I was driving to Ripon to a fruit market and I came across this place and decided to stop. They have a pretty decent collection of produce and fruits, along with some local items. The packaged items like dry goods seem good. But the produce and fruit was really disgusting because there were so many flies and fruit flies all over, a lot of the fruit looked wrinkly and old. I felt like I started getting itchy standing in there with all of the little bugs. They also had a pet cage, there was a cat wandering around so I assume that may be hers. Not the most cleanest place so therefore I wouldn't return for fresh foods. read more

Everyone was wearing a mask. Sounds like a little thing but lives are being saved because most people care enough about others to wear them. Thank you to all of the employees. When people drive in and see all of you wearing masks it makes them follow suit. I saw a woman running back to her car when she saw the employee that was working his butt off wearing his. This alone gives them 5 stars. They are selling FRESH WALNUTS !!! If you have never eaten freshly harvested walnut meat then now is your chance! They have really sweet looking jars of jams. We bought $100 in walnuts. They sell them in one pound bags for $7.50. We choose this place because they were wearing masks. We know that all of the local stands have the same nuts but some of those shops have people working that aren't following scientific recommendations dealing with covid. Great job Jacob's! A decent stop for local produce. I've been on a pomelo kick lately - and I've been loving trying out a variety of different fruit stands on our way to the mountains. Jacob's is conveniently located and it has a pretty good selection of vegetables, fruits, nuts etc. I recommend inspecting your items before you purchase them. The first pomelo that I picked up - my fingers went right through the skin - because it had already started to mold. Quite a few of their lemons, sweet potatoes etc were also covered in fuzz and they looked to had been sitting there for awhile. That being said - for two big pomelos, a green apple, an onion and an avocado - it was just $6. Not a bad price at all! Trust. read more

Jacobs produce is my go to spot for fruits I love coming here for my local oranges, cuties, local honey and watermelon when I'm season they are friendly nice clean. It's off a busy road hwy 120 ample parking and a rest stop bathroom not the cleanest but will do of your in town and or driving thru try some fruits. They also have a taco truck on most days that is not bad. Enjoy !!! read more

With all of the traffic eastbound on SR120, this place seems a bit difficult to enter. Yesterday, the traffic was light and I didn't have a problem. They have a decent-sized parking lot. They have a variety of produce and packaged nuts but pricing is confusing because not everything is marked clearly. I got two small baskets of strawberries and a labeled 9 ounces package of pistachios, though it seemed lighter than 9 ounces. This came to an even $9.00. The two baskets of strawberries had a few close-to-ripe fruits, but most had been picked quite a while back. The pistachios seemed very fresh. Service was sufficient, not particularly friendly. read more

This produce stand is run by the kindest people who during the time of social distancing were among the first businesses to protect customers and employees by disinfecting carts and baskets, offering sanitizer, and putting up a plexiglass at the register. These measures show a care for the community and respect for the employees that has earned them my patronage for life. They sell amazing frozen pies. The best ever! Formerly Kandi's pies, same bakery is making them and Jacob's is one of the only places to get them. This is a great place to buy almonds and local honey of superior quality. Their produce selection varies with the season. You can count on the absolute best price and flavor on anything locally produced, but it will be at peak ripeness and you should expect to consume it within a day or two. So so much more than your average fruitstand! Great mix of local and driven-in fruits, so many unusual dried fruits and nuts that I had never tried (dried kiwi anyone?), boxed-up homemade pies, plus a bunch of refrigerated basics like milk and things that you might want to pick up! The prices are more than reasonable-- either the same or lower than our local farmers market! Plus they have some sizeable baskets of slightly overripe fruit that they sell for a buck or two; if you're into potential fermentation, this could be your bag! (basket?) We only got a couple of their peaches and a couple of their nectarines... I had the nectarine this morning, and a trip to and from Yosemite later, it was still amazingly delicious. This is the kind of place my family would have made a must-stop if it was on one of our regular roadtripping routes when I was growing up... the kind of place my fiance and I will make a must-stop over the next few years! read more

