I needed a dishwasher removed and another one installed. Alan removed my dishwasher and realized the one that was going to be installed (that I bought from a 3rd party) was damaged. He was so caring in showing me the damage and that it was a toss-up whether the dents would result in damage/leaks later on. He told me he personally wouldn't risk it. That was enough for me. I've used the services of this business once in the past, with an acceptable outcome, although at a higher price than other businesses that had performed the same work for me. I still chose to give them the opportunity to provide service again for a needed appliance evaluation/repair, and proceeded to schedule with them. In the course of having various communications with the office rep, I learned that their business practices are highly questionable, and clearly inconsistent with any other businesses I've worked with now or in the past: 1. Unlike all other reputable businesses, they sent an invoice for the planned service -- IN ADVANCE -- of the service to be provided -- which was even further annotated, incredulously, as "DUE UPON RECEIPT". When challenged, the rep claimed it was simply provided as a "courtesy" ??? Invoices are always sent consistent with the COMPLETION of a service -- certainly NEVER as a misnomered "courtesy". 2. They asked for my email address via the YELP website during communications; however, per my confirmation with a YELP rep, YELP does not allow personal emails to be passed via the app for security reasons and SPAM prevention, and therefore will remove any emails attempted to be transmitted via YELP communications. The rep then requested further communications via text. 3. The rep stated that they prefer to work with the tenants directly, rather than the owner or property manager; however, tenants (particularly single females) often do not want to provide their personal contact information (name and phone number) to unknown service personnel. I therefore provided my direct contact info via text, as requested by the office rep, and communicated with him accordingly via text throughout the scheduling process. 4. After coordinating with my tenant, I ultimately provided acceptable time windows -- which were the entire afternoons on several days next week. However, I was ultimately advised, incredulously, that due to my "opposition to their general operating procedures", no service would not be provided after all. And yes, with "general operating procedures" being that of sending due upon receipt invoices in advance of any service being provided; and, wanting a tenant's personal contact information in violation of the tenant's desired communication wishes -- even when I as the owner was fully communicative during the scheduling process -- I must agree that I am in fact in opposition to their questionable operating protocol. And I do agree that there would be no further benefit in utilizing their services now or in the future, given the multitude of other highly reputable and professional appliance repair services that are available. I have clearly wasted a substantial amount of my time in trying to schedule with this business, when I could have readily scheduled with another far more professional business, with more acceptable/traditional business practices, that are clearly respectful of a tenant's privacy. read more

I first called Four Needs when the door seal on my 15-year-old Samsung washing machine tore. Since I had already diagnosed the problem, Carlos was able to quote me a price ahead of time. When I asked about having them address a vibration issue on the same visit, he steered me away from tackling that job because, from their experience, trying to fix it was more likely to make it worse than better. The technician who did the job was knowledgeable and efficient and didn't seem to mind me hanging around and watching while he worked. He checked his work and left the area clean before leaving. Since, then, they have returned to replace the water inlet valves on the same machine, and again the work they did was thorough and professional. Where should I start? LOVE these guys! I rent my house and had my renters call and say the refrigerator was not cooling as it should. It ended up being that the door was just being opened and closed too much (grabbing those drinks!). Carlo kept in constant communication with me and had someone out within an hour. I have to say I was surprised to see I didn't have a review of Four Needs posted already. This is then 2nd time we have used them, both for our LG washer. The first time was about a year ago and we noticed a bit of water on the ground in front of our front load washer. Called Four Needs to come and fix it, thinking it would be a gasket replacement or something. Instead, the repair guy was honest and showed us where some clogging in drain holes was leading to a slight back up of water that was leaking out of the front. He cleaned it, showed us how to check the filter on the washer (ashamed to admit I didn't know it existed) and how to clean that and gave us some other tips to prevent any further back up and leaks. I think it ended up being $150 for everything, when a gasket would have been closer to the $300-$400 range. Flash forward to this week, and I'm running some laundry and all there is this strange grinding sound coming from the washer toward the end of the cycle and I noticed the clothes weren't as water free as normal after the spin cycle when putting them in the dryer. Didn't think much of it and went to put in the next load and the sound came right back and I could see the washer wasn't spinning at all. We assumed correctly that it was one of the motors (confirmed now by Four Needs tech). Was honest and said, hey, this thing is 13 years old, so we aren't looking at spending more than $250 to $300 on a repair, since we can get a new one for a few hundred more. Tech told me that it would likely be less than that, in the $220 range. He's fixing it now. Last week my dryer stopped working. After looking online I realized that the belt might have fallen off. After more research I attempted to repair it myself but failed. I sent to a message to the four needs team and they were able to send someone out the same day. They explained everything to me and even factored in work that I already did into the price. Carlo and Alan are great. I had gotten a first opinion that didn't seem right, and they immediately came by to perform a much more detailed inspection on my refrigerator. They got right to the problem and confirmed that the previous tech's solution (replace gasket and hinges) wouldn't have solve the problem at all. What's more, they proactively called Thermador for me to schedule a repair with the official service people (since my fridge was new enough that it could be covered by the manufacturer). This was something I didn't even ask them to do, but they did right by me as the customer even though it took money out of their pockets. I had a problem with my gas stove on Thanksgiving day and frantically looked for a repair man to come out and look at it, since the burner was on and would not turn off. Alan returned my call right away and came to my house to make sure the gas was turned off and that we were safe. The tech that was sent out was very professional and easy to work with, upon a diagnostic it was found that our circuit board had to be replaced, unfortunately the part was severely backordered by GE so we needed to wait for that. A full quote was given ahead of time and we were under no obligation to accept it nor pay right away (but we obviously did). The part finally came and they came out to replace immediately, everything was smooth and the prices were very fair, didn't pay till the job was done and to our satisfaction.
