Beware of Four Paws. There is an aggressive male groomer there who traumatized our super-loving 11-month-old puppy.

I left a great review awhile ago because I was happy with Four Paws until I called to make an appointment one day and they wouldn't book one because I hadn't been going there on a regular basis. I have a small dog, had been going there for over two years so took him in maybe 3 or 4 times a year. That didn't work for them and it didn't sit well with me either. Went here regularly for years for nail clipping for my dogs and it was great. Sometimes she has new employees that aren't great, but overall the experience was always good. The last two visits were not. Her new helper does not seem comfortable around dogs, doesn't handle them well. Doesn't hold them tight during nail clipping so they flail around and get hurt - one of my dogs was bleeding significantly and they had to use a lot of stypic powder, repeatedly on multiple nails on each paw. I gave them another chance this morning and it was the same helper and same lack of control of the dogs. After they made one of my dogs bleed once I stopped it. The groomer gave me attitude about it insisting her mother (apparently her new assistant and owner of the clinic) was doing it fine, insisted they've always "held" the dogs so lightly they can squirm and bleed. After years of coming here and even bringing a Christmas gift last year, I'm surprised at the nasty treatment. Also disappointed that she doesn't seem to care about the health and safety of the dogs in her care. For the safety of my dogs, I can't go back. read more

I love Four Paws, owner Amy and her team are absolutely great. They keep a detailed card for each pooch, with what they want/need (my dog has a note on NO blow drying, which terrifies him), they are sweet and professional. If there is anything negative to say, is how hard it is to get an appointment that is not two months away or more, but that speaks to how sought after they are, because they are fabulous. read more

I have three little Dollies who are MY LIFE. I was nervous when I first moved to the Island full time b/c the service industry can be sketch up here. I took my Littles to Four Paws and was pleasantly surprised. I have read the other reviews, and do think being specific about how long/short you want the cut is important. I think showing some respect for the hard working employees at Four Paws might go a long way, too. They have given lots of TLC to my Littles, are patient with my little Gramma dog, and take extra care with my little Yorkie poo who has sensitive paws. I have now been using Four Paws Only for 3+years and am thankful they are reliable, close by, safe and caring- a valuable commodity to find, both on the Island, and off. Amy and her crew are the best I've found! My dog is older and has long "feathers" along with a healthy undercoat. They always listen carefully to any requests. I've been so pleased with their careful and gentle handling of my dog. She likes the people there and is very good on the grooming table because she trusts she will be treated well. They schedule her first in the day so she can get out of there before it gets too busy:) The price for service is very reasonable. I highly recommend this business. read more

Terrible! Absolutely terrible! I took my dog here a while ago for a hair cut. I specifically asked them NOT to clip his nails because I did it 3 days prior. They clipped them any way, which they charged for. Every single nail had the quick nicked and he was bleeding-they didn't even attempt to stop the blood. They also cut off- literally- his nipple. I was livid. They did nothing to diffuse or make the situation right. I was talking to another islander about the situation and they knew, without me saying what groomer it was, they knew who it was. She says they have many horror stories about safety concerns that she has heard. My dog is terrified of the groomers now and won't let anyone clip his nails. I never had issues with him before this trip. But now because he won't let me clip his nails, I have to get them professionally done every 2 to 3 weeks (obviously with a different groomer). I do not recommend this establishment. And yes, I filed a complaint with the better business bureau. read more

I am caring for my daughter's "Texas heeler" for four months. He is a touchy dog and has never ever let anyone clip his nails--so they needed to be clipped. I called Four Paws and warned them about Rocky...they said bring him in. We were in and out in 5 minutes!! Rocky started off his usual snarling, shaking self, but in 1 minute these three women had him snuggled in and clipped. I was speechless -- took a video of the operation and my daughter was amazed. We will travel far to return to Four Paws for nail clips in the Future. I highly recommend this business -- they know how to handle 'iffy' dog in in a competent and caring manner!! read more

We've taken our golden doodle here for the last 3 years. They do a great job with him. We ask for non traditional cuts for him for fun and functionality and they get it done. Be specific and nice and you'll be impressed. read more

The review by Sarrah T. is a false review. I own the salon and can assure anyone the events she claims took place never occurred. We don't have a client by that name and have never, I repeat, never charged extra for nail trims when a dog receives a groom or bath. We have hundreds of satisfied clients who love bringing their pets to us. We are a safe, clean and professional salon who always takes care of clients needs. This review is just so false and made up. Four Paws Only - Pet Groomers Near Me - Freeland, Washington

We took our Bichon mix here a few times, and every single time she came back with multiple scabs in her fur from cuts during the haircut. She also shakes and is terrified every time we take her there, which they brushed off as just being afraid of being away from us, but we've never had this issue elsewhere. We finally just gave up after this last time, when she had a larger gash than ever, and will be taking our loved one elsewhere. read more

WORST PLACE EVER!!! They can NOT follow even the simplest of instructions! We took our dogs there 7 weeks ago. They did NOT listen to anything we asked them to do. We took them back today (01/11/18) to give them another chance, and AGAIN, they would rather cut our dogs how they want and not how we want them cut!