This place is right off a highway and I saw it passing by. I decided to get off and try it. Plenty of parking on the side and a nice open feel to it. They have some good vegetables. They have a lot of dried items. Also a huge selection of pastas and hot sauces that most stands don't have. They also sold tea I thought that was pretty cool. The price was reasonable. I'm really happy I stopped and got some fresh fruits and veggies. read more

Roadside fruit and veggie stands are one of my favorite things about California. I almost passed it completely but the cars and trucks out front caught my eye. I couldn't resist stopping after seeing the mounds of vibrant, fresh produce. I just started grabbing and filling bags as if it were some kind of ridiculous contest a la "Supermarket Sweep". A few apricots here, two avocados there, a bunch of bananas, a netted bag of garlic, and several red potatoes. I must have looked like a loon to the young lady behind the register.... Grand total? Six bucks and change. What a steal! Supermarkets can't even come close to the quality and pricing. Be a peach. Support your local growers! read more

The Central Valley produces about 8% of the produce for the entire country. Or so the internet tells me (and who can trust the internet). Since I moved to the foothills, I've been excited to stop at produce stands between my old home near the ocean and my new home near the mountains. Jacob's is one of my favorite stops. Really great sweet service and quality items for a good price. I had the same experience as Stacy B. earlier this summer: woah squash looks good put that in a bag, wow the grapes are really cheap so put those in a bag, yum popcicle I want that too... I walked out with my hands full for about $15, and had enough produce for all week plus.... Remember to pull over here! read more

This is a wonderful roadside fruit stand. It offers a wide selection with great prices and a very friendly staff. The parking is open and they have large clean bathrooms. They are a must stop for us whenever we are in the area. Most importantly they are not closed! read more

Nice stand, good selection of produce. Cherries which are running up to $8 a pound in the grocery store were had here for $4 a basket - at least 1.5 lbs worth. Nice fresh corn, tomatoes, squash, sweet red onions and they carry Genova bakery bread. Friendly people, a nice stand in a convenient location. read more

Among the many roadside produce stops, this one is a stand out. They have specials where they fill baskets and you get the whole thing for like $2.50 or so. I got about 8 squash for that, which was a deal! They have snacks, nuts, salsas, eggs, etc. and tons of produce. I was sad they didn't have any artichokes. Also the avocados were a pricy $1.50, but its probably cause of the season. The place was very organized, the cashier very friendly and the food fresh! Also, they take credit cards, which on a road-trip is helpful since they are out in the middle of nowhere. read more

Like any fruit stand, you have to be aware of the time of year and which produce is in season for that time of year. I felt much of the fruit at Jacob's Produce in late July were overly ripe but the couple exceptions were the corn and fresh prunes. At $.99/lb for fresh prunes, which were delicious, and corn at 5 for a buck, those were the couple of items that I brought home to the Bay Area with me. Prices were reasonable and it'd definitely be worthwhile to make a trip to Jacob's next time I'm in the Manteca area. read more

In the past, this has seemed one of the more informal, less developed, produce stands along Hwy. 108 headed toward the Sierras. Sometimes, I just simply bypassed it and went on down the road to the other produce stand at Jack Tone Road (a mile or two further down). The other one seems to be more of a bus passenger stopover, so Jacob's just might offer better produce and deals on produce. read more

Don't think they're in business anymore. Stopped by June 21, 2017. Waited until 8:20 and never opened. I went back home and called later. That's when I found the phone number is not in service anymore. So I'm assuming they're closed down. I wouldn't make a long trip just to find they're closed. Pretty rude not to put up a notice or if they are in business, not very responsible of them not to update contact info. read more

I have been a regular customer for 8 years this month. The produce has always been great and I've enjoyed watching them grow and add new items each year. I will continue to support all year long (he closes in Dec - Jan because food is fresh, local and the owner operates in integrity. read more

Fruitstand is nice and I was glad to purchase local honey. I wish to support local and organic farmers. Prices are reasonable. Some are cheaper than the grocery store, and some are more. Either way if you are in the area, come check them out. I do not think you will be disappointed. read more
