It's become my new Saturday tradition! Absolutely love this place! Expect a 45 min wait if you arrive at 12. We will usually come around 1 pm to avoid the long lines. Recommend: brisket, turkey, baked beans, elote street corn, Texas Twinkie and Jalapeño cheddar sausage. Best barbecue I've had in the Shoals! read more

We got there at about 11:50 (only open on Saturday currently), and it took us about 30 minutes to get through the line and get our food--and it was well worth it! We had the brisket, which was great; the turkey, which was honestly my favorite; and the pulled pork, which was excellent. For sides, we had the mac & cheese, elote street corn, and beans, along with two different kinds of barbecue sauce and some cold drinks. Everything was fabulous. In my opinion, this is the best barbecue in both Florence and Huntsville, and barbecue is my favorite type of food. These folks are from Texas and bring the Austin barbecue scene here, and it is 100% worth your time and effort to check it out. I'll definitely be back, and I predict this restaurant will do extremely well going forward. The live music was the perfect touch. read more

Fourth Planet BBQ - Barbecue sampler plate, but they were already sold out of ribs and brisket, but good Lord it was OK. Well done. - Barbeque Near Me - Florence, Alabama

Wound down the July 4th holiday weekend with a quick trip to Florence, AL to get the closest thing to real TX BBQ I have had in the state of AL. Truth be told, we were a bit skeptical because it's really hard to recreate TX style BBQ, but we walked away believing the hype! Got in line an hour early and was the 20th person in line. Ah, just like Texans do on the weekend. Not much shade on a hot summer day, but the crew had FREE cold beer (need Lonestar or Shiner for the true TX experience) and water to quench everyone's thirst, good music, and umbrellas to cover until you got to the shaded area during the wait. The single line moved fast. All the staples of any BBQ joint were present. We settled on brisket, pulled pork, jalapeno & cheddar link, TX twinkie (jalapeno with cream cheese & brisket wrapped in bacon), elote, mac and cheese, and TX style baked beans. Everything was on point and at a price point ($55 after tip for both of our meals) I can see why they have sold out every time they have opened. The only con I can honestly say is they have very limited seating. A single inside community table that seats 6-8 people in what looked to be a boutique shop in downtown Florence and then everything else is outside. 25 July 2025 was like a furnace! No matter how many fans you have blowing the AL heat and humidity were a lot to bear while enjoying this meal! No fault to @fourthplanetbbq , but as they grow and word of mouth spreads, they will need to find a way to keep those who eat onsite cool. #fourthplanetbbq #riskitfordabrisket #txstylebbq read more

I don't know what could be said that hasn't already been mentioned in the other reviews except Lord Have Mercy this BBQ is legit. Drove 6 1/2 hours to check out Florence and this was on my bucket list. Forgot to order the Texas Twinkie so my husband ran back to get some. That took it beyond 5 stars for us. Had the melt-in-your-mouth brisket. Can't wait to return!!! read more

Great spot for BBQ! The food was packed with flavor and cooked perfectly. And the banana pudding...easily the highlight of the meal. Will definitely be back! Great service and great ambiance! read more

Fourth Planet BBQ - Barbeque Near Me - Florence, Alabama

Former Texas resident and really wanted to some TX style barbecue here in Alabama. The brisket was easily up there with the BEST I've had in Texas and their sides are killer -- especially the Texas Twinkie and Brisket Elote cup. We're witnessing the beginning of great things at Fourth Planet here in Florence! Family-owned by the friendliest people so service is top notch as well. read more

The locations is a bit odd (inside of an antique-second hand store), but the food is very much Texas style BBQ. They have irregular hours so it's best to check before making the trip. The owners are on premises, so the quality is consistent and the portion size is good. The dining area is al fresco (picnic tables in front of the building), so watch for rainy/stormy weather. read more

I was in town for a wedding planning session with clients. We were considering Fourth Planet for catering the welcome party. It took all of five seconds for our decision to easily be made. I have always said that BBQ is average at best no matter where you go. This is different. We had Brisket, smoked turkey, and every side available. The BBQ served up at Fourth Planet is like watching your show in the 80's. You may have to wait a week, but the anticipation and enjoyment is worth every minute. I can't recommend enough. The free beer (first come first serve), the live entertainment, the joyful mood outside in line....it's like a BBQ lovers convention in all the good ways. 10's across the board! read more
