B-Que for a large rehearsal dinner (100+ people) for our family and out-of-town guests, and we've been so happy every time! They arrive on time, set up a large tent, tables, chairs, food and drink stations, give us plenty of time to eat and then pack up the leftovers for us and take down the seating area. The food is ALWAYS delicious and the staff is so friendly! We will continue to use them for our gatherings! read more

We were wandering near work the other day and trying to find a good place to go in and get lunch. Saw the Frank's BBQ sign and figured we'd give it a shot. Walked in and the place looked very cool, but empty. Someone came out and told us they were really just catering and to-go orders, but we could sit at one of their tables and eat if we wanted to. I ordered the brisket sandwich with pinto beans and it was awesome. Definitely one of the better BBQ sandwiches I've had in a while. They don't put the sauce directly on the meat, but it came with a little cup of it so I was able to dip it. The food came out quick and the guy was nice enough. I'd go back, especially if I needed catering! read more

You guys know I loathe giving five stars. We had a corporate event. Going to feed 180 people. I had tried going to a competitor but their credit card machine wouldn't take our card or some such nonsense. I called these guys a WEEK before the event. "We can do it, and it will be awesome." Pig Roast on! I know we offended a few PETA people but it is PIG after all and it was damn good! Tender, juicy, succulent. Their sauce was a perfect mix of flavor but not overpowering. People were high fiving me and posting to facebook in droves. It was a lucky coincidence and I am glad that things worked out. The sides, potato salad, coleslaw, beans, fruit. They brought drinks and poured them, they had onion, jalepeno, peppers. It was awesome. Nicest guys you will ever meet. The best thing I can say about people is will I use them again and the resounding answer is "YES". Great job guys! read more

We used Franks to cater our wedding in Granby, CO. We did the 5 meats, chicken, ribs, brisket, Texas sausage, and pulled pork with all the fix'ins. I was a little nervous about having them come all the way up to Granby, CO. But for the price that Frank's charges even with the $200 trip charge it was still a deal! Well we made the right choice! All of our guests loved it!! People were raving about the food!! We were extremely happy with Franks! Frank Jr was there to set up and tear down. Very professional and helpful. My husband was very happy with the leftovers! He ate BBQ for a week after our wedding!!!! We can't wait for his birthday party in October we already know that Frank's will be the ones to cater our pig roast!! Thanks for making our wedding food something great for everyone to remember! that doesn't usually happen at weddings :) read more

I was referred to this place. I was not disappointed. The chicken was nice and juicy, while the sauce had a nice tangy flavor. The coleslaw was not sweet, which is good. It must be homemade because it wasn't like your average tasting side. The pinto beans were nice as well. All the different flavors made for a good lunch. I will return to this place again. read more

I wanted Frank's to blow me away. I've been driving past this place for six years now, since I've lived on the West Side of Denver and have been frequenting Lake Steam Baths on Colfax. A few times I even asked the owners/ management at Lake Steam about Frank's not realizing that since Frank's is not kosher (hello, pig meat!), they would not be going there..... But today I called ahead to order a plate, and good lord, I was starving. I had heard it was take out only, but upon arriving, I saw there were three tables or so inside. the place is really set up for catering large parties, which I suppose should have tipped me off. Okay, here's my lowdown: Pinto beans: unremarkable. boring, even. Slaw: appropriately juicy, but without seasoning Pork ribs: not cooked enough - not even close to falling off the bone Chicken: PERFECT. Oh. My. God. Sauce: goopy, sweet and not my style. if this is texas bbq at its best, then I must be from Carolina, because it was so much that I couldn't even dip my roll into it to enjoy. Sorry, Frank. I won't be back. :-( read more

This great caterer came in after a last minute cancel and helped serve us in style. Lots of BBQ to choice from as well as the traditional summer sides. They were fast and efficient and the food was served at the right temperature which is rare for an outdoor caterer. The staff was friendly and we all enjoyed the food. I would recommend them for any company picnic or family gathering. You won't go wrong. read more

Just as good as 20 years ago... When I was a kid I lived in the neighborhood where Frank's is located and we would occasionally order ribs...they were the best I had as a kid, and till this day.... Fast forward to about a week ago and I called them up, talked to Frank (cool!), and ordered me a slab and a half... You have probably heard that Dave's BBQ is famous...what for I have no idea, that place sucks and charges more for shitty BBQ than imaginable. I would call Dave's the McDonalds of BBQ it's that shitty. Brother's BBQ, yeah it's ok...not really worth going out of your way to buy. Tony Roma's, well I remember they were good, but is it even around anymore or even worth it today? Prob not. Frank's, I drove/will drive clear across town just to get (I live like 10 miles away through city traffic, no easy way to get here hehehe). Frank's serves real BBQ, fall off the bone, giant delicious ribs that knock your face off. They make their sauce (which I can't really eat without ribs, it's pretty tart and slightly spicy) and it complements the ribs so well that it's obvious that Franks is a true BBQ master. This place is amazing, and obviously cares about continuing to stay amazing. THANKS FRANK! read more

Best BBQ ever! Frank catered our daughter's wedding rehearsal dinner in June 2017 for 75 people at a Denver park and it was very successful. So when we needed a small catering service for only 12 this past weekend we called Frank's again and they were happy to help us out. We were heading to pick up the order in a huge snowstorm and considered cancelling. We called and spoke to Frank who offered us a discount not to lose the business. To sum up, we drove on over, the snow stopped and all of our guests ended up coming. Frank offered the best customer service we've seen in a long time AND the food was terrific. We'll definitely be doing business with Frank's BBQ again. read more

Frank's BBQ is amazing. We had them cater my father's funeral and everyone enjoyed the food. They have quick responses and are very helpful and polite. Frank's is THE BEST! They have catered both my wedding rehearsal dinner and then my baby shower a couple of years later. They are affordable, delicious, super friendly, and fantastic at responding to questions. Everyone at both events we hired Frank's for raved about how great the food was...Frank even gave us extra sauce and serving utensils to ensure that we wouldn't have to worry about the details. I was afraid we wouldn't find real BBQ in Denver after trying a different BBQ place that several people had raved to us about and it was absolutely terrible. We lucked out and had Frank's at an event we were invited to. Between my husband and kids we tried everything and from the smoked chicken to the sausage links and all of the sides were wonderful. Even though we will have to drive quite a ways, this will be out go to BBQ place from now on! Frank's knows what BBQ is supposed to taste like! read more

This place is an awesome deal. The BBQ is amazing. Nice and simple with BIG flavor.

We ordered a large amount of takeout for an event for 50 adults and 50 kids. Only meat, no sides -- we brought the sides and drinks. Not every BBQ place had this option of ordering takeout of meat only, but Frank's ""BBQ by the Pound" was perfect for us. It was excellent and the service was friendly. I won't look to any other place for large volume BBQ take out or catering. read more

A pleasue to work with for our event. The food was delicious and our guests came back for seconds. Friendly and knowledgeable customer service. We had a whole pig roast catered by Franks BBQ and it was fabulous! Had lots of stellar comments from the neighbors, some of whom qualify as genuine gourmet cooks themselves. The whole pig roast also included bbq chicken, brisket, and pulled pork, all so good it was hard to choose when we went back for seconds. Finally, their fresh fruit salad was definitely 5 star. NOTE - this review is the real deal. We don't know the staff at Franks personally. We just wanted to give this third gen bbq family the accolades they deserve! read more
