Good beef tips and haddock meals. Friendly people all around. Good WiFi as the town has poor signal.

Good food. Good people. Open more than most anyplace else in the area. We stop here every trip up no matter what time of year.

Nice place, good food and friendly people. But do check that the place is open before visiting as opening hours seem to be somewhat erratic.

D'Ellies - Kid's meal grilled cheese

D'Ellies

We stayed @ Sugarloaf for one night while the boys played some golf, and found this cute place for…read morea quick lunch. Not many options @ the mountain this time of year, but no problem because D'Ellies was exactly what we were looking for! So much deliciousness on the menu- something for everyone. The sandwiches are all homemade right there in front of you with the freshest ingredients and the bread, freshly made. We were both eyeing huge sandwiches but were worried they would be too big- but the lovely lady behind the counter said we could always order a half sandwich so we're like heck yes! My veggie half sandwich was possibly the best I've ever had- filled with homemade hummus, lettuce, tomato, bean sprouts on thickly sliced homemade white bread- the best! And the ladies that worked there were both super fast & friendly! Hubby & I went back the next morning before we hit the road. He got a breakfast sandwich and I got a freshly made toasted croissant with homemade jam and again- delicious and fresh with fast and friendly service!! Great job guys! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

D'Ellie's is a breakfast and lunch cafe at the base of Sugarbush, right up the stairs from the…read moreskier drop off point / parking lot, halfway between the Super Quad lift and the base lodge. Awesome: - They have well priced children's meals, which made our 10-year-old really happy. She enjoyed the grilled cheese option, made on her choice of bread (white). She said it lacked the frico of her favorite preps, but on the upside, it was not overly cheesy by her tastes. The meal comes with a small bag of chips, a brownie (evidently house made and awesome per the kiddo), a Capri Sun, and a bubble wand. The bubble wand was enjoyed for days and days after. - D'Ellie's Cobb salad was the best version of this salad (and probably best salad overall) that we tried in the Sugarloaf area, and the most fairly priced to boot. (Cf. the wimpy, low brow, overpriced version we had at the Bag.) It was generously sized and made with fresh, excellent ingredients. Good: - Focaccia based sandwiches were made with fresh focaccia, possibly baked in-house. They weren't as well filled as what our contingent is accustomed to at home, but I actually don't think the ratio of bread to filling would be too far from the norm in Italy. Overall, our contingent enjoyed -- in huge part b/c of the high quality bread. - The cafe packages food in waxed paper and waxed cardboard (not recyclable, but potentially compostable, I think). And they provide reusable mugs for drinking coffee in house. I really like that they're trying to be lower waste. So-so: - The "Italian" subs were not to the tastes of those who ordered them. I think regional differences might've been a contributing factor. (See, e.g. https://www.sandwichtribunal.com/2017/01/the-maine-style-italian-sandwich/#:~:text=Boiled%20ham%2C%20white%20American%20cheese,well%2Dknown%20sub%20chain%20recently, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maine_Italian_sandwich) My sub-eating contingent is used to the meat-heavy NJ / NYC deli style of sub, without the moisture of salad oil, made with a more substantial (less airy, less tender, and more glutinous), toasted Italian bread. D'Ellie's version used a very soft, non-toasted hot dog bun-like bread, not homemade as far as we could tell; pickles; sweet peppers; olives; salad oil; and your protein of choice, in our case roast beef and salami. Primary consumers said they found the meat proportions skimpy. - It can take a while to get your order even when the cafe doesn't seem too busy. I could see people working their tails off in the kitchen, so this is less of a complaint than a know-before-you-go. - There are a few tables and seats in-house, mostly pub-height tables with stools. It's pleasantly low key and casual. If space gets tight, take it to the dining spaces in the base lodge. We are spoiled ingrates when it comes to food. As such, we were not all that excited by dining options in the area. But for on-mountain fare that's more fairly priced and of even or higher quality than other options we found in the vicinity, D'Ellie's is a good bet.

Brew the Coop Newish…read more(ca. 2019) Brewpub located in the heart of Downtown Rangeley that's located in a historic (ca. 1912) tavern. Not only do they sport their own brews, but they have a killer brick pizza oven to boot. The Good: *Huge outdoor space but oddly they don't have any coverings, like umbrellas, to keep you out of the sun. *Great views of the lake and people watching. *Service was friendly and pleasant (see below) *Nice selection of their own brews and other micro and macro brews on-tap, as well as fermented grapes, as well as a full bar. *Tater Kegs were delicious and a very unique item; if cheese and ham stuffed tater tots doesn't get you torqued up, then it's time to turn in your foodie card. *Bison burger was excellent and cooked perfectly medium. The concomitant brioche bun and bacon jam really sealed the deal, as well. The fries were pretty bomb, too. The Meh: *"No Pet Policy" is kinda wild, but kinda ubiquitous here in Rangeley. Which, to tell the truth, is sorta strange because it's usually rich people who like to schlep their dogs around and what do rich people like to do? Ski, boat, and fish--three things synonymous with Rangeley. Interesting, eh? *Interior isn't as big as it looks from the outside, but is still fairly ample. *They seemed overwhelmed on our visit and very short-staffed, as the food took a looooong time to come out. Fortunately, we were in vacation mode--and I had a beer in-hand--so it was all good on our end, but if you're looking for a quick meal, this might not be it. The Ugly: *The fact that they actually have to have a "Bee Policy" (see pic) is crazy. If I have to explain it to you, then you're part of the problem. *Their "website" (aka The Facebooks) is kinda funny place to be posting people with their dead deer carcasses. 0_o Conclusion: A couple of iffy deals here, but the food was fantastic--and that's what matters.

We shared appetizers (tots, truffle fries, pickle chips) and then some pizzas. Pizzas were creative and larger than expected! We had plenty of leftovers for midnight snacks. My favorite was the blueberry pork pizza. It was an unexpected pizza combo, but it works!!! Drink selection is vast! I had a canned blueberry sour and I was super pleased. I will say we asked for water when we ordered drinks, and again when we order meals and we never got them. I understand we were a bigger group, but it would have been a perfect experience if we could have gotten water with our meal. I liked this place! I'll come back the next time I'm in Rangeley and try more pizzas.

Location is great and it's always busy plus a strong hangout for locals or summer folks like us. Service was quick as was the food coming out, but here is the rub. We ordered a single pretzel, 4 beers @ $10 each and a large order of chicken tenders @ $18. They go by weight for the tenders which ended up being 4 in total. We asked if they could do half the order in one sauce & the balance in another which they did. What they failed to mention was a charge of $4 to do so. The total bill for what we ordered was $74 before tax and tip. Food was fine, average pub grub; nothing that would knock your socks off. Would you go back? To come back on a warm day and sit on their deck and have a single beer sure. Beyond that I'm not sure I can bring myself to do it.
