She came by to do an in-depth walk through, took appropriate measurements, and showed me all their options in different price points. Her and her husband are locals and started this company together. I love supporting local businesses. Speaking of locals, I also needed grout work which is outside the scope of their work, but Ashley was able to refer me to my new grout guy (shout out Mystic Dave!). Estimate is done through a software they're developing with another tech company, which is pretty new but unique? Payment was straight forward through a link (cheaper if you pay in cash / ACH). You pay 30% deposit and the rest afterwards. They are a bit pricer but reasonable for the quality of work done. They send out a team of 2 for my project. There were a couple disconnects in terms of the details communicated to the field team, like the amount of padding needed and the edges of my stairs that needed to be folded and stapled but it wasn't anything this team couldn't figure out. I am an opinionated client that expects quality, precision, and communication. All of which are points that Floor Coverings delivered. Thank you and I look forward to our next project together.

I was so impressed by the knowledge they had about the Saltillo tile I needed to replace on my patio. I had a difficult patching project and they took the time to provide me with all the details of what they could do and what to expect beforehand. They also took the time to customize the color when they sealed the new tiles to match as closely as possible to the old ones. They took such care from start to finish and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. Due to their skill, knowledge, and artistic perspective, the work looks amazing. Our general…read morecontractor, who has done an amazing job with all other aspects of our kitchen remodel, called us into the kitchen just in time to see a bunch of our expensive tile sliding down the wall and their poor tile subcontractor almost in tears. Apparently we had invested in some of the most complex mosaic glass tile to work with and needed to find an experienced tile pro if this was going to happen to plan. Of the three tile pros I called, Josh was the only one to contact me back right away, and showed up a couple days later to assess the scene and provided a bid the same day. Once work began, Josh and his assistant Chono spent the better part of the first day meticulously measuring out and planning the install, and two more days to set and grout the tile. When we were undecided about a grout color, Chono even made a nice mockup panel for us to look at before he came back the last day to grout the tile. Now that the tile has dried, it looks absolutely beautiful. I love that they took the time to make sure that the pattern aligned perfectly with the window, and their attention to detail is completely evident in the small crevasses and receptacles they tiled around, rebuilding our pattern with tiny cut pieces. Apart from the install, Josh was easy to communicate with over email and texts, always on time, left the work area neat and tidy, and came in right at the estimated price, no surprises. I give him and his crew the highest of recommendations and will be using them again when I start our bathroom project.

Like the other reviews here, I wholeheartedly recommend Josh and his father for your project. We bought our dream tile, Artobrick, at the local Long Beach Tile Zone and George recommended Alvarez Tile. I also recommend Tile Zone! Josh gave me a complete quote covering all aspects of the work from the start. Nothing changed, all work was performed exactly as stated at the outset without any surprises or upcharges. Josh troubleshoots the project from the get-go and is thorough. I did say the work was enjoyable which sounds strange, I know, but if you've had a disaster in your home from a contractor before then I can assure you the prep work they do is a dream. There was no tracking debris in and out. The workspace was isolated and our home was disturbed as little as possible. Artobrick tile is installed one tile at a time. If you are getting this kind of tile, stop looking for other bids- Alvarez is the contractor you need. The prep with a cement float and the one-by-one tile installation was incredible to watch take shape and the included tile floor trim we added and tricky corners - all superb. After a few small earthquakes, I can say nothing has cracked, not even a grout seam. And if the amazing floor wasn't enough - Josh made our lives so much easier by installing our vanity and mirrors all with total precision. Then added our tile backsplash with expert corner!. Thanks for the excellent work Alvarez family, we can't wait to do another project in the future!

Throughout the process, Max was responsive and transparent, and was regularly onsite to supervise his subs. He was happy to provide input but also happy to let me make my own choices and decisions. Our electric cooktop and hood broke many months ago, and we thought that replacing it with a gas…read morecooktop and new hood would be straightforward. It turns out that was not true. One plumber could install a gas line only, another plumber could install a gas line and the gas cooktop but not the hood, and an appliance installation technician could not install the cooktop because he could not cut into the existing granite top. So I found Max of MRI Construction and Remodeling on Yelp, and he said that he could do the work within that original scope -- cooktop, hood, and gas line -- but that we should anticipate a backup plan in case the granite cracked during installation. Because we plan to live in this house for as long as possible, we decided to go through a full kitchen renovation. We had a prior experience with another general contractor who was impossible to get a hold of and who could not ensure the quality of the subcontractors he hired, and interviewed another general contractor who gave us the impression that we would have to engage with suppliers and subcontractors more than seemed feasible. We are happy to say that we just finished our kitchen renovation last week! And it was finished a week earlier than scheduled. We are thankful to Max and his team of subcontractors! We are really happy with the final kitchen, given how much we cook at home. And surprisingly the process was easy despite its size and time of 6 weeks. Max has the strengths and qualities you want for your construction projects: he's incredibly responsive, honest and communicative, and willing and able to troubleshoot issues that come up, as they invariably do, both small and large. He makes recommendations if you ask and gives you options for decisions for which there are too many options. He works with an amazing group of subcontractors who are experts in their craft. There was an exception with one subcontractor but Max was able to get that course-corrected so that the project finished strong. We appreciate his integrity and his willingness to ensure that the project meets your needs and expectations. We are grateful that we found Max on Yelp and for being able to work with him on a kitchen that we love and also within budget!! Thank you, Max and MRI Construction!!

I received a text message on the day of that was ambiguous about the time, so I called and verified that our appointment was at 1pm because we had another appointment to get to at 2:30. The person I spoke with confirmed that our estimator, Jose, would indeed be there between 1:00 and 1:15 pm as he would be coming straight from lunch and not another appointment. At 1:45 p.m., Jose was a no-call, no-show. Very disappointing. We will not be rescheduling. I would not recommend working with a firm that does not respect a customer's time.

We hired Jereme and his team at builder boy to be the GC on our extensive remodel pictured below…read more We had him do most everything on job which included gutting the structure down to the studs, reconfiguring the floor plan, adding structural reinforcements to create an open floor plan, re-wiring and plumbing the 5 unit complex, insulating it, installing shear paneling, stucco from scratch, and all the finish work. His professionalism, communication, and timeliness was refreshing in this day and age. Considering the high demand for general contractors today and the price gouging going on due to the low supply we were ecstatic to be able to find a GC who was able to provide high-quality customer service and an exceptional finished product. Our family would like to thank Jereme and the builder boy family for all their hard work and dedication to the job. I know we kept changing plans, finishes, and pretty much everything on you guys constantly but you kept your cool and never complained. The ONLY downside was that I had to wait almost a month for his schedule to allow him to start my job. He and his 3 man crew showed up early the first day and got about 80% of the repairs (and there were A LOT), and the bulk of the sanding. He under promised and over delivered to a great degree. This company really seems to value doing quality work. The price was almost too good to be true. I was still finishing up two bathroom remodels on my own house and mentioned the rate I was given and those contractors said it was a VERY good rate. Over the last year I have had to hire several contractors for my own home and my experience had been overwhelmingly bad with contractors not showing up, doing half-assed work, taking time off to do other projects while I'm living in construction chaos. Cruz Hardwood Flooring restored my faith in contractors. I have refinished floors on my own before and it was a messy job. This company has amazing equipment that captures the dust created by sanding/buffing so there was ZERO mess.
