Dr. Karmali is the best doctor I've ever had, and I've had great doctors in the past. I visited her…read moretowards the end of last year as a new patient and she spent about 30 minutes getting to know me before checking everything that I asked her to. She made me feel comfortable and relaxed every step of the way, talking me through everything. Dr. Karmali is extremely kind, attentive, gentle, humble, and calming. She went to UW Med School, so extra points for that! Another cool thing is that Swedish uses MyChart, an online personal health record system where you can see your medical history, appointments, messages from your doctor, etc. Strangely, when I called to make an appointment, the receptionist said that Dr. Karmali did not have any openings until January 2015. However, when I went online to MyChart, I saw multiple openings between now and the end of the year. I ended up making an online appointment with Dr. Karmali for early December and cancelling my phone-made appointment with another doctor at Swedish. I am so excited to go see Dr. Karmali again soon!

Dr. Karmali is by far the best doctor I have ever had. I found her at Swedish Downtown on 4th Ave…read more(she's still there) when I first moved to Capitol Hill in 2008 and even when I moved down to Puyallup, out of state, and then back again (now live in Tukwila) I continue to keep her as my primary care physician. After my motorcycle accident in 2009 Dr. Karmali checked up on me and worked with my medical records from Harborview to continue with my pain management care. To this day she still works closely with me on this care and has been very good at keeping an eye out for my health and well being and continues to work with my pain management doctor at Harborview. Dr. Karmali set me up with MyChart (available to all Swedish patients) when I moved back to WA and through that I am able to discuss issues with her without having to make an appointment to go into the clinic (I'm already there enough as it is!) and she is quick to get back to me usually same day but definitely within 24 hours. She even responds on her days off and to me, that is complete dedication and proves just how much she cares about her patients. I have recommended her to a couple of friends and they love her as well. Dr. Karmali is very knowledgeable and caring. If she is unsure of something she will investigate the issue to ensure that you get the best possible care. She is just an amazing doctor and an even more amazing person.

Full disclosure here: I, too, am a doctor, so it's difficult to get me to go to a doctor. My old…read moredoc at the Polyclinic, Hatfield, has moved on from general care and is into a more specialized kind of patient, so I opted on using someone else there, Kelly Thompson. In person, she looks nothing like her profile picture on the Polyclinic site; she walked into the exam room with her colorful tattoos and a sundress, and I was immediately more comfortable. Normally my social anxiety around beautiful people would kick in, but she was super personable, and actually listened to me. A mentor of mine once told me that "if you listen to your patients, actually listen, they will give you the keys to the castle". She actually did, and she stated that I needed to get a diagnostic ultrasound, STAT. When that came back negative for what we were looking for, she even sent me back for another. Eventually we determined the diagnosis, and while there is no immediate solution to my issues, the understanding of what is going on with me has reduced my stress levels. Dr. Thompson is the kind of doctor I wish I knew outside of the doctor - patient relationship... wait, that sounds creepy! What i mean to say is that she's a great balance of "human" and "professional", and I'll choose her each time going forward. She seems genuinely interested in her patients, and as a huge bonus to her, loves dogs, not just her own.

Phone service is HORRIBLE! Why do people have to wait so long for someone to even answer a call? I…read morecalled at a 345pm on a Wed. I waited until a little after 4pm and finally hung up. I called right back and I get the "please call back during business hours" message. Why would they close the phone lines before the posted closing time (430)!? The dispatch center for after hours is useless also! I called because they sent a prescription to the state of Missouri. I live in RENTON!! Now I can't even get a hold of them to resend the prescription. Lastly, why does the business owner write a reply telling you to email them so the team can reach back out to you?? People just want you to make things better. Can't you tell by the negative reviews?? You can have your team call us back regarding complaints, but not answer the day-to-day phone calls? Makes no sense.

I probably would be shopping for another clinic though this one is 6 minutes away from home. I called today needing a doctors note which now I dont need from them anymore I called at 9:30 am no answer, 10:30 am no answer, 11:30 am no answer. It's close to 12:30 pm and no answer. I tried calling the dentist part to see if I could get in communication with someone. Nope lol. Super disappointing and frustrating as a clinic...soooo close to me is soooo far from allowing any type of communication. 10/10 care when you get in but -10000/10 for communication in any way shape or form. I may win the lottery before they answer the phone.
