To this end I played a lot when I was younger and used to like and go play my mates at lunch time when I went to the school just round the corner. This is a pretty good wee snooker hall. There are about 20 tables and a couple of pool tables. All of which are of a pretty good standard. They're not championship standard but you certainly won't weel ripped off and there won't be sellotape holding the cloth together or anything ridiculous like that. The staff are always friendly and polite. Try not to be too weirded out by the fat you have to go through a huge security door to get in, although this place has been robbed a couple of times its safe enough. But don't come running to me if something bad does happen. Definitely worth checking out if you fancy a few frames on a Saturday afternoon or a beek off from school.

I used to be in there for so long that I would come out and the sun would hurt my eyes. One summer I spent so much time in the darkness of Clifton Snooker hall that I went back to school more pale than at the beginning of summer. Being fair Clifton probably saved me from being one big freckle, so I suppose owe it one. Anyway Clifton Snooker Hal is now a little different from other snooker halls, it is an open relaxed atmosphere and is a million miles away from the working mans club feel of other snooker halls. It is fully equipped with 20 snooker tables and 2 pool tables in a separate room. Although the atmosphere is relaxed I would refrain from chatting around the snooker tables as guys come here to focus on there game. Clifton also sells snacks and drinks for those long frames. Once upon a time it used to sell Pot Noodles with water included for £1, this probably contributed heavily to my weight gain in the summer of '04. If you want to play snooker in Bangor I think this is probably the best place to go, I would advise calling ahead and booking a table on weekends and evening but during the day it is generally quite quiet so you should be able to walk in and break.

Tucked away down Faulkner Road off the Clandeboye Road, this is a pretty standard, salt of the earth snooker hall with no real surprises. One major selling point for this place is its 9-Ball pool tables which are extremely popular and are a bit different to what you will get in most snooker halls and pubs in the area. The prices here are pretty standard for what you will pay in Bangor, around £5 an hour for snooker and pool, but if you go before 6pm it is considerably cheaper than that. Which I think is excellent. The owners are usually ok with you bringing a few drinks with you as long as you are quiet and respectful without causing any trouble for the other patrons. It can get a bit jolly in here if people have had a few but that adds chararter and certainly won't be the case during the day.

This was much better than going to someone's house and getting into a state before heading down High Street. This became a bit of a tradition and I used to tag along and get involved in the snooker. This is where I firstly started playing snooker and I have fond feelings for Top Spot. The staff were always really sound and they did not patronise me even though when I firstly started going in I could barely see over the table. I was never really into pool but Top Spots pool tables are really popular and are decent value too. Playing a few games of pool or snooker is the perfect way to start an evening and Top Spot is in a decent location, only a £2 taxi trip into town but secluded enough so it is not always jam packed.
