Well this time I was here to actually buy a BOOK! Thuy and I walked the Square a few nights ago, looking in windows. When we passed Arts & Letters Bookstore, we spotted a book we wanted to buy for our newest nephew. The book? "The Little Puppy (part of My Little Animal Friend)" by Nicola Killen. The clerk who helped us, Brandy, was very friendly and helpful. I asked about local authors, and learned there is a section just for them. In the same area, is books specific to Granbury. Very cool little find. I also bought some Granbury themed stickers for random gifts for random friends. I also joined the free shoppers club (if it has a real name, it slipped my mind), where after spending $100, you get $10 of your next purchase. I now know what people are getting for gifts next year... Books on Granbury, written by Granburians!

There were books everywhere, which reminded me of a scavenger hunt or finding hidden treasure. In spite of the seeming disorganized nature of the book stacks, there was a sense of purpose in how they were arranged. In my opinion, the prices seemed a little high, or maybe I'm so accustomed to paying only a few dollars for my books. Either way, I very much enjoyed my time sifting through the mountains of books. The staff member at the desk seemed personable, once engaged in conversation. He even made a great recommendation for lunch. Please don't let places like this disappear from our collective memory. Recycle Books Records is a true Texas gem!…read more This amazing used bookstore and record store is located in the heart of Denton, TX inside a 100+-year-old opera house. They have been independently and family-owned for over 40 years, and they are a must-stop for all book and music lovers out there. This store is HUGE with over half-a-million books, movies, music and memorabilia. However, I think what makes them extra special is the curated selection of Horror and Thriller books, including some very unique collectibles. I am more into contemporary, so keep in mind those books are located on the top floor of their second building. Their children's book section was also incredible but frankly I didn't have the patience to go through them. This store can be a little overwhelming so definitely take a breath and ask for help if you can't find the genre you are looking for.
