While the outside area is hookah oriented, the indoor seating is vibrant and comfortable for a full and proper meal. We stopped in around 8 pm and proceeded to order a mix of items. To begin, we had the three dips (baba, hummus, roasted red pepper hummus) which was the perfect starter given how hungry we both were. Additionally, the V mango mojitos were the right balance and quenches our long walk induced thirst. The fried kibbeh were next, piping hot and delicious. For the entree portion, we shared the large and plentiful lamb shank tagine (broth was solid and the lamb shank was melt in your mouth good) and the chicken shish kebab (the sauce and marination was exceptional). Both were presented very nicely. The chicken was exceptional and the tagine was very flavorful. We ended the night wuite appropriately with some nice, piping hot tea. Overall, the meal was a very memorable part of my Sydney trip - definitely recommend the food, ambiance, and the smooth dinner experience.

We sat "outside" but it was nicely sheltered from the elements. Easily opened up for some air as more people came. It stands up to Al Aseel and if we're lazy to drive to the other side of Sydney (or the weather is like it is today, rainy and wet!) then this does our craving for dips, meats and falafels! I think we'd consider this place for a function next time as food comes out quick and fast and can accommodate a good amount of people. Food is well presented and staff as well as the owner appears quite attentive. Scary thing is it's next to a pastry shop, which is so tempting post lunch to pick up an afternoon treat! That said, while paying I overheard the kitchen saying they were getting slammed, and so it could be that either someone didn't show for work, or some other reason kept this rustic cafe from being at it's best, but either way, I am unlikely to go back. One the positive side, the atmosphere in this cafe is great. While some of the chairs appear a bit rickety, they add to the rustic feel inside. The range of food also looked quite nice (though we stuck to the coffees). So.. as for the coffee, from my seat I was able to watch them being made and my expectations dropped with each minute. For me, seeing a dbl mac sitting on the bench burning as 2 babychinos are made is just sad. When it arrived it was bitter and burnt... surprised I was not. My wife also ordered a Turkish coffee which seemed very little like the thick syrupy deliciousness I have had on previous occasions. After a few searches I decide upon Balmain, a suburb of Sydney, directly across the harbor. Balmain like most areas around the harbor have an interesting history - look it up. Back to the meal - the tenderest chicken kabob ever! So good, I decided to take the last portion back to my hotel. The appetizer- Arnabeet was fantastic. If you like this cuisine - make the short trip by land or water taxi. The only reason it's not 5 star - they served me Sprite instead of lemonade- forget that - 5 stars - I should have asked for another drink.
