Its decor is Italian, Mediterranean, it's not high spec modern it's comfortable tasteful friendly & welcoming. It's an enjoyable place to sit and eat. They also have an outdoor are and function room beyond that. They would make more use of the outdoor area, it's a nice large, enclosed slabbed area. The function room is great, will seat 70-80 comfortably, it has it's own bar and toilets. Very clean, very warm & welcoming. Doesn't feel like you are stepping into a massive function room but stepping into a Mediterranean eatery. The food has been fantastic, the chefs will alter things to suit. The last time we went there our favourite dish wasn't on the specials board that night but we asked and they made it for us. We recently attended a party in the function room, there was a buffet. I am sure they do buffets to fit all budgets, I think this one was the lower buffet Price as it was a bit "Mums gone to Iceland". But nether the less I managed to eat plenty of it as it was delicious. Price wise, you get what you pay for. It's a great restaurant with great food. We had 2 starters, 2 main course, 2 desserts, 2 side orders, olives and bread, 1 bottle of house white & a couple of soft drinks and it was under £100. I call that value for money. I can't wait to eat there again!

The food is consistently good, the service friendly and the value unbeatable, highly recommended.read more

Inside it seats around 30 and is decorated in a modern style that still manages to be warm and welcoming. We visited recently for a meal for 4 on a Friday evening. The restaurant was nearly full. All our starters and mains were served in a timely manner and were delicious. I ordered the scallops and duck and both were brilliant. This is not a mega cheap place but it is worth the money charged. We spent around £35 per head with drinks. The staff are extremely friendly and welcoming.

It doesn't look much from the outside but from the moment you go in, you are made to feel at home. A clean modern restaurant. All our food was served promptly, and was devoured just as promptly - all excellent. I have visited many "Italian" Restaurants both in Italy & here in the UK and I have to say this is certainly in my top ten! Good food made from quality ingredients, with excellent service is never cheap (if cheap is what you want, there are many pub restaurants to choose from) La Nonna is reasonably priced for the standard of food & service you receive, you can pay a lot more elsewhere for a lot less! Well worth a visit

Six of us were slightly surprised and disappointed to find that a restaurant that describes itself as real taste of Italy in a friendly and relaxed environment. had no other customers when we arrived. I can't help but feel that, if we'd gone as a couple, we'd have found the atmosphere fairly flat. As it was, the six of us probably helped improve the ambience although you'd have to ask the couple and the single chap who came in later whether they agreed. The service was good and attentive without being in any way intrusive. Peroni and Pinot Grigio got us in the mood to order. Many of us ordered the pigeon breast on bruschetta and pronounced it as being excellent. There was universal acclaim for all the food but the squid on skewers for mains is picked out for special mention; on a bed of vegetables and a large dollop of aioli it was succulent and tasty. Puddings included ice cream, crema brulee and a delicious cheeseboard finished off a very pleasant evening The bill for six for three courses, including five Peronis, two bottles each of Pinot Grigio and Corvo Rosso was £270. Expensive, but we'll be back.

I suggested that we find somewhere off the main road to stop for a meal instead. Shrewsbury lay on route so seemed like a logical place and we jumped off the A5 to look for a restaurant. We parked in the car park and stumbled across La Dolce Vita which lay opposite. It didn't look like much from the outside, and although it was a Wednesday evening, there was one solitary diner inside. Mmmmmm. A quick look on Qype however, suggested it was worth a visit. Considering the quality food they served up, I don't really understand why the place wasn't packed. The owner was delightful and the service was excellent. The food was delicious; modern Italian with a varied menu of starters pastas and meat dishes. Prawn cocktail was remarkably good; packaging together some delightful flavours. The rack of lamb was flavoursome and perfectly cooked, and the pane cotta smoother than a baby's bottom. It was one of the best meals I've had in a long time. And to think we could have wasted a meal on a trip to the services! If you're passing Shrewsbury, or if you're lucky enough to live there and you appreciate quality food, I cannot recommend it enough. De-licious!
