Unfortunately this Historic site is in need of better management. This is a very important partner in the snowmobiling and lodging scene In Northwestern Maine and it would benefit from more professional management. Trails are kept up well. Bar seems to be running well. Gas pump management off. Food and customer service off. Snowmobilers need you try to do better. Thanks! read more

Service and food quality = down the drain. This was my third time eating at Pittston Farm in the last 7 years. The food here is frozen (pre-order) and many of the dishes are microwaved. Ask me how I know - I saw dishes being prepared this way as I got myself some salad at the salad bar. To make matters worse, our waiter was super-sloppy (dirty hands, sloppy outfit) and went to the kitchen three times to ask the cook questions we had about the food. Embarrassing. My roast beef dinner was super, super dry. All seafood is frozen and then fried. Nothing here is fresh with the exception of the salad. It's a lovely place to have a meal, but as I have been finding out, it's not worth the trip when the food is so bad. It's a shame, really, because if this place had awesome food, it would attract at least double the amount of visitors. read more

After driving for a good hour and expecting to be lost forever we were presented with an amazing view and very good food as well. The mountains, trees and numerous hummingbird feeders made for a very relaxing and soothing experience. In fact Pittston farm also offers lodging and is a well known location for Snowmobilers in the Winter. The food was more of your country, buffet style but nicely prepared. We were also offered an amazing array of desserts. I recommend the whoopie pie which was very large and scrumptious. One note, when you sign into the gate, make sure you tell them you could be returning after dark because the Forest Rangers will dispatch a search team if you have not returned at sun down. read more

This place isn't for the yuppie flat landers. It's literally a rustic and hearty place for those that love the wilderness and all it has to offer. Their food is big and delicious and though I'm sure sometimes throughout the winter they may not have fresh food on hand, when we were there in July everything was prepared well and mostly fresh. They feed you like you are a logger or hunter, and they treat you like you are family. While we were only there for one night and a day we seen a black bear, a cow moose, a few loons (they were on the nest), and a bunch of funny red squirrels. Those complaining about the food - holy cow if you wanted to visit New York, why didn't you visit New York! If you are a real man, and or real outdoorsy woman, you'll love this place! read more

Lets face it Pittston Farm is in the middle of nowhere so my expectations are not as high as at other establishments. This place gets mobbed on the weekends and their food isn't great but it's not bad. The French fries are actually pretty good. Considering that this place is 40 miles down a dirt road from the nearest town I can set my standards a little lower. Think about it the workers all have to live there since it would be a nearly impossible daily commute. read more

View was wonderful and saw lots of deer. The food ect was a real disappointment. I ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and paid $1.00 for tomato . Just returned from a fantastic trip and stay at the Pittston Farm. Wonderful experience, fabulous food, hospitable owners, humming birds, moose, this place has it all. Home cooked food the very best, homemade sausage, breakfast with homemade bread toast. I would recommend this to everyone. Large portions, cooked to perfection! Excellent overnight accommodations. Look, I went here knowing it was a logging camp, and had been there 15 years ago and 15 years ago, the food was out of sight, this time not so much. When you think of Pittston farm. You think of logging mans breakfast, not so. The "home fries" were chopped up French fries, and they were not cooked, the eggs were runny and so on, we did not eat lunch on either of out days but did have dinner two times and it's a shame, the food is all microwave frozen food. Not like the old days, I can get microwave food at any cheap place, but this was almost $500.00 for two day stay. We stayed in room 7, it was made up ok, rustic, one window, one old queen bed and bunk beds. We went there to ride the ATV trails, if you don't know how to ride, stay out of this area, the trails a poorly marked, rock laden, and at some points dangerous. But I think the ATV trails will get better as they get used more. Pittston farm, you are loosing the main reason we come here, that is to eat like a lumber jack, not a microwave heaven. Go back to basics, buy some potatoes and get back to cooking like the old days, throw the microwave out of the window!....please! read more

Doing a little foliage ride on Tuesday and stopped at Pittston Farm for lunch. We found the new owners very nice and fun to talk to, they gave us some ideas of what their plans were for the future and like any new purchase it takes time to put everything into order. We did a little tour of the house and the barn. Some nice changes in the house and some antique things in the barn. The house/restaurant and rest rooms were very clear, service was very good. It was a slow day and we were able to have lunch with the cook and with the owners. We found the food to be very good, at this time of year we didn't expect to find a full course meal/menu especially during the week but were very please with the food, especially the French fries. They were very crispy and there were lots of them. Burgers were cooked just like you asked them to be cooked and the chicken was great. All in all we had a very nice visit and will go back at a later time to see the changes that will be made! read more
