I was very excited to try this place after hearing from locals in Snowshoe that this place was highly recommended! We got seated immediately and luckily got a window seat just in time to watch the sunset through the mountains! I ordered the Surf & Turf with a side of their famous macaroni&cheese which was to die for!!! Our waitress, Stacey, was very nice and gave us excellent service! OMG terrible. I heard about this on the lift from another skier but will be sure to tell everyone I meet on the chairlift not to go here. I got stuck up in the village when they closed the trails today was starving so went into Foxfire even though I rarely eat in the village. The bartender was so rude, acted as if she didn't see me and focused on doing side work even though there were customers at the bar. After she threw a menu at me and turned away to do her sidework again, I was left trying to catch her eye when I wanted to order. Finally I just asked "can I order now?" She replied extremely sarcastically "yea I SAID you could order whenever you were ready." Cools, well since you were cleaning out the bar spouts or whatever for the past 15 minutes, maybe I didn't feel like shouting my order over the bar noise? Idk, maybe just me. Finally I tried to order the burger medium rare. "NOPE", she said" only medium well." awesome customer service. "Ok" I said, "I'll do it. What the heck.". However, miss attitude yanked the menu out of my hands and must have tuned out everything I said because about 40 starving minutes later I asked "so could you check on that burger?" "oh, you said you didn't want it" she replied Um what? No, I did NOT say that. "Oh yea, because you couldn't get it medium rare". Are you seriously going to argue with me about what I supposedly said? too bad you didn't pay attention to what I actually said and started walking away before I could finish my sentence. At no point was anyone like, "oh wow, I'm sorry about that! beer's on me!" or any of the sort of things I often said to customers in this circumstance during my 10+ years of serving experience. Even though I was still wearing my ski boots and was STARVING, I chose to pay my check and lamely hobble to shuttle, take the bus to Top of the World to pick up my car and drive all the way down to the base of the mountain to eat at Route 66 rather than eat here. That's how BAD the service was. I am a season pass to snowshoe and vow to tell every person I encounter at Snowshoe how terrible Foxfire is. I will make it my personal mission to make sure that no one I personally know ever visits this restaurant. read more

The BBQ quesadillas were great! The service was a little slow, but the restaurant was extremely busy. I would recommend this restaurant.

My experience this time around was much better. After experiencing some disappointing pizza at Cheat Mountain Pizza Co across the walk, we decided to give this a try again. This time we just stopped in for appetizers and bar service. The bar was excellent, cozy natural wood bartop, friendly attentive service, and most importantly, pretty cheap compared to the rest of the village offerings. The beer cheese and pretzel bread appetizer was fantastic. They had cold trail ale (mountain state brewing) on tap, which is a fantastic brew we tried first at the brewpub outside of Timberline/Canaan ski resort. Now having been to snowshoe a few times and trying a lot of the places there, foxfire I think has become a top choice on the list. read more

We ate there last weekend, after a long day of skiing, we decided on this little place... the food was amazing, I've had a lot of pulled pork sandwiches in my life, but this one was likely the best I've ever had, the meat was soft and smoked, wasn't dry and overwhelming like some places, the slaw was different, had alittle spice to it, but was also very good, the sweet pot fries were delicious, and the wings... the wings were out of this world, they melted in your mouth with every bite, they had people coming in and out all evening and service was still fast! The staff were all very friendly, and the far right of the restaurant when you come in looks out over the WV rolling hills. Looking forward to coming back. read more

Had dinner here for the first time last Friday evening. We had a large group so I didn't expect to get a table right away, but 2 hours? They don't take reservations. We can't review the food or drinks because the service was so bad, we never even had a chance to eat. We showed up on Fat Tuesday. There was a sign outside that said they would stop serving food at 8:45. We showed up at 8:15 and were told to try to find a place at the bar. Meanwhile, half of the restaurant had tables that were unoccupied, and when we asked why we couldn't sit there, we never got a good answer. After wandering around the crowded bar and getting the same refusals for help from each person we talked to, we decided to leave. Stay away. read more

They have a pretty good selection of beer, a nice view of the blue ridges of the surrounding mountains at Snowshoe, decent pulled pork (they have more BBQ options for dinner; we were there for lunch). I enjoyed the classic 70s/ early 80s lunchboxes on one of the walls. If you want better food, try Ember, up the road about a mile. We were there in summer, but I think it would be better in winter, where you can cozy up and watch the snow. read more

Take my 3 star review in comparison to other places on the mountain to eat. As other reviewers have written, you need to rank ski dining on a much different level then the real world. This was easily the best place we ate on our ski weekend. The wait for a party of 4 on Saturday night was 45min to an hour. So, we found a table in the bar, bussed it ourselves and hunkered in. There is no table service at the bar, so ordering consists of trying to muscle yourself in between bar patrons and waiting for about 10 minutes to get a bottle or draft or whatever you decide to order then waiting for your name to be yelled so you can pick it up. The ale cheese dip with pretzel bread was pretty awesome. I can honestly say the chipotle sandwich was so good I ordered it twice on consecutive nights, one of the best chicken sandwiches I've ever had. Mac and cheese was a decent side, our sweet potato fries were very cold. A buddy got a burger and it was charred and didn't look very good. My wife got the turkey melt and loved it. read more

