A good sized sandwich with horseradish mayo. Grilled. Delicious. Onion rings were very tasty. My husband had the tuna melt and fries. Fries were a bit soggy but looked hand cut. He said tuna melt was very good, also good sized. If you were ever looking to buy a coyote pelt, this is your stop! Mink, coyote ready for purchase. Many restaurants are closed at this time but luckily The Hawks Nest Lodge was open the day we were passing through. We were the only patrons at lunch. Welcomed by several friendly staff and we decided to sit at the bar for lunch. A beautiful pine bar with rustic pine bar seats. The ambiance was very good and very welcoming. Really personable bartender talked with us about the area. Loved the menu of some classics and a lamb burger! Had to get the lamb and glad I did. Delicious. Made with lamb and feta cheese it was served in a burger bun. We upgraded to the French fries, glad we did as they were hot and had a perfect crisp. Really easy parking and good, clean restrooms. A wonderful stop!

Not only do they sport their own brews, but they have a killer brick pizza oven to boot. The Good: *Huge outdoor space but oddly they don't have any coverings, like umbrellas, to keep you out of the sun. *Great views of the lake and people watching. *Service was friendly and pleasant (see below) *Nice selection of their own brews and other micro and macro brews on-tap, as well as fermented grapes, as well as a full bar. *Tater Kegs were delicious and a very unique item; if cheese and ham stuffed tater tots doesn't get you torqued up, then it's time to turn in your foodie card. *Bison burger was excellent and cooked perfectly medium. The concomitant brioche bun and bacon jam really sealed the deal, as well. The fries were pretty bomb, too. The Meh: *"No Pet Policy" is kinda wild, but kinda ubiquitous here in Rangeley. Ski, boat, and fish--three things synonymous with Rangeley. Service is good, quick, and friendly, although you may have to flag down your server from behind the bar. My rule for 'bars that serve food' is to stick to bar food; on one night I violated that rule and ordered a Turkey Dinner. (Shaved deli turkey, cranberry jelly from a can, stuffing from a bag, etc.) Pretty bad, and another example of why I should stick to the rules. The other two nights I had a veggie pizza. This was actually very well done, with a good crust and nice selection of veggies that avoided the 'compost' state of some veggie pizzas. Burgers at the next table also looked good and prices are very reasonable. The beer is fine, with several local beers on tap. Fine place if you remember that it is a bar that serves food.

The staff work hard here. Not only are they serving you, but some of them are also your raft guides, so be nice! Otherwise if they really want, they could dump you into the river. Hehehe!
