I had a getaway and the problem was that I didn't want to leave. Had I known that this was going to be the fun that it was, I would have stayed longer. The town and the inhabitants are very friendly. We got the corner suite and it was roomy, 2 queen beds, 2 pull out couches, 2 full bathrooms, little outside patio.... large enough to comfortably accommodate everyone. It is out dated but we kinda like that mountainish vibe. We read all the reviews and did our research prior to coming we normally rent a house when we come but decided against this year. There's a game with ping pong table, air hockey, piano, pool table and other stuff. Location is great. The heaters aren't the strongest but it was comfortable. Right next to Fred's store which everything is marked up so stop at the food lion and load up to save a few $ or not . read more

The entire place smells of cigarettes. We left after only one night because of the smoke. The rooms were outdated but otherwise clean. Not kid friendly. Overall seemed overpriced for what we got. If you have kids with asthma don't book here! The ladies up front were incredibly nice, they were the only silver lining of our stay. read more

I will start by saying we checked in late and night and checked out early the next morning. We rented the queen bed studio suite. The floor plan was spacious but i will say the queen mattress is as stiff as the sidewalk we walked in on. I told my boyfriend I would rather sleep on concrete than sleep on the bed itself. The bathroom and sink was separated, which I personally don't like but can't complain for the price we paid. There was a full size fridge, microwave and sink which was a plus. There was a Mexican restaurant connected to the Inn that was well advertised. We decided to go there on our outing the next day and I would 10/10 recommend!!! I don't know the name of the restaurant itself but like I said its attached to the Inn and I would highly recommend!!!! read more

I stayed here with some friends during the GMHG last week. It was my first time here, and we found it and booked through Travelocity. It's definitely an older hotel, but everything was satisfactory. We stayed in a studio suite because we were cooking to save money on our trip. The suite had a large bed (don't remember if it was standard or queen) and a sleeper sofa. My sister and I slept on the bed and the mattress was comfy but the pillows were too thin for my taste. It's a little weird that there are no outlets directly by the bed but I'm guessing that's because cell phones probably weren't too big when the place was built. My friend slept on the sleeper sofa and had no complaints. There is a desk, basic cable, a coffee table, and a couple of chairs. Two closets house linens for the sofa sleeper and some fans. The entire hotel also has free WiFi. There was an apartment size fridge with small freezer which was nice. A small 2 eye burner stove top and microwave were included, with a kitchen sink and a small dishwasher (amazing!). Included in the kitchen cabinets were a basic set of dining dishes, some basic kitchen tools like a veggie peeler and spatula, and some pots. Definitely nice if you're planning to cook your meals. The bathroom is small but gets the job done. I noticed our toilet was slow-flushing but never clogged. I did get stuck in the bathroom twice which was weird as there is no lock on the door. After a little persistence and jiggling I managed to get it open, so we didn't have to call maintenance. The shower water can get very very hot so be careful! There is no air conditioning but to be honest you don't need it (even in July). The windows open and have screens so you can enjoy the cool night air and two box fans were included in our room. We had no trouble keeping cool even with daytime highs in the high 80s-low 90s. The front desk staff was super friendly and the lounge is nice and homey. I think they're gone after 10pm though so I suppose that could be detrimental if there is some sort of problem. Overall we had a nice stay and would return. The place is a bit old but the money was right ($315 total after tax and everything for 3 nights). The location is great too-nice view, lots of small shops and restaurants nearby, and about 30 minutes from attractions like Grandfather Mountain, Boone, and just a little farther from Blowing Rock. read more

Came here for the weekend with the hubby and the Valle Crucis Fair. The hotel is quaint, Bavarian ski lodge feel. Our room was very clean except for the ceiling fan which was easily remedied. The Murphy bed was awesome and everything u need to stay forever. Very friendly front desk reception inn keeper, very funny also. We would so stay here again. Price was very reasonable on booking.com like $79. We will return. Try the Mexican restaurant on premises get the chicken burritos are amazing. Its just a walk down from your room and their prices food and beer are reasonable . We suggest u bring ur own toilet paper (theirs is very harsh) and pillows. Bed is hard and their pillows are very very flat, not feather more like foam, we didn't get much sleep but still enjoyed the room. States HBO but that channel didn't work on the cable. But what more could you ask for. read more

My husband and I stayed here and absolutely loved the place. As soon as you walk in, there is a huge stone fireplace and coffee to great you. We were surprised to find our room equipped with a full kitchenette to include stove, full size refrigerator, ice trays (but they also have an ice machine), pots, pans, plates, utensils etc. The bed was soft and very comfortable. The pillows were big and comfy. There is no A/C but there is a box fan you place in the window and it is more than comfortable. But what really stood out was the staff!! Alison and Pam were helpful beyond words to make our stay comfortable. Everyone is super friendly and goes above and beyond!! I got a migraine and my husband called the emergency no at three am and he was greeted by the boss there with a bottle of Aleve. They have lots of literature, tips and knowledge about the area to make your stay fabulous. I can't say enough how friendly and helpful everyone is!! read more

Booked this hotel last minute for a quick getaway for my partner and I....when we first arrived the two main entrance driveways were a complete muddy mess...I understand it's the mountains...but if you have a rear wheel drive car....I def think the hotel should post an advertisement stating there are gravel driveways and weather may permit bad driving areas on the property..... Maybe a sign saying "you can't stay here if it has been raining hard" ... I literally bottomed my car out every single time driving in and out...annoying. Then we get back from skiing, walking into the lobby, and the maid has the nerve to ask "are you the boys in room ###?" We're like yes....she made a fact to announce that we had some illegal stuff in our room and that she had put a privacy note on my door by "she never wants to see that stuff again!" Really? So I asked why in the first place there wasn't a "do not disturb" sign available for me to use like every other hotel in the country....they told me that if I would have asked for my room not to be cleaned then no one would go inside....HELLO??!! Why don't you just place those handy signs in each room and catch up with the times and you won't walk into rooms with "things" you don't want to see. As many years as this place has been open and as old as the maid looked...I'm sure she has seen harder things and worse things than a little weed. I'm a medical patient and this was so disappointing to be embarrassed like that in front of other guests. Of course we immediately went up to our room, packed our things, and checked out....even though I had paid for another night...I didn't want to stay here another minute and WILL NOT bring my business back here.
