It was way too high on one side and too low on the other side. Instead of redoing the crown he ground it to fit. As I was driving home from the final fitting I looked at my tooth in the car's rear view mirror and to my horror he had ground the crown down so much he had gone through it. He had filled the porcelain crown in with silver filling. WHAT KIND OF DENTIST DOES THAT? I immediately turned the car around and demanded the crown be remade. Even then I had trouble with the remade crown for years. Kept popping off every 6-12 months. Finally I had my current Dentist remake it and have never have had any problems with it since. The next time I went in for my annual checkup he told me I had a cavity between my lower wisdom tooth that was growing in crooked and my back molar. I would need my wisdom teeth removed, then have a root canal and a crown. I asked him why he couldn't just fill the cavity between my wisdom tooth and my molar and he said he couldn't because it was on the backside of my back molar. After my prior dubious experience with him I decided to get a second opinion with my current awesome Dentist, Dr. Michael Spitzer, in Costa Mesa. He said yes I need my wisdom teeth out since they were coming in crooked and horizontal but that he could just fill the cavity on the back of my molar. No root canal and no crown needed. Needless to say, I never went back to Ron Thompson. Let somebody else pay for his Porsche!

I was young and dumb to think a "professional" who says something is normal and sometimes takes multiple tries is actually good at their job. She broke her dental tool off into the root of my canal. The broken instrument had to be removed by the vibration of another tool. I sat in her chair for two hours on my second visit and had to come back for the third visit to remove the broken instrument. Finally, on the fourth visit the root canal was completed. I was in so much pain and she would only prescribed 500MG of Ibuprofen. This experience has totally traumatized me and have avoided a root canal with a tooth extraction. One of her first statements to me was "I really wanted to go to med school but was not accepted". I should have run out of her office. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS DENTIST!!!!!!!!!

For example one Dentist I visited in close proximity to my house insisted I needed fillings, & told me it would be $300+ out of pocket (By the way I have the PPO Insurance). I didnt believe him so I decided to make the drive out to my trusted family dentist Dr. Kim to get a second opinion. Just as expected Dr. Kim looked at my tooth that supposedly needed the fillings & told me that the fillings aren't necessary. As long as I brush well & get regular cleanings I wont have to worry. Dr. Kim saved me $300 out of pocket for the procedure that the other dentist insisted I needed. It's very easy to tell when someone is looking out for your best interest or theirs. It's been five or six years since I've been to the dentist, and I was honestly really scared to…read morefind a new one because my last orthodontist was so nice. I was worried I wouldn't be able to find someone I felt as comfortable with. When my old orthodontist went out of business, I had no option but to start looking. I tried one other dental office first. I showed up about 15 minutes early but wasn't taken until about 20 minutes after my appointment time. That wasn't a huge deal, but I also realized my appointment had been double booked. I know that isn't necessarily uncommon, but I just had a bad feeling, so I decided to keep looking. That's how I found Dr. Frank at Newport Beach Dentistry. I remember my first appointment so clearly because I showed up early and Dr. Frank actually took me about 5-10 minutes early. He was extremely nice and had such a welcoming energy. You could even tell from everyone else working there and their happy, cheerful attitudes that it was a genuinely good work environment. I immediately had such a good feeling about Dr. Frank. At my first appointment, we took X-rays and he showed me exactly where my cavities were. He took the time to explain how advanced each cavity was, how they probably happened, and how much time I had before they got worse. I already knew about most of them and could visually see some, so it wasn't a surprise when I found out I needed five fillings. I liked the office so much after that first appointment that I canceled an appointment I had scheduled at another dental office because I had been shopping around trying to find a dentist I actually liked. I also have to mention how genuinely nice the ladies at the front office were. They took the time to explain everything about the cost, what each charge meant, what my insurance would cover, and were completely transparent about the cost of other things I was interested in, like Invisalign and a retainer. I don't know how else to describe it other than they had so much empathy in the way they spoke to me and even in their body language. They genuinely seemed like they enjoyed their jobs. The next week I came back for my first two fillings. Everything went so seamlessly, and it only took about an hour. One thing about Dr. Frank that really makes you realize how much he enjoys his job and how good he is at it is how attentive he is throughout the entire procedure. He constantly told me what he was doing and what the next step would be without me ever having to ask. It was almost like he understood exactly what I was thinking. At every little sign of discomfort, he would immediately take the tools out of my mouth and ask, "Are you okay? Are you in pain?" (I was never actually in pain, for the record ). I genuinely think that level of attentiveness is something you can't really teach. You just have to have that type of empathy, and I really think he does. After those two fillings, we scheduled my last three for the following week. That appointment went great too! Dr. Frank drilled out the cavities, and another woman in the office completed the fillings. I unfortunately didn't catch her name, but I'm including a photo of her because she deserves credit too! She was extremely meticulous, kind, and I think she did a great job on all three. Something else I noticed during that last appointment that gave me even more confidence in the office was hearing everyone outside talking, laughing, getting along, and cracking jokes with each other. It just seemed like such a genuinely nice place to work, and it made me understand why everyone there is so kind and welcoming. I'm also including photos of 4/5 of my fillings (both sides of my back bottom molars), along with photos of Dr. Frank and the other dental professional who helped complete my fillings. I communicated I need to get as much done as possible for every appointment as my dental anxiety is bad. They said that would be accommodated. Today I had confirmed in writing over text that they would do both crowns on my upper left side. When I arrived they said it would have to be separate visits. Additionally I have insurance through medi-cal with $0 out of pocket. They tried to upsell me $200 for an extra cleaning and refused to do my crowns without it. And also tried to upsell me another 300 for a 3d scan for my root canal. I wouldn't recommend this dentist to anyone especially anyone with dental anxiety or on the spectrum.

Every dentist I would visit would offer different treatments and solutions to help with my stained yellow teeth but in the end, there wouldn't be much of any changes made to my stained teeth except for a lighter shade of yellow. To just get to that lighter shade of yellow, it took around 7-9 years alone!! I eventually came across the Coastal Dental Group and they offered the solution of having veneers. I was at first a little scared because of how pricey veneers are in general, but Dr. Duong, a very kind and reasonable man, gave me a reasonable price for the veneers in which I can afford! After the whole process, Dr. Duong was able to solve the problem that many dentist's before him were not able to do, and that's giving me the smile that I always wanted.
