I tried both of the hot chocolate drinks to make the trip worth while. There was the Tiki Torched Brûlée Bliss that has an brûlée donut and sugar coated fruit skewers. And there was the That Flan-tastic Purple Yam that has a tune (purple yam) flavour theme and stacked with lostof Filipino desserts like flan, pandesal, and ube cup cake. Both drinks were on the sweeter side and perfect for those who have an extra sweet tooth!

We were pleasantly surprised that they offer guests access to their full drink menu including their specials. Ube matcha was good, but had a hint of cinnamon which we could have gone without. The matcha mango was also good. The blackberry lavender matcha was too floral for our liking. However, eventually you get used to it and then it becomes more enjoyable. The pandesals were super fresh and we loved both the ube and strawberry butters that came with it. I wish that they came a bit warmer, so that the butters could have melted a touch. I thoroughly enjoyed all 3 sandwiches. I especially loved the arugula on the mozerella sandwich. The blackberry brie sandwich could have used a touch more brie, but was still delicious. The cheesecakes were good, but a bit too sweet. The strawberry was my favorite. I enjoyed tasting multiple flavors. Their red velvet cupcake was extremely moist. The pistachio malasada was cute and flavorful. The filling to pastry ratio was good. I think that the experience could have been better balanced if there were a few more savory items. One thing that we noticed was that all of the pastries including the malasada were cold. I can understand that there are some food safe requirements that need to be met in how desserts are stored. However, letting them sit out for even 20-30 minutes before consumption would have been better.

Clean interior, with quite a bit of seating, perfect for catching up/studying/working. Attentive and quick service. Some interesting latte options, like chestnut and ube, though we opted not to get a drink this time. The main attractions are cup bingsu, taiyaki, and ah boong (= soft serve + taiyaki). We got 1 custard and 1 nutella taiyaki - both were fresh and well filled. Would definitely come back when it's warmer to get an ah boong!

They currently have a buy 2 get 1 free promo, so make sure to cash in on that. I also really liked their hibiscus lemon tea and rooibos lemon tea. A step above just regular steeped tea without crossing over into the sugary drink category. My friend also said that the soft serve boonguhbbang was really good too! Would definitely come back again.

I was told by the staff that the business has been around eighteen years and is still doing great. Being inside the café is like being in a very nice cabin. I ordered the Wicked Thai Chicken soup and the Pumpkin Spiced Latte with whipped cream. The soup was fantastic and did not taste watered down whatsoever. The Thai chicken was full of piquancy and zest. The latte really stood out with how potent the pumpkin spice was and the whipped cream was a very nice addition. The drink was thoroughly enjoyable with how sweet and flavourful every sip was. I also ordered the Apple Caramel Muffin and the Haystack Brownie; both were very great baked goods to follow-up from the soup. I really like the service there; staff is very friendly. I thoroughly enjoyed eating at Kanaka and I know everyone that went there does as well. I cannot wait to come to patronize at this lovely café again.

I have driven by this little spot at 5 corners in Langley thousands of times, so we were happy to finally stop in. The building itself is very cool having originally been built in 1888 and was the general store. PY Porter bought the store in 1916, and the Porter name has been on the building since. Today it is a coffee house, restaurant and music venue. All three of us ordered the daily special, the lovely K the pancakes and breakfast sausage and Kris and I the farmer sausage, eggs and potatoes with toast. The farmer sausage was wonderful, the potatoes properly made and beautifully cooked. No Sysco truck delivering the sides for sure. My cappuccino was mostly foam, with little coffee, although the lovely K said hers was great, so a saw off. There are plenty of things to entice, with baked goods, prepared sandwiches and a wide variety of trinkets offered in the early 20th century interior. There sure won't be a century pass before they see our faces again.
