I also sometimes works from the library. There are little quiet nooks next to windows which are ideal for quiet concentrated work. The WiFi is reliable and fast enough, the bathrooms are clean, and there are water fountains. I also often borrow books, either physical or digital copies. The Minuteman Library Network has a ton of books and they will ship them to your library of choice. There are still more things that I haven't yet tried: 3D printing, classes and events, and reserving rooms for my meetings. Finally I have found the staff to be very knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with.

The newer movies do cost a $1 but having the option of a week for others in the family is a nice bonus. It is quiet there and it appears that most people respect the no cell phone and both turn them off and do not make calls. You can actually sit, read, browse or use their computers and hear yourself think. Silence these days can be a beautiful thing. I will be sad to see this branch relocate with the new build but change is change, always happening.

A very, very special…read morelibrary The first Hopedale library started back in 1855 and it was just a few hundred books stuck in the back of a school until Joseph Bancroft built this library in 1898 in honor of his wife Sylvia. He stated he wanted something very, very special to be constructed in her memory and he definitely got his wish. I've seen a whole heap of libraries but this is one that that made my jaw drop. Just so many unusual and different things to look at, the books inside seem absolutely irrelevant. The first thing that catches your eye is the building itself, made of pink Milford granite and fashioned after an Oxford chapel, it is indeed stunning. Strange and mysterious, it looks like it was just plunked down from somewhere else. If you go over to the side you will notice a huge fountain. This was a gift from another local resident and was actually used as a for drinking until the board of health decided it probably wasn't a good idea to have people drinking from the same fountain as horses, dogs and pigeons. Once inside the library your eyes will immediately seek the ceiling. Exposed beams and intricate carvings will strain your neck and your sense of reality. How can this really be a library? The quiet and darkness just adds to the ambiance. Plenty of cool old pictures of cool old people long gone and strange antiques are everywhere and dark and spooky corners and rooms complete the bizarre and extraordinary landscape. The librarian was friendly and helpful but rather reserved, like she knew she worked in the coolest damn library in the whole state and there was no need to be obvious about it. I've seen a lot of libraries and it takes a very special library to really impressive me but the Bancroft Library certainly did the trick. Sylvia Bancroft did indeed get something, very, very special in her memory.

The historic building in which the library is housed is currently undergoing a huge renovation, and the library is currently located in temporary digs in the shopping center near Roche Brothers and Panera. There are windows everywhere which allows natural light to come in all directions which is great when you are studying for hours and need some vitamin d. The librarians are very friendly and helpful. You don't even need a library card to take books out, just your license. If they don't have a specific book you were looking for they will order it from another library and send you an email when it's ready. There selection is vast too so they usually do have the books I am looking for. They have two lots for parking so you will always find a spot.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. There were people at almost every table on three different floors. The children's section was very cute. The library appeared to have an extensive collection for both adults and children. We walked into the older section of the library and we were amazed. It was definitely more like a museum. The murals on the wall and ceiling were stunning. The outside fountain area was beautiful. There were people taking photos for special events and many people like us just in awe of our surroundings. What a great find!
