Every time I have gone in the last 6 months on a weekend they take forever and fix the speaker!!!!! Very expensive and patty is so thin it's overshadowed by a mountain of lettuce and tomato. My Dad grew up on that block and has so many great memories of the fountain as do I but I cannot say they are great, not even good. The fries had so much salt there was literally half a teaspoon in the bottom of the fries. Had to throw them out too salty. Shrimp burger used to be goo but like all other burgers tiny slab of patty on a much bigger bun and over wrought with lettuce and tomato. One of the last drive ins I used to love and am sad those great memories are all. Nothing worse than a favorite place gone bad. I have been going to this place for years..... like 35 of them. The reviews surprise as I stop here every time I am in town for a burger. Maybe it's nostalgia for me but it is one of my favorite burgers. They crisp the inside of the bun.. the sauce. Chefs kiss. Long wait, overpriced food for the quality. We are pretty easy when it comes to food, but this place is a no go. There is no menu, no descriptions, no images. The Fountain Drive-In in old town Arlington is open for business. We've been here in the past usually for their very generous scoops of ice cream servings for the kids. Today I ordered the Jumbo Burger with cheese (extra $.75) through the drive thru. It was prepared fresh and surprisingly the drive thru line moved reasonably fast. I wolfed down the burger on the drive home and it was yummy. Great double meat, lettuce, tomato, onion and melty cheese. Delish! We love supporting small local businesses so I encourage you guys to try this place when in the area. It's a great stop for some grub on the way to the Darrington/Burlington areas. First time here, last time here. Should have went to Nutty's down the road but thought we would be supportive of the local businesses. Would you believe this order cost $30? Plus a five dollar tip, yeah $35.00.......Was it worth it? Not worth it! Horrible food: Store bought frozen chicken and burger patties. The burger and chicken patties were drenched in mayonnaise. Supposed to be a butterscotch milkshake but straight up tasted like vanilla. Supposed to be a chocolate milkshake but straight up taste like vanilla. The portion of fries are laughable and the onion rings are downright disgusting full of bad grease, I might as well have ate a handful of old Grease. I do not recommend this facility to anyone. So much wasted potential...so horrible in reality. They have the crinkle fries that are sooo good...too bad they tasted like they were fried in lard or rancid oil. Couldn't figure it out. I swear I tasted mildew, lard/pork, and fish in the fries. I did not want to eat them but had 3, just trying to figure out the weird flavors. Barf. The meat on their burgers was perfect--thickness, cheesy, good buttery bun. Too bad all that comes on the "deluxe" burger was about 2 tablespoons of mayo mixed with relish. Yuck! Nothing else. Tons of white greasy mayo and pickle relish. No onion, no lettuce--nothing. Even special sauce is usually made with something beyond mayo and relish. Yuck. Looking at reviews of the deluxe burger, it seems they left a lot off my burger. And I was the only customer so how can you mess it up? It could have been my new burger place if the fries had been fried in clean oil and the burgers had normal fixings. The only thing "deluxe" was the price. $11 isn't a lot but when you get nothing you can eat, it is. Gross. So disappointed. And no speaker in the drive thru. Long wait for poor meal. TERRIBLE!! This place has been a hit and miss with their food and service over the years, but after tonight, I will not be going back & will be telling others to not support. It started with something that should have been a very simple fix. I ordered a blackberry sundae, which I have ordered a few times recently and normally comes in a regular size cup.. the cup they were giving me was much smaller so I explained I've never received this size of a cup before and wanted what it usually has come in. Keep in mind this place has always been overpriced, but this was beside the point..the two girls were extremely rude and had attitude about it, but clearly said they would remake it into the cup size I received before. She went around the corner and came back a little too soon to where it was clear they did not remake it.. she handed me the bigger size cup with a lid on it, this time where before there was no lid. She handed it to me with a very sarcastic "Have a great night" I just drove home not wanting the rest of the food to get cold, but when I got home, I opened it to see they stuck the small original small sundae in the big cup to disguise it. They never remade it, but said they did. I then opened the lid of the smaller cup which appears to be spit on, on the the actual sundae. I called and talked to both of the girls who had nothing, but attitude and blatantly lied saying they never said they would remake, but only put it in a bigger cup for my convenience, which makes absolutely no sense. I brought up that it looked like she spit in it, and she did not deny it, but only kept defending the fact that their sundaes came in the smaller cup, which was not the problem. I then said I would be calling back to speak to the owner..she then said that would be fine, because the owner would believe her. This is the worst service I have ever received. I have worked in the food & beverage industry for 20 years. These girls should not be in these positions or the owner is not training them correctly with how customer service works in this industry. I will be contacting the health department, as well as letting everyone know to not support this business. HORRIBLE!!!! read more

Each time I go here I feel like I've done something wrong by the way the team members act when I get to the window. Then it hit me. They're rude and unfriendly! This place needs to teach basic customer service. It's not that hard. The ice cream and shakes are the only thing that warrant the 2 stars. The food is WAY overpriced. I ordered a "large" onion ring, and it was like seven or eight tiny onion rings and they were overcooked. I stepped out for a breather yesterday, it had been a long week. A calm scoop of ice cream was calling my name and I drove north, headed up to the Fountain for my first visit. What I found there was great, was just what I needed! Friendly waitress with a fun kitchen, we picked out my rocky road & waffle cone assortment,and I was off to take my break. I sat at my booth and dove in, soooo tasty, yum! A great environment here, gorgeous locale, open with glass windows and a clean, vintage interior. Was kept this way by a diligent staff, who also stopped by and checked in after a bit so friendly, fun stories and questions, I really enjoyed her time. And this ice cream, highly recommended, yummm!
