As they are silk dogs, we do brush them often to keep them neat. With little cutting needed we want the Sisters to look alike with mainly a bath and comb out. The key is to FOLLOW WHAT WE WANT. This was our second recent trip to LATHER . . . NEVER AGAIN. We told the groomer specifically if they found a mat and needed to shave it was okay as long as it was not visible (eg., belly). When we picked them up and paid $ 193.50 we found that one dog was completely shaved on her face, mustache gone, beard gone, even whiskers gone. We now have one Havanese with a traditional cut and one with a poodle face. The owner told me that they decided one mat under the chin could not be combed out so he decided to shave her entire face. We should have been informed and allowed to decide. There was no need to shave her entire face. Now that I read the reviews I can see that the owner is never wrong, always an excuse to protect his business. We did not ask for a refund. We were not at all satisfied; the key point is IF YOU WANT A CHOICE IN HOW YOUR DOG IS GROOMED, AVOID LATHER. All we wanted to hear from the owner was, yes, they made a mistake. No way. He said he did what was best for the dog - not his decision, not his dog! GO ELSEWHERE.

I've bathed my Aussie here twice - the first time I decided to try out a new place; the last time, today, I decided to give this place a second chance. - The water is cold to lukewarm at best. - The soap is pushed through tubes by water - thus, it is watered down and cleans NOTHING...yes, they have the same system at Pet Supplies Plus, however, at least they provide pump bottles of each shampoo in addition to the crappy tube system. - The 'towels' are shammies no larger than a wash rag... thank goodness I had REAL towels in my truck to dry my cold and (still) dirty pup. - I don't understand the pricing... his first bath was $20.00 and his bath today cost $16.00... but he weighs more now!!! Save your money.....You can drive the same distance from the dog park to the South Park Shoppes Pet Supplies Plus, get a 'Dirty Dog' Card (5 baths for $26.00) be provided with real towels and more shampoo than you'll ever need - and the water is nice and warm.

When I entered this store, an employee immediately and kindly greeted me. I walked around the store to browse the merchandise. Most of the products were for dogs. I was shopping for my cats, and I selected a collar and three containers of wet food to buy. The cashier immediately and accurately rang up my purchase and wished me a good day. I deducted half of a star from my review because the prices were a little higher than what a competing online retailer charges. Finally, I read on the website about the Pet Supplies Plus Recycling Program: "We accept all flexible plastic pet food, treat and litter bag packaging, from ALL brands, across ALL species, purchased from ANY retailer...Look for specially marked recycling boxes inside your neighborhood Pet Supplies Plus store." What a fantastic program! I will no longer have to throw my pet-food bags and litter bags into the trash.

I had not previously visited a PetPeople, and they mailed me a coupon for 20 percent off, so I stopped in to learn about their products and services. As soon as I entered the store, an employee cheerfully said hello, answered my questions, and directed me to products for cats. (Fellow Yelper, if you are a dog person, I apologize for my inability to discuss their exact dog products. I can tell you that the store sells mostly products for dogs, and they have a few self-serve dog-washing stations.) For cat food and treats, they sell brands such as Fromm, Greenies, Nulo, Orijen, Tiki, Weruva, and many others. For cat supplies, they sell beds, mats, bowls, scratching posts, toys, litter, etcetera. For my cats, I bought about a dozen items, including litter, catnip buds, catnip spray, treats, and toys. Some of the products were unique, and when I brought them home, my cats excitedly played. Prices for some products, such as the cat litter, were higher than at other stores, but the prices were a bargain after my coupon. Prices for other products were comparable to other stores' prices. They do offer a rewards program if you are interested in signing up.
