    Biscuits and chocolate gravy.
    Mele F.

Nothin' like small town hospitality! But add some home-cooked breakfast food with biscuits and CHOCOLATE GRAVY !!! and this little family-owned restaurant earns all five stars. Two of the ladies working there spent time finding out why we were in their neck of the woods and even shared some special advice and tips for hiking and camping (the reason we were there in their neck of the woods). They greeted the regulars by name and each dish that came from the kitchen looked like I was back home with my mom serving me my meals. Coffee even had a flavor that reminded me of her. Excellent service on refills, special requests, timing, removing plates...i wouldn't have wanted for anything else. Just wish I could've taken that whole place and the people inside home with me. Don't miss this sweet spot. And if you've never tried biscuits with chocolate gravy- be sure to give it a try.

Today we came for Sunday lunch and enjoyed quiche. Lorraine and the kids had spaghetti with meat sauce. We had a black forest cake for dessert and also ice cream sundaes for the kids. We drank Whitaker's sparkling grape juice for our meal. It was a great hit. The kids really enjoyed it and they said they wanted to come back soon! It's probably been five or six years since we have been here and the kids really didn't remember it. We did learn that they're not giving tours of the wine cellar since Covid at least not without some kind of special arrangement. The service was excellent and I would add the same lady that waited on me today was waiting on me many years ago when I first visited here when I was 11 years old. That's been more then 40 years ago.

If you enjoy sweet wines like us, we loved the strawberry alpine and the chocolate wine as well as the red muscadine. They had many other wines to choose from as well. Our son does not enjoy wine, but they offered non-alcoholic beverages for him to sample as well. We appreciated this kindness. In addition to the wines we purchased some artisan soaps and body lotion made from wine sediments with amazing scents. We also purchased some homemade apple butter. As it happened today we were not hungry at the time so we did not visit the restaurant but look forward to going there on a future trip. The clerk was extremely helpful and friendly. She took the trouble to make sure we enjoyed the experience and got out of it what we were looking for. This was all the more appreciated since this was our daughter's first wine tasting.

The bar, previously the bank, had been standing so long it might as well have been written into the town charter. You could see it in that picture on the wall--half a century in one frame, another half tacked on, like a time-lapse of laughter and spilled beer. Now, the food--Lord help me--wasn't what you'd call gourmet. It was what every club in America serves when the fryer's hot and the cook's in a hurry. They sprinkled something called Old Bank Seasoning on just about everything. Imagine Old Bay with more salt and less charm. Then they ladled out their "special" cheese sauce, which was nothing more than queso with another fistful of Old Bank tossed in. You'd think after all these years they might've tinkered with it some. But the waitresses smiled, hustled, and earned their tips the hard way. Management kept the lights on and the taps flowing, which is what management's supposed to do. And maybe that's the whole story here: you come expecting fireworks, you get a sparkler. But in a town where the bar itself is the landmark, maybe the food's not the point. Maybe it's the people raising their glasses, telling their stories, and making sure somebody takes the next picture for the wall. Yes, I would go back.

Was dining here on my own as my wife was in a training course a few miles away. I walked in and…read morewas greeted by the hostess right away. I was barely seated and the server was there to take my drink order. Things were looking really good at this point. My drink arrived quickly. It was a bottled beer and it was well chilled. The server took my order which included a side salad. The server told me to help myself to the salad at the salad bar. Everything looked fresh on the salad bar except for the lceburg lettuce, which had a lot of pinking around the edges. Thankfully there was also a much fresher looking spring greens lettuce mix available as well. So after getting my salad I returned to my table. Sat down and ate my salad, drank my beer, drank most of my water and waited. My server was nowhere to be seen. There was no servers to be seen. There was a large group table in front of me who were already seated when I got there and they didn't have their food and a table behind me, a man with two kids who came in a minute or two after me, who didn't have their food either. After about 25 minutes after finishing my salad my food arrived, via a different server than the one who took my order. I have to say the food was well cooked and portion sizes were good. The food for the man and two kids came out just after mine but the food for the big group didn't arrive until I was paying my bill. Not sure if they asked for the food to be delayed or if the kitchen was having issues getting everything cooked but it certainly seems like the kitchen is not in a hurry to get orders done and out. No one ever asked if I needed a refill on my drinks or ask if I needed anything. I would have given a lower score but the food was good and the view is fantastic.

Came back to fill waters after asking her to and left mine half empty and said she would come back sometime to fill it up. Never did. Forgot to put food order in, so we sat there in total for an hour and a half. Worst part it is that we had a table with a view, the only good part about this place, and a couple came in next to us and asked for the blinds to be down because the sun was bothering them. They sat with their backs to the windows and the staff lowered ONLY our blinds. No one else's! We complained and eventually even asked for a manager. Tammy, the manager, was completely useless and told US that we could move tables if wanted the view again. Huh?! They refused to put our blinds back up because it disturbed the other couple. Just unbelievable. People that came in over a half hour after us were done eating before we even got our food. Once we got the food, it was horrible. I had the portobello burger and the portobello was overdone, while the other veggies were still raw. Tammy was the rudest and most incompetent manager I have ever encountered. Stay away from this horrible place.

Well, no good way to begin this so I guess I'll just dive in. Stopped in the other day coming back…read morefrom Fort Smith because my wife's son won an award there for his Korn tribute band. So in the interest of fairness, maybe my mood was already a little soured. But the events that transpired in this restaurant certainly didn't help, and likely took years off my life. The trouble began before we even got in the restaurant. A gentleman had parked his truck, revving ostentatiously, in between my car and the front door. He kept giving me and my wife weird, hostile looks. When we walked by, she (my wife is a kind soul) presumably gave him a look of concern, and this guy cracks his window-- doesn't roll it down all the way, like he's scared of the cold or something-- and starts going "What? What?" like he's Taxi Driver. Remember that movie? He was totally freaking out. He was shaking in there. Maybe he really was cold...At any point I took him for a harmless(?) druggie, and we kept walking. We get into the restaurant, and get a seat by the window. We get a nice server at least, girl named Autumn (I know because I made her write it down for us) and order some food. Things are finally taking a turn for the better, or that's what we hope. No points for guessing who comes walking in. The parking lot crazy. Imagine my delight when he starts walking into the kitchen. Maybe a minute passes. I hear yelling from the kitchen, and this lunatic and some other guy are screaming at each other. Judging from the name his interlocutor kept using, crazy guy's name is Lando or Larry or something like that. Lando/Larry is screaming about how he doesn't want to make the food! It was like something out of Kitchen Nightmares. Server Autumn at least was pretty apologetic to me and my wife, and attempted to distract us from the sounds of World War 3 coming back from the kitchen. I suppose it was a little heartwarming to see that someone there was actually capable of doing their damn job. Oh, this bears mentioning. We ordered burgers. Simple right? I wish! Oh my God how I wish it had been as simple it should have been! The burgers come out burned to hell and back and hard enough to stop a bullet. They looked like hockey pucks! Tasted like them too. At least our waitress was fast with the refills so we could drink enough sweet tea to keep us alive for the truck stop sandwiches that would have to be our dinner tonight since our South Park experience was a complete and utter failure. My advice to weary travelers? If you stop at South Park, run in, tip the waiters, then get out without ordering a bite. It's better that way, trust me. And maybe convince the people of Arkansas to invest in some rehab services-- nobody's stomach rumbles when you've got to contend with some tweaked out crazy person looking like he might shiv you in the parking lot. Then burning your food like it's the evidence that leads back to his meth lab. Gerald C, signing off.
