We showed up, and had to read the sign because the door was locked, hold the ringer for 3 seconds. I would say call for a reservation but we did sit at the bar and are really glad we did. We loved the Bartender/waitress and we made a few new friends while eating. The host guy was awesome and checked on how things were a few times. This is such a gem- the vibe was old school Italian lounge. The staff were great and attentive as we waited for our dishes. And the food was worth waiting for! Authentic homemade pasta - and the bread and peppers better were better than any I've ever had. Reservations are needed and must be made far in advance. Now I know why! What can we say .... Do not judge a restaurant by its outward appearance. Inside you'll be treated to a greeting by the owner and all the wait staff , including the talented cooks in their tiny , but amazing kitchen , if you happen to come in the back door ! You have to call when you arrive at the door and are let in at either the front or the back doors. The interior and ambience is great and decorated smartly. The calamari starter was the best we'd ever had along with fresh bread and butter. Our waitress couldn't have been nicer ! Even had a terrific wine selection. Each of our meals was hand - crafted, so filling and delicious! Although we could not finish our yummy meals, it packed up nicely to go home with us. The selection of cannoli, tiramisu and house-made NY style cheesecake were amazing ! We shall be back next time we are remotely close by. read more

While I was visiting Williamsport I was treated to dinner and what a great experience. It was Friday night and Franco's was packed but was made welcome upon entering by Fred who immediately guided us to our table. Our waiter was extremely efficient in describing the special of the day while taking our drink orders. After the drinks arrived the waiter took our meal orders . The four of us ordered a different main course. The salads were served and all were exceptionally. Four different main courses were delivered in a timely order with all prepared to the requested level and ample portions. Fortunate to have travel through Williamsport around 9:00 pm. The host assured me the kitchen would stay open until I arrived. I've dined at Franco's for over 10 years and it never disappoints. Always the best staff. Drinks are always on point with an excellent draft selection that normally includes Peroni. Franco's offers a small but diverse menu that would satisfy omnivores and vegans alike. Fresh, homemade pasta that is better than my Nona's is a specialty. Franco's offers several sauce choices. My favorite is the spicy fra diavolo. I also recommend the house balsamic salad dressing. Add the blue cheese crumbles: perfect. Proprietors Fred and Maria Danielle are normally around checking in with customers. The place is clean and small yet decorated perfectly with an eclectic mix of art and photos with a nod to Italy and music. There's always a nice mix of blues, jazz and classic rock playing in the background, but never too loud. I strongly recommend you make a reservation to dine at this hidden gem. What I believe was the owner greeted us/let us in (you have to be buzzed in) and sat us. Food was outstanding. Our server was terrific- nice, great demeanor and helpful with recommendations. Hidden precious gem. Franco's is warm and bluesy and unpretentious, so it may surprise you when the food is world-class. The menu is eclectic without overreaching. While I was most intrigued with this restaurant, most of my party was not. The problem was that they had very little understanding of the menu. Various items on the menu are not conducive to our heritage and/or lifestyle. There's an old-timey atmosphere which I found to be charming. The service was impeccable and the food sustained many compliments and same criticism. The marinara is to die for. Absolutely delectable. The shrimp and scallop scampi pizza was outstanding. I was not really impressed with the poppyseed dressing. However, I do believe that I ate THE MOST authentic and delicious carbonara dishes ever!!! Carbonara is hard to find as a lot of restaurants now substitute bacon for the pancetta. These are 2 totally different flavors and I prefer the original which is made with pancetta. The handmade spaghetti was light and flavorful and held the sauce. We were celebrating my sister's 72nd birthday. Her favorite is Chicken Parmesan. I tasted it and the chicken was tender and juicy equitable to fine satin. It literally melted in the mouth. Franco's May not be comfortable for everyone but, it's comfortable for me. What an amazing experience. Everyone was extremely friendly. I had been in here maybe once before when I was younger but as an adult I know the reputation of the lounge. When we got there on a Saturday evening all the seats had reserved signs but I was thankful for having a reservation. However, they couldn't find our name on the list. You would think this would sour the evening but Fred went out of his way to make sure we had a good evening and he even paid for our entire meal which is not something you typically see, especially from a small business. The meal exceeded my husband and I's expectations. I had the steak salad which was phenomenal and he had the tips and torts! Everything down to the bread was amazing and fresh. In town on business and my customer recommended Franco's. I loved the idea that the door was locked and you had to have a reservation and be buzzed in. It felt like an exclusive club. When I went inside all the servers as well as the manager all greeted me and made sure I felt comfortable. I told Jess my server I was from Massachusetts and would never be here again and she recommended the Tips and Torts and she was not wrong. It was delicious. Paired perfect with a glass of Cabernet.
