Kreole Sweet heat wings
Jasmeen E.

This is a mobile food truck that moves around the city serving up authentic Lafayette style Louisiana food. I have never been disappointed coming here. The food is always seasoned well. The customers is amazing that's one reason to keep coming back. The food comes out hot and you can always look forward to trying new items. The is always somewhere to park because he's mainly at brewery's around Houston. Food and ambiance of fresh air is always a plus for me.

Cheeseburger eggrolls

Went to frost brewery and they were set up outside. I ordered the chicken tenders with cabbage and red beans and rice with the cheeseburger eggerolls. I was told 15 mins for the wait to get my food. The wait was closer to 45mins but i wasn't upset since it was a lazy sunday and i really didn't have anywhere to be. I finally got my food and the cheeseburger eggrolls were good but vey greasy. You will need to eat these right away or you will end up with a soggy mess. I ordered the tenders but were given the wings. I wasnt going to wait an additional 30 mins so i ate them. The wings were live!!! I would definitely recommend them because they are flavorful and you get a bunch. The cabbage tasted old so i didnt eat it. The red beans and rice were good. Overall, they were okay i would return for the wings.

Wonderful food. Amazing portion size, great customer service, the owner puts his homemade touch into every plate. The birria tacos and kreole chicken were absolutely amazing. Every bite tasted like a juicy double meat waterfall of flavor. Perfect balance of cheese and beef flavor. Not too salty, not too greasy...the perfect balance. Creole/Mexican fusion at its finest. Chicken tenders were extra-large, the finest quality white meat. Juicy, flavorful, crunchy, paired perfectly with both the chipotle ranch and the honey mustard. 10/5 starts for everything...better than Canes, and I'm a die-hard canes fan.

We took this pic as soon as we could. Unfortunately that was after we both ate quite a bit and I had a mouth full of that last chicken wing there. Basically, that sauce was some delicious sweetness to accompany the beautiful umami of the chicken. Wonderfully fried and glazed. Be jealous. Be very jealous.

Fried rib platter

Got the fried ribs platter. The rice was really good with a good mix of seasoning and spices, the potato salad was also good, but the ribs were definitely disappointing. They lack meat on them and flavor. Just tasted a slab of fried oil.

Frank and Richard's was GREAT! They brought their food truck out to my school, in honor of Black History Month last month. I ordered wings, dirty rice and a cup of gumbo and everything was great! Highly recommended.

Cheeseburger egg rolls

The cheeseburger egg rolls are one of the best things we've ever eaten! Everything was DELICIOUS and the owner/ chef was so kind and friendly. Keeping an eye on where this truck is going next so we can get it again!

Fried pork chop, deep fried ribs, red beans, dirty rice - I've tried 'em here and they were good! One of the better food trucks.

The food was amazing!! Very well seasoned. The fried chicken tasted like my grandmas Sunday dinner…read more I had greens, blackeye pease and yams. Also had the cabbage which was a little overcooked but very tasty. The cornbread was heavenly! And the peach cobbler and banana pudding were both delicious. This was my first time here but definitely not my last. I highly recommend it.

Finding good soul food in a new city is a journey... and baby, I've been on one since moving to…read moreHouston. After 3+ years of searching for something that gives me that Atlanta-level comfort, I can finally say I've found a real contender in Mikki's Soul Food Cafe. This was my second visit, and I ordered the same thing both times--the meatloaf dinner over rice with green beans (and this time I added mac and cheese). That meatloaf? Listen... seasoned just right, tender, and covered in a rich gravy that leans slightly tomato-based without being overpowering. Poured over fluffy rice? Yeah... they knew exactly what they were doing. The first visit was a 10/10. The green beans were everything--well-seasoned, tender, with bacon and onions. It gave "somebody's grandma been cooking all morning." Now... this second visit? The green beans came in a little confused. I got more potatoes and bacon than actual beans. I'm talking hide-and-seek levels trying to find a green bean in there. Still flavorful, but the balance was off. And the mac and cheese? Not my ministry. It was very heavy--extra cheesy to the point where the texture and flavor just didn't land for me. I won't be ordering that again. Let's talk price real quick: $19.95 (2 sides) $23.95 (3 sides) At first, I paused. But once you see the portion size? You calm down real quick. These are generous plates, easily stretching into two meals. Now here's my biggest issue--and it matters: The to-go packaging needs help. That gravy on the meatloaf is delicious, but it's also very liquidy. When you order to-go (like I did for lunch), it spills out into the container and bag during transport. By the time I got back to work, my tray was covered in grease and gravy, and it made eating a whole situation. This could easily be fixed by putting the gravy in a separate, sealed container. Final Verdict: When Mikki's hits, it hits. This is some of the closest I've found to real Southern soul food in Houston. A little more consistency with sides and better to-go packaging would take them all the way over the top. Rating: 4.5 stars (9/10) 1/2 And yes--I'm coming back. Next time, I'm bringing my mom for Sunday dinner.

Wife had the gumbo which was amazing and, contrary to what others are saying about the okra making it slimey, was not the case at all. word to the wise, if you love alot of rice, maybe order a little more on the side.....but it was amazing! I had to go with the chicken & waffles because why not! And, was not disappointed at all. It was so much that I had it for lunch at work the next day! Everything has an extremely solid flavor and will definitely be coming back even if it is way out of our way! we honestly felt like both dishes could have come from one of those hole in the wall establishment in the French Quarter. One negative was definitely the floors.....very sticky guys - Please address this honestly bad issue! The waitstaff are very knowledgeable and friendly to be sure!

Food: 4.8/5 Service: 3.5/5…read moreAmbiance: 5/5 I've been wanting to try this place ever since I first heard of it and my anticipation going into the restaurant for the first time with family was insanely high. We ended up not going because of the wait but I went back with a friend earlier today and it was REALLY good. Like insanely good. I got the Chicken and Gravy while my friend got the Chicken and Waffles and we both finished our plates cleanly. The service was slow, yes, but they were extremely nice and did have multiple prefaces regarding the wait time. The only I had food wise was that the candied sweet potatoes were a little too sweet for me (and trust me, I love myself some candied sweet potatoes) and I feel like the okra or another one of the sides would've been a better fit for me. The chicken I had was extremely tender and juicy, and the gravy had the perfect amount of sweet and salty where I just gobbled it down with everything. The vibe is nice and homey and overall this place was just great. It for sure isn't someplace you can rush through in 30 minutes, but that kinda adds to the experience that you get the minute you walk in.