Fox fire grill was a great choice for lunch while enjoying a day of snowboarding at Snowshoe Mountain! I had a steak salad that was great and my brother had something with a fried egg on it that he loved. This place has it all; a cool mountain atmosphere, great food, friendly service and ski slopes right outside :) I would recomend it. read more

Foxfire Grille at Snowshoe, WV is a good place to eat. They have a good variety on their menu and the service is good as well. It is in the middle of the Village located on the north end of Rimfire Lodge. They have a full bar and plenty of seating. There are also vegetarian options for vegetarians. They don't take reservations so it is a good idea to dine a little early or a little late if you don't want a wait. There is also outdoor dining for the warmer months. I gave Foxfire Grille 3 stars, but it is one of the best places to eat on the mountain. It probably deserves 3 1/2 stars but 4 stars would be pushing it compared to other 4 star restaurants I've rated. I do like to eat here and can recommend it. read more

Ah Foxfire. I have been to Snowshoe many of times before but we had never figured where Foxfire Grill was or when we did finally find it it was packed. I'm like anyone else - I love a good K&T but I was not ready to hang out with sooo many folks without having a few good drinks before. Anyways, since we were here later in the season we decided to drop by for an early dinner at around 5pm. There were people at the bar and we joined them. It was a fun scene! We finally decided we need to sit down and we kept the drinks coming but got some food. Never go wrong with a burger so I ended up getting the burger which is naturally an excellent way to continue the day on the slopes. The waitress was very friendly and was engaging. I I liked the atmosphere and look forward to returning for both the food and for lodging as well (as I hear good things). I would return. read more

The food is excellent; especially in comparison to the other restaurants in the village. I've tried the mac & lobster and the roast beef and both were very delicious. It's a little on the pricy side, but it is a resort after-all and at least this food is worth the extra. As an added bonus, they have a great selection of whisky and bourbons! read more

Cocktail review only****Located close to the entrance of the Village, Foxfire is a good option for drinks with friends. They do get pretty busy around dinner time so you might be standing. They also have a shot wheel, where you ask the bartender to spin the wheel and you drink whatever it lands on. A fun place we normally stop by at least once a year. read more

Been here several times in the last three years; always good service and pretty good food. Was here on wed the place was so packed so we went back to the room waited for an hour came back down around 830 for a beer at the bar still waited another 30 mins b4 we snagged two bar seats.. the blonde girl behind the bar never stopped moving she was on top of her shit! We ordered food it came out cooked to order with the right sides.. Every other time iv been to this place slow or busy there have been two bartenders and she handled the crowd better then any of those times alone. Great visit read more

Yes, I know that foxfire is in a ski resort and that you cant grade a resort restaurant on the same scale as you would one in your local neighborhood... with that being said... this place is horrible. - Been there on multiple occasions. I have never even heard rumors of a hot french fry being served. Its small, easily correctable details like this that makes me think they just dont care. (Every soda I have ever had has been way out of whack as well) - All burgers are your basic costco/kirkland patties burned 3 degrees past anything resembling flavor... I think that pretty much is the same with all of the mountain (cant blame them when you dont know when the next food delivery is making its way up) but at least at other places you arent waiting 2+ hours and paying twice as much. - Mac and Cheese... a random assortment of noodles with more oil than cheese - Granted I have much less experience there but if looking for dining in the village Sunset Cantina is (IMO) a much better choice. read more

It was an ok place if you ignore the food. The waitress was very pleasant and service was good (as it should have been since the place was uncrowded). My wife and another in our party ordered very impressively described salads and received nondescript iceburg lettuce salads. My gyro came with only 3 thin strips of lamb on very doughy bread, which was a blessing in a way since the meat was burned out and dry. There's some good restaurants in Snowshoe, though not nearly as many as in its far more impressive sister resorts of Whistler BC, and Mount Tremblant, Quebec. I would go to both of the latter locations anytime before returning to Snowshoe, and would certainly skip Foxfire if I ever go back there. read more

Great place to go for a casual dinner on the mountain. We both had local beers, which were great. The BBQ is very good, and there are a lot of different sauce options that are fun to try. The Burger with Pulled Pork and bacon was delicious as well. For dessert we really enjoyed toasting marshmallows at our table, which was a fun novelty. A little pricey for what you're getting, but for being on the mountain and walking distance from most lodging in the village it is reasonable. read more

So we did not eat or drink here, however they are extremely NICE! We were staying at mountain lodge and cooking ribs at home. We realized we forgot BBQ sauce and everyone was closed. We called 2 other restaurants to see if we could buy BBQ sauce off of them and they said no. On saturday night of easter weekend, when they were SUPER busy, the hostess went back and filled several souffle cups of BBQ sauce for us.
