There were so many awesome vendors and the fact that proceeds help support the amazing Joy Garden is awesome. You feel the love that goes into creating this space for people to come and gather. We went during the summer the day before the Fourth of July around 9am which was a Friday. It wasn't busy but a few cars there. The regular price is $10 for 15 dozen, still a great amazing deal. Fast friendly service, at their window pick up. This week of August 11th they had an $8 deal for the 15 dozen We came on Thursday the 13th and got that 8$ deal!! We mentioned them to family and friends. My cousin's family from her husbands side has a lot of kids and went by in the afternoon and said there was a long line and a lot of people My Thursday morning around 10a wasn't busy, even with the deal, so I guess their afternoons are a lot more busy FYI I hope they will still have these amazing prices for months to come which definitely helps big families. NARRATIVE: I drove to Pleasant Valley Farms on a Sunday morning, just after they opened for day. There were a few cars and waiting people when arrived but, the line to grab some fresh eggs moved quickly. I grabbed 18 large brown eggs and paid $5 dollars. No fuss. No muss, just some fresh eggs. SCENE: Pleasant Valley Farms is located in the unincorporated city of Ripon on W Ripon Road between Austin Road and S Curtis Avenue. The farm has signs clearly marking which way to enter and leave the property and the process for getting eggs is simple; drive up. Find a place to park. Head to the window and buy your eggs. RECOMMENDATION(S): You can't beat the freshness of their eggs nor their price. Highly recommended.

They carry beautiful, locally grown produce, but they have so much more to offer. Our first great find here was their fresh and frozen fruit pies made by The Pie Company, a well-known, local business located in nearby Ripon. We are already big fans of this pie manufacturer because they supply their frozen pies to some of the larger Ace Hardware stores in our area, too. We live in So Cal, but we can pick up the exact same pies they make and sell here in Ripon/Manteca. We swear by them, especially the peach, apricot, and blackberry. They taste homemade and are piled full of naturally ripened fruit with very little sugar so the fresh fruit flavors shine through. While the crust is more thick than I usually prefer, I decided their crust is one of the better ones. Such a treat! Another find here was the wonderful array of flavored vinegars and honeys. The fig balsamic vinegar is amazing. So good, we returned the next day to bring a few more bottles home with us. There are several local brands to choose from. And then, check out the refrigerator section. If you see products from Long Ranch, this is a local pig ranch that has prize-worthy, thick cut, perfectly smoked bacon that has brought me to tears. Their bacon is heavenly. If I ever get a do-over, I would grab some of everything I see from this Ranch. Since we were on a road trip, we grabbed a few snacks. The sesame sticks, packaged under their own label, are so fresh and delicious. They have many other snack options that carry their label. Bet they are all really good. I am so impressed with the quality of the products they sell, I only wish I lived closer. I'd be a regular here.

The stand was run by a single lady who was friendly and answered our questions about all the produce she had out. Lots of the usual - strawberries, apricots, walnuts and more. There were some unusual (at least for me) pieces for sale such as the persimmons. This stand was also significantly bigger than a lot of the others we passed which I assume is due to DePalma being a bit more established. I didn't get anything but I did sample a few pieces of fruit and all were very good and encouraged by the lady running the stand. One of the people in my travel group also got a piece of corn that he ate raw and said it was "very sweet and delicious." It looked good and take his word for it.

There were things we liked about this fruit stand. It was notable that they carried many snack items (fresh nuts, many varieties of seasoned almonds, freeze-dried vegetables, dried fruits, etc). The bonus was, they had small jars to get samples of everything. We bought several as a result. Next, were their strawberries. Wonderful! Since it was May, I knew they were at their peak in sweetness. While everyone usually goes for the big plump ones, I found a half tray that had seconds, which I prefer. Seconds suffer in looks, but tend to be even more so sweet that the oversized ones, IMHO. These were a beautifully flavored variety and thoroughly enjoyed. We were on a honey hunt. There was a large variety of local honeys here. Loved that we could buy them in many different sized jars, including the cute honey bear squeeze bottles. They did not offer tasting, however. The two we picked were the blue sage and blackberry honeys. Both are great. Their Achilles Heel, sadly, were the baked goods. They looked good, but did not pass the taste test at all. We bought a pie and a couple turnovers. The strawberry rhubarb pie ended up tasting like cherry, and not even a good cherry pie. It had highly thickened filling, little sugar, and was lacking in any real fruit taste. This held true for the turnovers as well. Possibly some of the worst we have ever had. Sadly, everything ended up in the trash. Horrible. Stick with the produce and snacks. Nice quality and many choices.
