The food was mid and the atmosphere was less than desirable. I hate to give poor reviews and yet it's necessary for this one. We actually left disappointed overall. The fish and chips were just ok as was the sausage and mash. The frickles were unimpressive and most of our group didn't care for the hummus (plus the bread was just 2 thin tortillas that had been toasted and cut). The chili chicken was decent but nothing to rave about and the calamari type dish was just bland. Maybe we caught them on an off night but if that's the case I would think the servers could step up and at least be friendly. Most staffers looked the other way or were just not accommodating.

The balls are also a joke, most of them are worn out (over time snooker balls start to lose their weight and get slightly smaller) so it's like playing with uk pool balls. The singular member of staff is the same dodgy fella that you see everyday on the Jeremy Kyle show. His nicky nacky nashers could shred beef but to a poor standard and his pinball eyes could put a Korean to shame. QE2... more like 3 of the 2 if you ask me, as in 3rd degree burns on my left... twice. I wouldnt go there if you took me. But all in all its pretty decent. Apart from everything I mentioned... Not bad lighting. But it doesnt chalk my cue. Its a pile of balls... no pun intended... just kidding it was.

To this end I played a lot when I was younger and used to like and go play my mates at lunch time when I went to the school just round the corner. This is a pretty good wee snooker hall. There are about 20 tables and a couple of pool tables. All of which are of a pretty good standard. They're not championship standard but you certainly won't weel ripped off and there won't be sellotape holding the cloth together or anything ridiculous like that. The staff are always friendly and polite. Try not to be too weirded out by the fat you have to go through a huge security door to get in, although this place has been robbed a couple of times its safe enough. But don't come running to me if something bad does happen. Definitely worth checking out if you fancy a few frames on a Saturday afternoon or a beek off from school.

Clifton Snooker Hall owes me some of my childhood, it stole many hours from me between the age of…read more12 and 16. What I am trying to say is that I was never out of the place. I used to be in there for so long that I would come out and the sun would hurt my eyes. One summer I spent so much time in the darkness of Clifton Snooker hall that I went back to school more pale than at the beginning of summer. Being fair Clifton probably saved me from being one big freckle, so I suppose owe it one. Anyway Clifton Snooker Hal is now a little different from other snooker halls, it is an open relaxed atmosphere and is a million miles away from the working mans club feel of other snooker halls. It is fully equipped with 20 snooker tables and 2 pool tables in a separate room. Although the atmosphere is relaxed I would refrain from chatting around the snooker tables as guys come here to focus on there game. Clifton also sells snacks and drinks for those long frames. Once upon a time it used to sell Pot Noodles with water included for £1, this probably contributed heavily to my weight gain in the summer of '04. If you want to play snooker in Bangor I think this is probably the best place to go, I would advise calling ahead and booking a table on weekends and evening but during the day it is generally quite quiet so you should be able to walk in and break.
