They are kind, knowledgeable, and supportive, but the front office and administrative side has been consistently frustrating. The administrative staff is disorganized and unprofessional. They frequently mix up appointment times, give conflicting information, and make even simple tasks feel unnecessarily difficult. They don't use email or an online portal to send updates, test results, or appointment confirmations, which makes it almost impossible to keep track of anything. Everything has to be done by phone, and the communication is often curt or dismissive. Another major frustration is that any time I need bloodwork, I have to schedule a completely separate appointment with a third-party lab instead of being able to do it in-office. This makes routine prenatal care far more inconvenient than it needs to be. I really wanted to have a good experience here, especially since the clinical care from the midwives has been positive, but the front-office management has caused so much stress and confusion that I'm choosing to switch practices. She infrequently answers emails and then complains if you send too many. She took my blood the first visit where she brought in her new puppy. She paid more attention to the puppy than me and then charged me $300 for the visit. Okay. Hopefully she can fix my issue. The blood work came back. The report showed I had pre diabetes, lupus and some other horrible disease. She said I needed her to interpret the findings. Then she gave me 20 vitamins to purchase and take every day! I'm still having sugar issues and my eyes going wonky. OH!!!! And she charged me for a telephone visit to go over these results. Another $300!!! I took the report to my GP. I was so freaked out!!! He did blood work and I was fine. No diabeties no lupus. No other diseases. Fast forward 6 months. And my sugar is still messed up. My eyes are still wonky. Sent her an email asking why my sugar is still messed up. She didn't respond. Sent another email. She responded with an appointment. Sent back that time didn't work. Never heard back. In my opinion and experience, if you have medical issues, this doctor is not for you. If you need help and communication with your doctor. This is not the one. I have never had a hormone doctor charge me for tests and then another charge to review them!!! $600 later and a whole lot of stress because of her blood tests, I still have a sugar issue and my eyes are still going wonky! Dr. Matthew: I am a mother of FOUR. All four of my children have been seeing Dr. Matthew for over 13+ years. Dr. Matthew was also the Pediatrician when my son was born at Los Robles. Dr. Matthew is a very tenured and wise doctor that has knowledge across MANY aspect of physical and mental health of a child. He also has tremendous experience in caring for children with Special Needs including those with Autism as my son is severally Autistic, legally blind, and has epileptic seizures. Dr. Matthew truly cares, he is a matter of fact gentlemen with professional bed side manners. He is informative, kind, willing to explain, provides options and alternatives. He is not a "go to prescription" doctor. He will not prescribe a medication just because you want one, he will do his job within the highest, most ethical, genuine and informative manner he trusts. Their Clean Office: Is always clean, it may not be the fancy office of Beverly Hills or Westlake but it is well maintained and very clean at all times. I explained that we can't decide to change clinics before ever having a visit or meeting the doctors, this is not obvious to me. She showed no interest in helping and rushed to hang up. This makes me question their priorities: are they here to help sick children, or just to sign up new patients? A 4-year-old with an ear infection was turned away because I couldn't promise loyalty to a clinic I've never even visited. It also shows what kind of person is answering the phone when you need help most, and that's exactly the moment a practice should be showing compassion, not indifference. This interaction says a lot about the values this practice operates with.
