Ravioli Sofia

A really lively and busy Italian restaurant. Service is good but felt rushed. Mains took a long time to come out, over an hour. But like I said - it was busy. Absolutely packed, with people waiting for tables (though when we ordered the restaurant was not even half filled). Bruschetta was delicious, really amazingly fresh and tasty tomatoes. My Mum ordered the Gamberi and it was by far the best main. My lobster and crayfish ravioli was really good, but my husband's veal al funghi was a bit bland.

I may have found my favourite Italian pizzeria

Sensational food. Sensational atmosphere. Sensational decor. This place is the Italian version of El Rincon de Rafa in Manchester and lemmi tell you it is FANTASTIC! I've been on a recent mission of rediscovering the Manchester without the Man (Chester, obviosuly) Whilst our great city is unparalleled in the North West for foodies and the urban playground revellers, variety is the spice of life and with that in mind it's important to venture here every now and then. The service here is arguably the best you're likely to experiance anywhere. The staff are all Italian and seem genuinely in love with their jobs. Attentive and knowledgable our waitress had an extensive knowledge of the entire menu (Therefore expertly on point with all her recommendations) which is such a refreshing thing. My home made Mamma's lasagne was sensational. They also make pizzas that are the real deal I'm told. What an incredible place to whisk someone away for a surprise dinner date. Odd fellows bar is just across the road for post dinner drinks too. HIghly recommended.

Crabmeat and lobster ravioli

Saw the wonderful reviews so I thought I'd check it out! Ordered the lobster and crabmeat Ravioli (5/5) and LOVED IT! Though the portions were quite large and that carbs are very filling, I finished the dish. Loved the sauce and the flavoring. Nothing to complain about except that the dishes took a while to come (maybe because we arrived right when it opened for lunch) Sat next to the door/ window which opens out into the street. Great service and saw many locals dining here, and I can see why.

This was the size of the pizza! The Best pizza I've ever had!

I went to this place for my 16th birthday and i can only say good things about it. the service was the best i've ever had, the waitor came to our table within minutes to ask about what drinks we want, then two minutes later they asked us what we wanted (un-fortuantly, we hadn't decided because it was so quick) but then they came back a few minutes later and took our order. They cooked the meal quickly, i think it took about 20-25 minutes and this was at 7:00pm, when the restaurant was really busy The size of the pizza was huge! i was really full by the end of it. Because it was my birthday, my mum gave them a cake to bring out to me, i was expecting a quiet song while they brought it out to me, but that was the complete opposite! they turned the lights down, and played really loud music, while the waitors banged on tambourines and pots and pans. It was really funny, and i enjoyed the evening thoroughly :) I'll definitely be going back there! :D

However, we were chatting so that didn't feel like too long. Just don't try the pizza, it's just too large and too hard to chew, if you don't mind that then maybe it will be good for you, you can try it. The pasta had too much cheese, if you like cheese then it will be also good. The environment was good, and the light makes me calm down.

This is my favourite Italian of all time, I have been coming here for at least 7 years…read more. Tucked away in a corner .. near the cathedral this place is easily missed..I really believe they should advertise this place a lot more on the main street ..just so people are aware of its existence,,and not settle for crappy Bella Italia on the corner.. This place has great ambiance. warmly decorated with Italian colours and plants, and genuine staff...they have really great pasta dishes, pizzas but I come here for the fish selection. I have eaten everything in the fish section...and there is a lot to choose from :)...not to mention the diversity of wine to wash it down with... Every person I have brought here has always chosen the steak for their main...and nothing has ever beaten it....and. they have always compared their future steaks to this .. I usually go for the bruchetta to start off with, with anchovies, but last night I thought I would try the minestrone soup...this was tasty but I have to say it was forgettable.. For the main I chose the tuna steak...and it was shame ,,,as for the first time in 7 years I had to complain :( When the manager had first asked me if the food was okay I had said yes...but that's because I had only tried the vegetables by this point ,,,which were tasty..when I tried the tuna it was very very dry....I got to about half way and had to give up...The staff were very understanding about it and even the manager had tried it and agreed...The way the situation was handled was great..and he offered me free dessert which i took...I do forgive them in this instance because its been faultless every time and it was really busy last night,, The manager informed me to ask for the tuna steak to be cooked pink in the middle next time,,,but to be honest I have never specified or been asked on how I want my tuna cooked. Overall if you want good Italian food come here, they do a fantastic Valentine set menu...I would book in advance for this ...and if you want to dine here on a Friday or Saturday night

Convivio is pretty convivial with its friendly efficient staff and a pleasant interior but sadly…read morethe food is pretty lacking. There is a £10 deal for lunch. I was pretty tired that day otherwise I probably would have questioned how good a deal that actually is, particularly as I generally think £6 is too much for lunch, especially outside London. I ordered bruschetta and lasagna, two of the most basic Italian dishes. The bruschetta was just bad, unfortunately, it was made on a one massive thick piece of baguette of which toasting couldn't disguise the staleness and it was soaked with some very unappetising oil. The lasagna was just ok - again a bit too greasy, there was something weird about the cheese (it may not have been mozzarella) and overall was around the quality I would expect from a supermarket ready meal. Lastly, my Coke was a slightly flat half a glass, the death knell for me for any establishment...

The food and ambience were generally good, we just had two large plates of garlic bread to start, most then had pasta of pizza dishes, whereas I had Scallopini di Vitello alla Marsala, well executed, though the sauce maybe expected to be creamier, and it was a touch over salted. Three had desserts. I also I think maybe the pricing a bit heavy compared to some places

Exceeded expectations - rabbit pappardelle, cooked from the heart served in a small intimate space…read morewith real atmosphere. We were visiting Chester for two nights and knew in these Covid times we should book a place for supper. We Googled and consulted YELP and the Atina kitchen had as we now know excellent reviews and sounded interesting and personal. From the moment we walked in and Hannah came to our table our expectations were exceeded. The pappardelle rabbit pasta was a delight and the sauce we guess had been cooked for hours. We followed our simple but brilliant pasta with afogato a dish I have not seen on a menu for decades which had fantastic espresso and a scoop of raspberry ripple again not seen this on a menu for decades and vanilla ice cream. The staff were all very personable and the chef/owner we deduce not only still enjoys cooking but also runs a brilliant individual restaurant in a city of many choices. Go and visit and we think you will not be disappointed.

Despite this, they had tables available and we were promptly seated. I ordered a 3 egg omelette with mushrooms and spinach served with some sweet potato fries. I can't fault the food at all, everything was tasty and ingredients seemed to be of high quality. My friend had a burger which was nicely cooked and presented - with a steak knife holding it together like a dagger. They brought us a bottle of chilled tap water for no charge, and I also had a filter coffee which was pleasant enough. Almost a five star venue, just a couple of failings prevent this. I had to ask for the bill and the card machine a few times, service was slightly patchy in this regard. I would also expect a venue of this type to have wifi - and they don't!
