Stayed in Lock #10 for two nights in mid-October. Wonderful stay. Bottom line, I definitely…read morerecommend the Georgetown House and would (Will) stay again. Comparing the value, quality, and location across other Georgetown properties - this place is a hand's down winner! Few points: 1. Comfortable bed, clean room. Locks 10 and 11 seem like they would be the best choice, other locks have common doors just outside your door, so you hear everyone coming / going and getting coffee, etc. 2. Nice little two-person outdoor patio set outside lock #10, very nice for sharing a night cap. 3. Others have commented about the absence of staff, I do agree this is off putting but everything seemed to work with a little 'figuring out'. 4. For example, checking in at the ATM like machine, which takes a $100 deposit - and provides a numerical key code to your room. It was unclear to me that code ALSO opens the front door just to the right of the ATM, and whether that door was the common entrance. 4a. Another reviewer also mentioned their deposit took longer than they expected to be refunded, I was surprised to see the deposit move to a charge vice dropping from 'pending charges', took the full 5 days to credit after I called - expect a delay, the refund is not instant. 5. On the coffee machine, it defaults to a 6oz pour. Override that and select 10oz - that fills the cup entirely and doesn't waste the Keurig grounds in the capsule. 6. Location could not be better, don't miss dinner at Clyde's or a dessert to go from Filomena's (Turtle and Strawberry cheesecakes are spectacular, all made in house). 7. Common area kitchen has a full size refrigerator with 11 labeled bins, each for a lock - nice to be able to chill a bottle of wine or other items as needed. Would stay again, thank you Georgetown House!

5 Star Greatness!!…read more Hubby booked accommodations here for our 20 year Anni. Cutesy street view, self check in (all digital), clean premises and entryway, unique quarters. We were assigned to Room #5. 112sq ft of intimate space, cleanliness and entertainment. Nicely new/ updated rooms, pretty décor, toiletries provided, in room remote thermostat, clothing storage, natural light and room lights, cable tv, etc. I loved everything about this room. It is smack in the middle of Georgetown. You can literally walk everywhere your heart desires. Located in a clean and safe neighborhood, late night food and entertainment gems, etc. There are moderately priced garages everywhere. Street metered parking if you're lucky, and a few free parking spaces 1 street over. Hubby and I are already making plans to return! This place is a must stay... Trust me !!

When the Woodley Park Guest House livingsocial deal came up, we did a bit of research on the place and then decided that it sounded like a greta place to stay. This B&B is ranked #2 in DC on tripadvisor's website (#1 is owned by the same company) and I can totally see why they have such excellent ratings. The B&B is exactly what I was looking for. Right on a metro line (red about a block away, unless you take the elevator which is even closer) and had a number of things to do within walking distance. We arrived around 3pm on a Thursday and checked in and was given a quick tour of the place. Our room was the bay window room on the second floor. It was quite nice. After we checked in we went for a stroll around the zoo (three blocks up the road on the right). Then headed down towards Dupont Circle and got some great coffee (Filter) and some gelato! Then took the metro back. Everything was extremely clean and the staff was super helpful. We spent every night out on the porch drinking some wine (part of the livingsocial deal) and people watching. This is in a very safe part of town and all around nice. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in the area! My only complaint is that the boy and I like to sleep in and the walls are pretty thin so we could hear other guests knocking on the doors and talking, but that was a very minor issue.

This B&B is located right in the heart of Harper's Ferry, giving walking access to stores, restaurants, and historic sights. Trains do come at all times of the night, so ear plugs are recommended (which would be needed anywhere in town!). Very much worth it!

Come for the railfanning, stay for the history…read more I first learned about Harpers Ferry, WV while sourcing stock footage for work. I came across the same clip in a rail safety ad, which made me look up directions to Harpers Ferry from DC. The historic park/town is served by the very MARC trains that pass outside my DC window each afternoon. You can describe Harpers Ferry as *deceptively* close because it's a 90 minute train ride, with planes flying into Dulles close enough to make out the airline. Looking for hotels there, Stonehouse Bed & Breakfast was the first that came up, with great reviews. Chris was very helpful and responsive via text and email. I booked the Top Room, which was $170 for a night including taxes. The quaint B&B has three accessible floors, as the family naturally lives onsite. The first floor is the main entrance with the common/dining areas, and the patio overlooking Maryland Heights and the Potomac/Shenandoah Rivers. The second floor has more rooms, one with a full balcony. And the third floor is the Top Room, with windows overlooking each side of the vintage building. If you Google pictures of Harpers Ferry, Stonehouse is in nearly all of the shots, since the balconies are front and center of the skyline. The town itself is like a real life snow globe. But the B&B, the litany of museums, eateries and shoppes around it, as well as the train station directly across the street make it an overall ideal place to stay, be it for hiking, or for something else: A love of trains is what brought me to Stonehouse, so take note that rail traffic can be heavy in certain times of the day. But the light rumbles also helped put me to sleep in the already soft, cozy bed. A container of water was provided, and while glasses should have been cleaned of dust first, it was still a really nice touch. The room also had playing cards, ear plugs, plenty books and a whole lounge chair. Checkin was a simple set of instructions at the door with my name on it, with checkout simply being your absence at the appropriate time. In my case, I only booked an overnight stay, getting in at 8pm and leaving around 6:30am, with checkout/checkin being the traditional 11am/4pm. While I didn't stay for complementary breakfast, I did catch a stellar sunrise between the mountains, as well as nature footage from the neighboring park. All of that to say, I definitely look to return to Stonehouse B&B later this year.

The basement apartment is self sufficient, so we did not have the "bed and breakfast" experience of sharing, but that's OK for us.. Our host, Dana, was very friendly and, since our sight-seeing plans were kind of up-in-the-air, gave us lots of good advice on places to go and things to see. The room was really cute and clean. The bed was amazingly comfortable -- one of those adjustable tempurpedic mattresses. I'm not sure if every room has one or if it was just our room, but it sure made it hard to want to get out of bed. There is free wi-fi and continental breakfast downstairs in the morning. This place is a great alternative to the pricey hotels around DC -- it has a private, relaxing feel and yet is close enough to the Metro that it is also pretty convenient. We would definitely stay here again.
