Cappello Lounge is part of The Loungers chain, they're located in the town centre of…read moreNewcastle-under-Lyme. I decided to come here for breakfast after spending the night in nearby Stoke-On-Trent. The look and feel of the place is pretty laid back and similar to any other in the Lounges chain. The staff here seemed friendly and were happy to modify my breakfast without complaining. I ordered the GF Lounge Breakfast with the following changes: - Poached Eggs instead of fried - An extra egg instead of the GF roll (I hate seeded bread!) - An extra sausage instead of the bacon I was a bit disappointed with the quality of my food. My food was served without the allergen red flag, I did clarify this with the manager who brought out my food who confirmed it was gluten-free. I later found out the flag was placed in the beans, which were originally missing when my food was brought out. After making the staff member aware, he brought them straight out but they were served cold. The eggs were very overdone and were like rocks, and the hash browns could have been crispier. The tomato was also much smaller than usual. The sausages were tasty as always, but again they were warm at best and not hot. I ended up eating my meal because I was tired and hungry and wanted to take medication but I did feel the quality of food overall was not up to the usual standards set by other locations in the Loungers chain. 2*

We've eaten there a couple of times, originally just popping in for a coffee, the food is excellent…read more- the Churro's are particularly good, and the staffs are lovely - so helpful and patient with myself (I'm disabled) well worth a visit, great job Cappello

Couldn't fault the place. On a cold, rainy, miserable post Christmas day, my friend and I had…read morewalked around the sales and couldn't find anywhere to eat without waiting a year to eat. Fed up and hungry, I'd heard good things about this place, so we decided to check it!!! Oh my.. Best decision EVER!! They had a three course lunch offer on, but being just after Christmas, we couldn't manage a feast, so opted for a course each! In hindsight, great decision, because we both left nursing a food baby! I went for the salmon with vegetables.. Oh my WORD!! A massive fillet of pink salmon.. Mmmm hmm! Heaven on a plate. It was served with a couple of roast potatoes and then a side plate of vegetables, cooked to perfection. For £10.95.. Ok it's not cheap for Stoke standards, but damn was it good! My friend went for the sirloin steak with peppercorn sauce! She was speechless with excitement the steak was enormous and a full 10oz.. Cooked just the way she asked for.. It came with onion rings, chips and salad.. It was man vs food.. Lol! It came to £19, which for Stoke is obviously expensive but when you consider what she got, if it was in London, it would be seriously double the price! Insane!! Decor wise it's a converted church which is super cool and downstairs in the bar, they have super comfy sofas and seating. I'd say if you live in Stoke, it's gotta be on your list for your next special occasion!

The restaurant is on street entry level and then the bar and toilets are in the basement. It's an impressive building and the bar is cosy but cool. Access would be an issue with anyone who couldn't negotiate a steep narrow staircase to get the loo! In the main the food is just ok, nothing special, just ok. However, the desserts trolley is well impressive! Unfortunately the staff are all young girls without much of a clue (or they were when we went). They weren't very helpful and didn't seem that bright.
