We discovered it next day and called the daytime manager and asked what happened and why they didn't say anything to use. They deny anything happened and said if it did that it would be the Liberty station next door since they did the alignment. Liberty denies the damage also. The manager won't even have the station owner call me to discuss. Hard to believe that the owner is dodging this. They think people are stupid and they can just deny everything and I'll go away. They over-filled my engine oil. When I told the master mechanic about it, he incorrectly said it is okay if it was slightly overfilled. I used my own oil extractor and removed about 1/2 qts. They also overfilled my transmission oil, which I recently changed myself, without letting me know. This station is sabotaging customers' cars to gain more business! read more

Earlier this year, I purchased four tires and got an alignment. My tires are now bald which should not be the case, and I suspected that the mechanic sold me used tires and claimed that they were new. Today, upon getting an estimate for new tires at a different shop, I was told that there was no way that the tires were new when I received them and that there was no way the mechanic had done an alignment, as the tires would not be nearly as badly worn had an alignment actually been performed. It is appalling that they practice such shady business ethics and would go so far as to LIE about services rendered to swindle their patrons out of their hard earned money. If you want your car actually taken care of and the services you request (and PAY for) actually completed, go somewhere else. read more

They are dishonest, they said I had a loose ball joint and leak in my exhaust so I took to my mechanic he replaced a brake light which they had not even told me about, and told me to go to another inspection as there was no leak whatsover and all he did was tighten my ball joint. At one time I would have and did recommended Franconia Gulf. Not any more. After a repair to my wife's vehicle which we weren't satisfied with we decided to have our repairs preformed elsewhere. Out of convenience I took my new car there to have a state inspection preformed. When I took it in the person doing the inspection carelessly let my car door open and hit something in their shop. When confronted with the damage he had caused he denied it and lied. The managements reaction clearly showed they could care less about the damage to my vehicle. Great repairs always. The garage has all the technology I need to service my cars. From my ford to my Nissan. Gulf saved me from major dealership cost. When I my Nissan needed a manifold gasket and intake along other repairs they saved me $1400 and safety inspections were a plus too. This Gulf is very unethical in the way they conduct business. We had our van inspected on a Wednesday morning to prepare it for a long trip and they neglected to tell us that we should also get the van's tired aligned. As a result, once we arrived at our destination (five hours away), we noticed that the tires look VERY worn down. They were on the verge of popping. We called the mechanics and told them about what had happened and told us to change the two front tires and keep the receipt so that they will REFUND the money. So we did as told, and when we got back here to get the refund... THEY REFUSED TO PAY FOR BOTH TIRES! They said they will only pay for ONE of the tires and for the alignment.. which was not even part of the agreement. So they try to compensate for their lies by offering a free tune up... but honestly, would you come back here for a tune up if they were that dishonest? I think not either. read more

I took advantage of a $120 coupon brakes replacement but ended up paying $600+. So why 4 stars? Because Wayne (manager) and Franchesco (owner) were cordial and treated me with utmost respect as a customer. Wayne did explain that the coupon which actually was produced by the former manager, was to only replace the pads. Obviously, my car needed more than just pads. Coupon also had a 10% discount which was applied to the final bill. Neverthless, the $120 to $600+ left a bad taste in my mouth. Thus, 1 less start to make it perfect. I didn't know the woman ahead of me was turning around so I pulled up and began my transaction. He became abusive towards me and got in my face but backed off when I pointed the gas nossle at his face. I should have called the police but decided not to waste my time. 1) Less than 2 months ago I took my car for oil change to Gulf Station at Franconia rd Alexandria VA. I paid $45.00. 2 weeks later the steering wheel started to act hardly and my tires were making a cracking metal noise when I turned the steering wheel. While I was at their shop for an Alternator problem I asked them to check what was wrong with my car tires and the steering wheel. Without being a mechanic I knew it was an oil problem! I asked Kam (the mechanic) to put some oil in the steering wheel tank and "Yes" the tank was completely empty from lubricant! This simply means they did not check or fill the liquids when they did the oil change service. When I complained the owner said, "the $45.00 you paid was just for the oil change, we do not check or fill the liquids!" THIS WAS NOT FAIR AT ALL ! 2)I drove to Gulf station at Franconia rd Alexandria VA because it was the closest place I could get from where I was, my car was going to stop at any minute. My car had alternator problem and wouldn't start. As soon as I got there, my car simply stopped working. They checked it and they found out it was the Alternator not the Battery. They said "OK" we going to order another Alternator and "try" to put it. Apparently they did not order the right one for my Ford Focus or they did not know how to install it because my car started shaking and the battery started going "On" and "Off" after they installed "supposedly a new Alternator". I went to their mechanic shop to complain 7 times and they made me leave my car there 3 times wholes days without working on the Alternator problem. After many complain the owner decided to ask his mechanics to check the Alternator again. Finally they fixed the alternator; the light signal stopped coming "On" on the dashboard. However at the end of the day when I went to pick my car up from their shop I found it on the side, the engine was "On" (God knows for how long?), the window was down. I turned the ignition "Off" and I went to the front desk to complain why my car was left with the engine "On" for too long? It was the end of the day and all mechanics left already. I went back to start my car and my car started to shake badly and the engine light came "On" on the dashboard, a new problem! Now they are saying "we fixed the alternator but your engine is another problem". The thing is: I never had engine problem before they started working on my car! read more

What a lifesaver! I noticed my tire pressure was low on my lunch break. The self service air was out of order, so I asked (Supah) Mario for help. He pumped up as well as lifted and inspected my tires in a matter of a few minutes. He even topped off my wiper fluid when I mentioned it was low. Before I start writing this review I want to say i'm a person that likes to live by the Golden rule and I'm not just saying that I treat people like I would like to be treated so I stop at this gas station to pump $40 of gas but at the same time it was a rainy day in my windshield wiper had stopped working on the driver sidegot out to check it out and realize that one of the screws had come loose so I just needed to be tightened with the ranch so I pay for my gas and asked to speak to the mechanic I told him my situation and before I could finish she says oh that's going to be about $40 I said all I need is a wrench to tighten the screw up then he comes at me and saying I'm not going to argue with you it's $40 he wasn't trying to let me explain to him that the screw came loose it was going to take only but three seconds to screw it back on and have the windshield wiper work again so I didn't argue with him I left but I felt like that was not customer service so what I did I ended up going to AutoZone explaining what was going on before I even finished I had one of the employees come look at it and did it right there on the spot and it took literally less than five seconds to tighten the screw. All I'm going to say is Let's have morals there are times where we can lend a hand and it doesn't require to charge someone an arm and a leg for something that's only going to take seconds of your life read more

I have to commend Francesco (Owner of Franconia Gulf Station in Alexandria) and Ray(Lead Technician) for taking the time to resolve my car repair job from back over a year ago. My Oil Pan and gasket was never replaced properly by one of the mechanics. I called Francesco, and he was so polite and asked me to bring the car back in and that he would look at the problem with Ray and see what could be done. Well after a year, and all the old mechanics are all gone, they examined the car and Ray found the problem and Francesco had 2 of his mechanics work on the car to replace the Oil Pan, New proper gasket and check tires, and additions, and am I so happy! I used to get my gas at this station because it's convenient but a stop there on a cold rainy day in January changed my mind. One tire was low so I tried to fill it from their air pump. When my tire pressure gauge didn't work right I went in to ask at the desk if I could borrow their gauge. The mechanic (there was only one on duty) came out and said I could use his but I better bring it back. He barely took time from his phone conversation to say that. I took his gauge and saw that the tire was still very low. When I asked the mechanic, who was off the phone, to please assist he said he does not help customers when it's raining out! I was stunned! He returned to the garage, I returned his tire gauge to the front desk and was walking back to my car when he came out and shouted that he wanted his gauge back! I told him it was on the front desk. I then drove to the Liberty station next door where I received the help I needed from a very pleasant crew. I would highly recommend the Liberty station and would NEVER recommend the Gulf station to anyone. read more

This used to be a great place to get your car serviced. Unfortunately, with the new service manager, that all has changed. I took both of our cars in for their annual safety inspections as usual. One car, he rejected because one of the optional auxiliary lights inside the taillight housing was out. He wanted $50 to replace it. I said thanks but no thanks and did it myself. My other car, he stated needed a new lower ball joint which I found odd since that shop had just replaced the lower A-arm less than 10,000 miles ago. I knew the car needed an alignment, and he quoted me a fair price for both, so I verbally agreed to let him do the work. The car isn't ready the next day as promised. When I arrive the second day, I discover that he is trying to charge me $300 more than what I was quoted, and the service manager has gone home for the day, so I'll have to come back the next day. When I return, the service manager tries to bully me into paying the higher rate until the general manager steps in and offers a compromise for only $150 more than verbally quoted. I accepted this offer to get the situation resolved. Then when I walk out to my car, I review the alignment report that is sitting face down on the passenger seat. The initial readings were all within spec or within 0.1 degree of spec except for the front end camber. They "corrected" the 0.1 degree discrepancy (this can be done by simply pushing on the tire) but did nothing for the front end camber. Instead, they put a note that stated that correcting the camber would require a tool that they did not have access to, so it wasn't done. So I paid $150 more than quoted for service that wasn't even done. Oh, and they forgot to install the boot on the ball joint that they installed, so I'll be needing a new one of those again soon too. Needless to say, I'll never be going back. read more
